Eksperimentalno liječenje kojim se vlastite stanice pacijenta transplantiraju u oštećene dijelove pluća moglo bi ponuditi novu nadu za oboljele od kronične opstruktivne plućne bolesti (KOPB), objavili su znanstvenici.
Znanstvenici su objavili da je nova preliminarna studija pokazala da je moguće popraviti oštećeno plućno tkivo kod nekih bolesnika s KOPB-om korištenjem njihovih vlastitih plućnih stanica.
Sudionicima Međunarodnog kongresa Europskog respiratornog društva rečeno je da bi stanična regenerativna medicina mogla ponuditi "nadu za izlječenje KOPB-a".
KOPB je naziv za skup plućnih bolesti uključujući kronični bronhitis, emfizem i kroničnu opstruktivnu bolest dišnih puteva.

Uzrokuje progresivno oštećenje plućnog tkiva koje se ne može popraviti trenutnim metodama liječenja.
Osobe s KOPB-om imaju poteškoće s disanjem.
Simptomi uključuju otežano disanje, uporan prsni kašalj sa sluzi, česte infekcije prsnog koša i uporno hripanje.
KOPB je treći vodeći uzrok smrti u svijetu, prema podacima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije, i odgovoran je za više od 3 milijuna smrti svake godine.
Samo 20 pacijenata sudjelovalo je u preliminarnom ispitivanju, rečeno je sudionicima na kongresu u Milanu.
Pacijenti su izjavili da mogu bolje disati, hodati više i rekli su da nakon zahvata imaju bolju kvalitetu života.
Istraživanje, koje su vodili znanstvenici sa Sveučilišta Tongji u Kini, pokazalo je da stručnjaci ispituju može li tip stanice nazvan P63 regenerirati plućno tkivo oštećeno KOPB-om.

Prethodno se pokazalo da te stanice uspješno popravljaju oštećeno tkivo u sićušnim zračnim vrećicama u plućima poznatim kao alveole, u studijama na životinjama.
Novo istraživanje pokazalo je kako znanstvenici uzimaju te stanice iz pluća pacijenata, zatim koriste te stanice za uzgoj još milijuna u laboratoriju prije nego što ih transplantiraju natrag u pacijentova pluća.
Od 20 pacijenata, 17 je primilo taj tretman.
Analizirani su nakon zahvata kako bi se procijenila sigurnost i učinkovitost tretmana.
Znanstvenici su izvijestili da su svi pacijenti dobro podnijeli liječenje stanicama.
Prosječne razine disanja značajno su se poboljšale za 12 tjedana, a još više koristi je uočeno šest mjeseci nakon tretmana.
U šestominutnom testu hodanja pacijenti su uspjeli u prosjeku prijeći 410 metara prije zahvata, a to se povećalo na prosječnih 447 metara šest mjeseci nakon tretmana.
Pacijenti su također izjavili da imaju bolju kvalitetu života nakon transplantacije stanica.
I što je važno, znanstvenici su izvijestili da je kod dva pacijenta s blagim emfizemom, vrstom oštećenja pluća koje je inače trajno i progresivno, liječenje popravilo oštećenje pluća.
CT snimke njihovih pluća pokazale su "povlačenje lezija nakon 24 tjedna", napisali su autori.
Znanstvenici sada planiraju potvrditi svoja otkrića testiranjem na većoj skupini pacijenata u novom kliničkom ispitivanju.

Eksperimentalno liječenje kojim se vlastite stanice pacijenta transplantiraju u oštećene dijelove pluća moglo bi ponuditi novu nadu za oboljele od kronične opstruktivne plućne bolesti (KOPB), objavili su znanstvenici.
Znanstvenici su objavili da je nova preliminarna studija pokazala da je moguće popraviti oštećeno plućno tkivo kod nekih bolesnika s KOPB-om korištenjem njihovih vlastitih plućnih stanica.
Sudionicima Međunarodnog kongresa Europskog respiratornog društva rečeno je da bi stanična regenerativna medicina mogla ponuditi "nadu za izlječenje KOPB-a".
KOPB je naziv za skup plućnih bolesti uključujući kronični bronhitis, emfizem i kroničnu opstruktivnu bolest dišnih puteva.

Uzrokuje progresivno oštećenje plućnog tkiva koje se ne može popraviti trenutnim metodama liječenja.
Osobe s KOPB-om imaju poteškoće s disanjem.
Simptomi uključuju otežano disanje, uporan prsni kašalj sa sluzi, česte infekcije prsnog koša i uporno hripanje.
KOPB je treći vodeći uzrok smrti u svijetu, prema podacima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije, i odgovoran je za više od 3 milijuna smrti svake godine.
Samo 20 pacijenata sudjelovalo je u preliminarnom ispitivanju, rečeno je sudionicima na kongresu u Milanu.
Pacijenti su izjavili da mogu bolje disati, hodati više i rekli su da nakon zahvata imaju bolju kvalitetu života.
Istraživanje, koje su vodili znanstvenici sa Sveučilišta Tongji u Kini, pokazalo je da stručnjaci ispituju može li tip stanice nazvan P63 regenerirati plućno tkivo oštećeno KOPB-om.

Prethodno se pokazalo da te stanice uspješno popravljaju oštećeno tkivo u sićušnim zračnim vrećicama u plućima poznatim kao alveole, u studijama na životinjama.
Novo istraživanje pokazalo je kako znanstvenici uzimaju te stanice iz pluća pacijenata, zatim koriste te stanice za uzgoj još milijuna u laboratoriju prije nego što ih transplantiraju natrag u pacijentova pluća.
Od 20 pacijenata, 17 je primilo taj tretman.
Analizirani su nakon zahvata kako bi se procijenila sigurnost i učinkovitost tretmana.
Znanstvenici su izvijestili da su svi pacijenti dobro podnijeli liječenje stanicama.
Prosječne razine disanja značajno su se poboljšale za 12 tjedana, a još više koristi je uočeno šest mjeseci nakon tretmana.
U šestominutnom testu hodanja pacijenti su uspjeli u prosjeku prijeći 410 metara prije zahvata, a to se povećalo na prosječnih 447 metara šest mjeseci nakon tretmana.
Pacijenti su također izjavili da imaju bolju kvalitetu života nakon transplantacije stanica.
I što je važno, znanstvenici su izvijestili da je kod dva pacijenta s blagim emfizemom, vrstom oštećenja pluća koje je inače trajno i progresivno, liječenje popravilo oštećenje pluća.
CT snimke njihovih pluća pokazale su "povlačenje lezija nakon 24 tjedna", napisali su autori.
Znanstvenici sada planiraju potvrditi svoja otkrića testiranjem na većoj skupini pacijenata u novom kliničkom ispitivanju.
