Depresija je jedna od najčešćih svjetskih bolesti, a pogađa pet posto ukupne populacije. Iako postoje učinkoviti tretmani, neki pacijenti doživljavaju neugodne nuspojave, a procjenjuje se da 30,9 posto pacijenata uopće ne reagira ili slabo reagira na lijekove. Zbog toga znanstvenici rade na razumijevanju alternativnih terapija koje mogu pomoći u liječenju depresije. Tako se nedavna studija objavljena u časopisu Nutrients bavila potencijalnim antidepresivnim učinkom matcha čaja u prahu. Na miševima su otkrili da je učinak sličan onome antidepresiva, piše Živim.

Zašto je dopamin važan?

Depresija je bolest koju karakteriziraju poremećaji raspoloženja kao što su dugotrajna tuga, nesposobnost uživanja u ranije ugodnim stvarima ili aktivnostima i duševna bol. Ona utječe i na obavljanje najjednostavnijih svakodnevnih zadataka, ponekad s razornim posljedicama za odnose s obitelji i prijateljima i posao. Da bi se postavila dijagnoza depresije odnosno depresivne epizode, ovi simptomi trebaju trajati najmanje dva tjedna, piše HZJZ.

Netko s depresijom može doživjeti široku lepezu simptoma, uključujući uporan osjećaj praznine. Točan uzrok ove bolesti nije poznat, ali postoje određeni faktori rizika, kao što su traumatski događaji ili obiteljska povijest bolesti.

Istraživači još uvijek rade na razumijevanju temeljnih komponenti depresije, od kojih su mnoge još uvijek nejasne. Jedno područje interesa su neurotransmiteri, serotonin i dopamin, te njihov utjecaj. Dopamin je kemijski glasnik koji utječe na raspoloženje i motivaciju, a stručnjaci smatraju da niske razine dopamina mogu pridonijeti depresiji.

- Dopamin je neurotransmiter koji igra ključnu ulogu u moždanim putovima nagrađivanja i motivacije - rekao je psiholog David Tzall za Medical News Today.

- Smanjite dopamin i dobit ćete manje motivirane, manje pozitivne pojedince. Nedostatak motivacije, interesa i osjećaj letargije povezani su s depresijom. Štoviše, tužno raspoloženje može se pripisati osobi koja nije dovoljno priznata ili nagrađena - dodao je Tzall.

Matcha čaj i utjecaj na depresiju

U navedenoj studiji objavljenoj u časopisu Nutrients, istraživači su proveli eksperiment na miševima tako što su ih stavili u društvenu izolaciju da bi vidjeli kako matcha čaja utječe na učinkovitost liječenja.

Štoviše, usporedili su učinke na dvije skupine glodavaca: C57BL/6J soj miševa - osjetljiv na stres i BALB/c soj miševa - tolerantniji na stres. Nakon tjedan dana u izolaciji, miševi iz obje grupe su dobili matcha čaj u prahu. Iako nije moguće ponoviti složenost depresije na miševima, istraživači su koristili test nazvan "test suspenzije repa", to je brza i klasična metoda za procjenu antidepresivnog učinka lijekova na miševe.

Kod soja C57BL/6J (osjetljiv na stres), matcha čaj je pomogao u olakšavanju simptoma depresije, dok kod BALB/c (tolerantniji na stres) soja nije imao utjecaja. Istraživači su otkrili da ova namirnica utječe na povećanje razine dopamina kod miševa C57BL/6J. Rezultati studije pokazuju da matcha čaj u prahu ima potencijal kao pomoć za depresiju.

Tzall dodaje da su ovakvi rezultati ohrabrujući u pogledu pronalaska prirodnih načina ublažavanja depresije. No, on upozorava da ovo ne znači da će matcha čaj liječiti sve oblike depresije, što ne može nijedan lijek, nego da može biti pomoćni oblik liječenja.

Nadalje, budući da je studija provedena na miševima, potrebno je više podataka da bi se razumjelo koliko su rezultati primjenjivi na ljude, piše Živim.

Depresija je jedna od najčešćih svjetskih bolesti, a pogađa pet posto ukupne populacije. Iako postoje učinkoviti tretmani, neki pacijenti doživljavaju neugodne nuspojave, a procjenjuje se da 30,9 posto pacijenata uopće ne reagira ili slabo reagira na lijekove. Zbog toga znanstvenici rade na razumijevanju alternativnih terapija koje mogu pomoći u liječenju depresije. Tako se nedavna studija objavljena u časopisu Nutrients bavila potencijalnim antidepresivnim učinkom matcha čaja u prahu. Na miševima su otkrili da je učinak sličan onome antidepresiva, piše Živim.

Zašto je dopamin važan?

Depresija je bolest koju karakteriziraju poremećaji raspoloženja kao što su dugotrajna tuga, nesposobnost uživanja u ranije ugodnim stvarima ili aktivnostima i duševna bol. Ona utječe i na obavljanje najjednostavnijih svakodnevnih zadataka, ponekad s razornim posljedicama za odnose s obitelji i prijateljima i posao. Da bi se postavila dijagnoza depresije odnosno depresivne epizode, ovi simptomi trebaju trajati najmanje dva tjedna, piše HZJZ.

Netko s depresijom može doživjeti široku lepezu simptoma, uključujući uporan osjećaj praznine. Točan uzrok ove bolesti nije poznat, ali postoje određeni faktori rizika, kao što su traumatski događaji ili obiteljska povijest bolesti.

Istraživači još uvijek rade na razumijevanju temeljnih komponenti depresije, od kojih su mnoge još uvijek nejasne. Jedno područje interesa su neurotransmiteri, serotonin i dopamin, te njihov utjecaj. Dopamin je kemijski glasnik koji utječe na raspoloženje i motivaciju, a stručnjaci smatraju da niske razine dopamina mogu pridonijeti depresiji.

- Dopamin je neurotransmiter koji igra ključnu ulogu u moždanim putovima nagrađivanja i motivacije - rekao je psiholog David Tzall za Medical News Today.

- Smanjite dopamin i dobit ćete manje motivirane, manje pozitivne pojedince. Nedostatak motivacije, interesa i osjećaj letargije povezani su s depresijom. Štoviše, tužno raspoloženje može se pripisati osobi koja nije dovoljno priznata ili nagrađena - dodao je Tzall.

Matcha čaj i utjecaj na depresiju

U navedenoj studiji objavljenoj u časopisu Nutrients, istraživači su proveli eksperiment na miševima tako što su ih stavili u društvenu izolaciju da bi vidjeli kako matcha čaja utječe na učinkovitost liječenja.

Štoviše, usporedili su učinke na dvije skupine glodavaca: C57BL/6J soj miševa - osjetljiv na stres i BALB/c soj miševa - tolerantniji na stres. Nakon tjedan dana u izolaciji, miševi iz obje grupe su dobili matcha čaj u prahu. Iako nije moguće ponoviti složenost depresije na miševima, istraživači su koristili test nazvan "test suspenzije repa", to je brza i klasična metoda za procjenu antidepresivnog učinka lijekova na miševe.

Kod soja C57BL/6J (osjetljiv na stres), matcha čaj je pomogao u olakšavanju simptoma depresije, dok kod BALB/c (tolerantniji na stres) soja nije imao utjecaja. Istraživači su otkrili da ova namirnica utječe na povećanje razine dopamina kod miševa C57BL/6J. Rezultati studije pokazuju da matcha čaj u prahu ima potencijal kao pomoć za depresiju.

Tzall dodaje da su ovakvi rezultati ohrabrujući u pogledu pronalaska prirodnih načina ublažavanja depresije. No, on upozorava da ovo ne znači da će matcha čaj liječiti sve oblike depresije, što ne može nijedan lijek, nego da može biti pomoćni oblik liječenja.

Nadalje, budući da je studija provedena na miševima, potrebno je više podataka da bi se razumjelo koliko su rezultati primjenjivi na ljude, piše Živim.
