Cjepivo protiv koronavirusa koje je razvila AstraZeneca u suradnji sa Sveučilištem u Oxfordu postalo je u utorak prvo čija je efikasnost potvrđena u jednom znanstvenom časopisu, The Lancetu.
Objava tih rezultata, koji su prošli detaljnu analizu neovisnih znanstvenika, potvrđuje da je to cjepivo oko 70-posto učinkovito, u skladu s onim što je AstraZeneca objavila 23. studenoga.
To je jedno od tri cjepiva s čijim se razvojem najdalje došlo, samo godinu dana nakon pojave novog koronavirusa.
Druga dva su cjepivo američkog laboratorija Moderne i ono proizašlo iz američko-njemačkog partnerstva Pfizera i BioNTecha, kojim je Velika Britanija u utorak započela kampanju cijepljenja.
Druga dva imaju učinkovitost 94,1 posto i 95 posto, ali detaljni podaci o njima zasad nisu objavljeni ni u jednom znanstvenom časopisu.
Međutim, preneseni su različitim agencijama za lijekove čija je zadaća ispitati zahtjeve za njihovo stavljanje na tržište.
Tako je Američka agencija za lijekove (FDA) ocijenila u izvješću objavljenom u utorak da Pfizer/BioNTechovo cjepivo za covid-19 nije rizično u pogledu sigurnosti, a savjetodavni odbor agencije sastaje se u četvrtak, nakon čega FDA treba donijeti odluku radi odobrenja cjepiva koje je već dobilo zeleno svjetlo u Velikoj Britaniji i nekim drugim zemljama.
Međutim, činjenica da su podaci o cjepivu AstraZenece objavljeni u The Lancetu daje mogućnost znanstvenicima iz čitavog svijeta da ga detaljno ispitaju i da imaju jasniju sliku o njegovoj učinkovitosti i sigurnosti.
Cjepivo AZD1222 je oko 70-posto učinkovito, napisali su u The Lancetu znanstvenik Andrew Pollard i njegov tim. Međutim, ta učinkovitost ne predstavlja prosjek jer su u ispitivanju korištena dva protokola. Jedna je skupina primila dvije pune doze i kod nje je učinkovitost 62 posto, a druga slučajno najprije pola doze pa tek onda punu i kod nje je cjepivo imalo učinkovitost 90 posto.
Upitan je li pola a potom puna doza bio režim koji je bio planiran ili je došlo do greške, Pollard je rekao da je to bilo "neplanirano".
Po podacima koje je objavio The Lancet, cjepivo AstraZenece "je sigurno".
Od ukupno 23.754 dobrovoljaca koji su sudjelovali u ispitivanjima, samo je jedan imao "neželjenu ozbiljnu nuspojavu moguće vezanu" za cjepivo. Još je dvoje imalo nuspojave, ali je jedan od njih pripadao skupini koja je primila placebo, a za drugog se ne zna kojoj je skupini pripadao. Svo troje se oporavilo.
Ni u jednoj od skupina međutim nije bilo ljudi iznad 55 godina, stoga je teško reći kolika je učinkovitost cjepiva kod stariji ljudi.
Znanstvenici također nisu mogli potvrditi koliko dugo cjepivo pruža zaštitu.
Zemlje širom svijeta naručile su milijarde doza tog cjepiva, koje je testirano u Britaniji, Brazilu i Južnoafričkoj Republici.
U članku u The Lancetu kaže se i da AstraZeneca i Sveučilište u Oxfordu moraju dalje raditi kako bi potvrdili da im cjepivo može biti 90 posto učinkovito.
Cjepivo AstraZeneca/Oxford znanstvenicima je jako važno jer je jeftinije i lakše za distribuciju.

Cjepivo protiv koronavirusa koje je razvila AstraZeneca u suradnji sa Sveučilištem u Oxfordu postalo je u utorak prvo čija je efikasnost potvrđena u jednom znanstvenom časopisu, The Lancetu.
Objava tih rezultata, koji su prošli detaljnu analizu neovisnih znanstvenika, potvrđuje da je to cjepivo oko 70-posto učinkovito, u skladu s onim što je AstraZeneca objavila 23. studenoga.
To je jedno od tri cjepiva s čijim se razvojem najdalje došlo, samo godinu dana nakon pojave novog koronavirusa.
Druga dva su cjepivo američkog laboratorija Moderne i ono proizašlo iz američko-njemačkog partnerstva Pfizera i BioNTecha, kojim je Velika Britanija u utorak započela kampanju cijepljenja.
Druga dva imaju učinkovitost 94,1 posto i 95 posto, ali detaljni podaci o njima zasad nisu objavljeni ni u jednom znanstvenom časopisu.
Međutim, preneseni su različitim agencijama za lijekove čija je zadaća ispitati zahtjeve za njihovo stavljanje na tržište.
Tako je Američka agencija za lijekove (FDA) ocijenila u izvješću objavljenom u utorak da Pfizer/BioNTechovo cjepivo za covid-19 nije rizično u pogledu sigurnosti, a savjetodavni odbor agencije sastaje se u četvrtak, nakon čega FDA treba donijeti odluku radi odobrenja cjepiva koje je već dobilo zeleno svjetlo u Velikoj Britaniji i nekim drugim zemljama.
Međutim, činjenica da su podaci o cjepivu AstraZenece objavljeni u The Lancetu daje mogućnost znanstvenicima iz čitavog svijeta da ga detaljno ispitaju i da imaju jasniju sliku o njegovoj učinkovitosti i sigurnosti.
Cjepivo AZD1222 je oko 70-posto učinkovito, napisali su u The Lancetu znanstvenik Andrew Pollard i njegov tim. Međutim, ta učinkovitost ne predstavlja prosjek jer su u ispitivanju korištena dva protokola. Jedna je skupina primila dvije pune doze i kod nje je učinkovitost 62 posto, a druga slučajno najprije pola doze pa tek onda punu i kod nje je cjepivo imalo učinkovitost 90 posto.
Upitan je li pola a potom puna doza bio režim koji je bio planiran ili je došlo do greške, Pollard je rekao da je to bilo "neplanirano".
Po podacima koje je objavio The Lancet, cjepivo AstraZenece "je sigurno".
Od ukupno 23.754 dobrovoljaca koji su sudjelovali u ispitivanjima, samo je jedan imao "neželjenu ozbiljnu nuspojavu moguće vezanu" za cjepivo. Još je dvoje imalo nuspojave, ali je jedan od njih pripadao skupini koja je primila placebo, a za drugog se ne zna kojoj je skupini pripadao. Svo troje se oporavilo.
Ni u jednoj od skupina međutim nije bilo ljudi iznad 55 godina, stoga je teško reći kolika je učinkovitost cjepiva kod stariji ljudi.
Znanstvenici također nisu mogli potvrditi koliko dugo cjepivo pruža zaštitu.
Zemlje širom svijeta naručile su milijarde doza tog cjepiva, koje je testirano u Britaniji, Brazilu i Južnoafričkoj Republici.
