Stručnjaci Javnog zdravstva Engleske su lijek protiv covida koji se temelji na antitijelima ljama proglasili jednim od najučinkovitijih ikad testiranih, piše Telegraph.

Istraživači s Instituta Rosalind Franklin sa sjedištem u Oxfordshireu, istraživali su upotrebu antitijela ljame za liječenje covida-19 još otkad se virus prvi puta pojavio u Velikoj Britaniji 2020. godine - prenosi Jutarnji list.

Teorija se vrti oko neobične karakteristike imunološkog sustava životinja iz porodice Camelidae, koja uključuje deve i ljame, koji proizvodi sitna antitijela koja se zovu nanotijela.

Djeluju na isti način kao i ljudska antitijela i okružuju invazivni patogen, ali su znatno manja, što im omogućuje da bolje neutraliziraju svaku prijetnju.

Kako bi proizveli nanotijela specifična za covid, istraživači su u ljamu zvanu Fifi sa Sveučilišta u Readingu, ubrizgali protein šiljka koronavirusa, što je dio virusa pomoću kojega se virus veže i ulazi ljudske stanice.

Fifi se nije razboljela, ali je njezin imunološki sustav počeo proizvoditi nanotijela protiv proteina šiljka.

Istraživači su ih potom ekstrahirali putem uzoraka krvi i kombinirali u tri lanca kako bi povećali njihovu sposobnost vezivanja za viruse, a zatim su ih masovno proizveli u laboratoriju.

Laboratorijski testovi Javnog zdravstva Engleske, Sveučilišta u Oxfordu i Instituta Rosalind Franklin otkrili su da je liječenje nanotijelima ljame dramatično smanjilo težinu bolesti kod životinja.

Utvrđeno je da je upotreba tri spojena nanotijela učinkovita protiv izvorne i alfa varijante covida.

Dodavanjem četvrtog nanotijela uspjelo se uspješno liječiti beta varijantu, za koju su se znanstvenici pribojavali da bi mogla izbjeći antitijela nastala cijepljenjem.

Profesor Miles Carroll, zamjenik ravnatelja Nacionalne službe za infekcije pri Javnom zdravstvu Engleske, rekao je:

- Iako je ovo istraživanje još u ranoj fazi, ono otvara značajne mogućnosti za korištenje učinkovitih tretmana nanotijelima za covid-19. Ovo su među najučinkovitijim sredstvima za neutraliziranje Sars-CoV-2 koje smo ikada testirali.

Profesor Ray Owens, voditelj proizvodnje proteina na Institutu Rosalind Franklin i vodeći autor studije, kaže:

- Nanotijela imaju niz prednosti u odnosu na ljudska antitijela. Jeftinija su za proizvodnju i mogu se isporučiti izravno u dišne ​​putove putem raspršivača ili spreja za nos, pa se mogu primijeniti kod kuće, umjesto da im je potrebna injekcija. Stručnjaci Javnog zdravstva Engleske su lijek protiv covida koji se temelji na antitijelima ljama proglasili jednim od najučinkovitijih ikad testiranih, piše Telegraph.

Istraživači s Instituta Rosalind Franklin sa sjedištem u Oxfordshireu, istraživali su upotrebu antitijela ljame za liječenje covida-19 još otkad se virus prvi puta pojavio u Velikoj Britaniji 2020. godine - prenosi Jutarnji list.

Teorija se vrti oko neobične karakteristike imunološkog sustava životinja iz porodice Camelidae, koja uključuje deve i ljame, koji proizvodi sitna antitijela koja se zovu nanotijela.

Djeluju na isti način kao i ljudska antitijela i okružuju invazivni patogen, ali su znatno manja, što im omogućuje da bolje neutraliziraju svaku prijetnju.

Kako bi proizveli nanotijela specifična za covid, istraživači su u ljamu zvanu Fifi sa Sveučilišta u Readingu, ubrizgali protein šiljka koronavirusa, što je dio virusa pomoću kojega se virus veže i ulazi ljudske stanice.

Fifi se nije razboljela, ali je njezin imunološki sustav počeo proizvoditi nanotijela protiv proteina šiljka.

Laboratorijski testovi Javnog zdravstva Engleske, Sveučilišta u Oxfordu i Instituta Rosalind Franklin otkrili su da je liječenje nanotijelima ljame dramatično smanjilo težinu bolesti kod životinja.

Utvrđeno je da je upotreba tri spojena nanotijela učinkovita protiv izvorne i alfa varijante covida.

Dodavanjem četvrtog nanotijela uspjelo se uspješno liječiti beta varijantu, za koju su se znanstvenici pribojavali da bi mogla izbjeći antitijela nastala cijepljenjem.

Profesor Miles Carroll, zamjenik ravnatelja Nacionalne službe za infekcije pri Javnom zdravstvu Engleske, rekao je:

- Iako je ovo istraživanje još u ranoj fazi, ono otvara značajne mogućnosti za korištenje učinkovitih tretmana nanotijelima za covid-19. Ovo su među najučinkovitijim sredstvima za neutraliziranje Sars-CoV-2 koje smo ikada testirali.

- Vjerujemo da jedinstvena struktura i snaga nanotijela doprinose njihovom potencijalu kako za prevenciju, tako i za liječenje covida-19 i radujemo se zajedničkom radu na nastavku kliničkih studija, kazao je.

Profesor Ray Owens, voditelj proizvodnje proteina na Institutu Rosalind Franklin i vodeći autor studije, kaže:

- Nanotijela imaju niz prednosti u odnosu na ljudska antitijela. Jeftinija su za proizvodnju i mogu se isporučiti izravno u dišne ​​putove putem raspršivača ili spreja za nos, pa se mogu primijeniti kod kuće, umjesto da im je potrebna injekcija. Ovo bi moglo biti korisno u smislu jednostavne upotrebe od strane pacijenata, ali također znači i liječenje izravno na mjestu infekcije u respiratornom traktu, rekao je.

Stručnjaci Javnog zdravstva Engleske su lijek protiv covida koji se temelji na antitijelima ljama proglasili jednim od najučinkovitijih ikad testiranih, piše Telegraph.
