Premda je broj umrlih od covida premašio tri milijuna ljudi, farmaceutska industrija i bogate države još uvijek se ne žele odreći svojih patenata i prava na proizvodnju cjepiva, kako bi se cijeli svijet mogao ravnopravno i učinkovito boriti protiv korone.

Jedino takva borba protiv pandemije i ima smisla, jer selektivna zaštita neke nacije nije racionalna obrana od virusa na dulji rok. Ljudskom je rodu, međutim, oduvijek više prirođena sebičnost i slijepa briga za svoju pozadinu od svijesti o održivosti, inteligencije i altruizma: da nije tako, ne bi pripadnici hrvatske političke elite sebi i svojima grabili najbolja cjepiva, niti bi farmaceutske korporacije i vlasnici njihovih dionica bili opsjednuti profitom umjesto brzom normalizacijom života na planeti.

U svojoj nezajažljivosti oni uporno odbijaju tezu o cjepivu kao javnom dobru, te su ga od prvoga dana odlučile javno uskratiti svjetskoj sirotinji, bez obzira na konačne posljedice.

Čelnik Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije (WHO) Tedros Ghebreyesus pozvao je još jednom države i farmaceutske tvrtke  da se odreknu zaštite intelektualnog vlasništva kako bi se cijeli svijet jednako borio protiv korone.

Prema nedavnom izvještaju AFP-a, 50 posto dosad proizvedenih doza cjepiva potrošeno je isključivo na bogatom Zapadu, gdje živi samo 16 posto svjetske populacije. Zahvaljujući srebroljublju proizvođača cjepiva, svijet se nalazi u vrzinom kolu zaraze: dok se ne postigne ravnomjerna globalna procijepljenost nikome nema izlaska iz pandemije, a dok bogate zemlje svoju tehnologiju u proizvodnji cjepiva ne ustupaju drugima nego je drže pod kontrolom radi profita, ne može ni biti govora o globalnoj procijepljenosti.

Južna Afrika i Indija prve su odavno pozvale na (privremeno) odricanje od patenata na cjepiva kako bi se time siromašnim državama omogućila samostalna proizvodnja vakcina. Naknadno im se pridružilo osamdesetak zemalja u razvoju i skupine poput Liječnika bez granica i Amnesty Internationala.

Zemlje koje su proizvođači cjepiva - Britanija, Švicarska, SAD i još neke – uspješno su osujetile sve takve zahtjeve, uglavnom uz pomoć Svjetske trgovinske organizacije (WTO), te pravdajući se da intelektualno vlasništvo nad cjepivima omogućuje bolje inovacije, efikasnija istraživanja i kvalitetniju zaštitu od plagijata.

Velikim farmaceutskim korporacijama, međutim, nije nimalo smetalo dosad primiti više od 10 milijardi dolara novca iz javnih fondova za istraživanje cjepiva koje smatraju svojim isključivim vlasništvom, niti smatraju da ih uzimanje tih milijardi od naroda na išta obvezuje. Pravo na profit bahato je stavljeno ispred svih ljudskih života, ali i ispred brzoga kraja najveće zdravstvene krize u zadnjih stotinu godina. Što na neki način i ne čudi, jer produljenje epidemije farmaceutskim milijarderima sigurno donosi još puno novih milijardi.

Rijetke su kompanije, poput Moderne, odlučile da neće primjenjivati patente na svoja cjepiva tijekom pandemije.

„To, međutim, ne znači ništa ako ne podijele s zainteresiranima i svoj know-how“ - misli Olivier Wouters, profesor u londonskoj školi javnoga zdravlja.

On tvrdi da su bogate zemlje koje su financirale razvoj cjepiva mogle tražiti puno više od kompanija s kojima su sklapale ugovore, te da su ih trebale staviti pred dilemu: financirati ćemo razvoj i proizvodnju vašeg cjepiva, ali pod uvjetom da surađujete s kolegama iz Indije, Brazila i s ostalim zainteresiranim proizvođačima iz svijeta.

Graham Dutfield, profesor na Sveučilištu u Leedsu, slaže se s Woutersom te odricanje od patenata bez podjele znanja za proizvodnju cjepiva uspoređuje s liječničkim receptom bez uputa.

"Trebaju nam regionalni centri diljem svijeta, u Africi, Latinskoj Americi i Oceaniji, koji će proizvoditi cjepiva za globalne potrebe", zaključuje.

Prema svim relevantnim analizama, zemlje poput Velike Britanije, SAD-a, Izraela i najvećeg dijela EU-a vjerojatno će postići široku procijepljenost i zaštitu prioritetnih i ranjivih skupina prije kraja 2021. godine. Krug manje razvijenih zapadnih zemalja taj će cilj vjerojatno ostvariti do sredine 2022., a većina zemalja sa srednjim dohotkom procijepiti će svoje kritične slojeve populacije do kraja iduće godine.

Proračuni javnozdravstvenih eksperata govore da više od 80 najsiromašnijih zemalja svijeta relevantne doze cjepiva neće dobiti sve do 2024. To će produbiti globalni ekonomski rascjep, ali i definirati ukupni tempo svjetske borbe sa zarazom, kao i globalnu slobodu kretanja, putovanja, trgovine.

U ovim zemljama tinjati će rezervni bazen virusa koji se u svakom trenutku kroz nove sojeve iznova može proširiti cijelim svijetom. Nitko na svijetu neće biti siguran dok od virusa ne budu sigurni svi, no tu gorku istinu – kakve li slučajnosti – ignoriraju baš oni koji od pandemije imaju najviše financijske koristi. I nitko im, navodno, ne može ništa.

Izumitelja cjepiva protiv dječje paralize Jonasa Salka svojedobno su pitali tko je vlasnik prava na to spasonosno cjepivo, a on im je odgovorio protupitanjem: Tko može imati isključivo pravo na Sunce? To pripada svima.

Svijet se od onda, međutim, promijenio, a još više čovjek. Postao je u mnogim aspektima suroviji, pohlepniji, bezočniji i bešćutniji, tj. evidentno gluplji.

Premda je broj umrlih od covida premašio tri milijuna ljudi, farmaceutska industrija i bogate države još uvijek se ne žele odreći svojih patenata i prava na proizvodnju cjepiva, kako bi se cijeli svijet mogao ravnopravno i učinkovito boriti protiv korone.

Jedino takva borba protiv pandemije i ima smisla, jer selektivna zaštita neke nacije nije racionalna obrana od virusa na dulji rok. Ljudskom je rodu, međutim, oduvijek više prirođena sebičnost i slijepa briga za svoju pozadinu od svijesti o održivosti, inteligencije i altruizma: da nije tako, ne bi pripadnici hrvatske političke elite sebi i svojima grabili najbolja cjepiva, niti bi farmaceutske korporacije i vlasnici njihovih dionica bili opsjednuti profitom umjesto brzom normalizacijom života na planeti.

U svojoj nezajažljivosti oni uporno odbijaju tezu o cjepivu kao javnom dobru, te su ga od prvoga dana odlučile javno uskratiti svjetskoj sirotinji, bez obzira na konačne posljedice.

Čelnik Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije (WHO) Tedros Ghebreyesus pozvao je još jednom države i farmaceutske tvrtke  da se odreknu zaštite intelektualnog vlasništva kako bi se cijeli svijet jednako borio protiv korone.

Prema nedavnom izvještaju AFP-a, 50 posto dosad proizvedenih doza cjepiva potrošeno je isključivo na bogatom Zapadu, gdje živi samo 16 posto svjetske populacije. Zahvaljujući srebroljublju proizvođača cjepiva, svijet se nalazi u vrzinom kolu zaraze: dok se ne postigne ravnomjerna globalna procijepljenost nikome nema izlaska iz pandemije, a dok bogate zemlje svoju tehnologiju u proizvodnji cjepiva ne ustupaju drugima nego je drže pod kontrolom radi profita, ne može ni biti govora o globalnoj procijepljenosti.

Južna Afrika i Indija prve su odavno pozvale na (privremeno) odricanje od patenata na cjepiva kako bi se time siromašnim državama omogućila samostalna proizvodnja vakcina. Naknadno im se pridružilo osamdesetak zemalja u razvoju i skupine poput Liječnika bez granica i Amnesty Internationala.

Zemlje koje su proizvođači cjepiva - Britanija, Švicarska, SAD i još neke – uspješno su osujetile sve takve zahtjeve, uglavnom uz pomoć Svjetske trgovinske organizacije (WTO), te pravdajući se da intelektualno vlasništvo nad cjepivima omogućuje bolje inovacije, efikasnija istraživanja i kvalitetniju zaštitu od plagijata.

Velikim farmaceutskim korporacijama, međutim, nije nimalo smetalo dosad primiti više od 10 milijardi dolara novca iz javnih fondova za istraživanje cjepiva koje smatraju svojim isključivim vlasništvom, niti smatraju da ih uzimanje tih milijardi od naroda na išta obvezuje. Pravo na profit bahato je stavljeno ispred svih ljudskih života, ali i ispred brzoga kraja najveće zdravstvene krize u zadnjih stotinu godina. Što na neki način i ne čudi, jer produljenje epidemije farmaceutskim milijarderima sigurno donosi još puno novih milijardi.

Rijetke su kompanije, poput Moderne, odlučile da neće primjenjivati patente na svoja cjepiva tijekom pandemije.

„To, međutim, ne znači ništa ako ne podijele s zainteresiranima i svoj know-how“ - misli Olivier Wouters, profesor u londonskoj školi javnoga zdravlja.

On tvrdi da su bogate zemlje koje su financirale razvoj cjepiva mogle tražiti puno više od kompanija s kojima su sklapale ugovore, te da su ih trebale staviti pred dilemu: financirati ćemo razvoj i proizvodnju vašeg cjepiva, ali pod uvjetom da surađujete s kolegama iz Indije, Brazila i s ostalim zainteresiranim proizvođačima iz svijeta.

Graham Dutfield, profesor na Sveučilištu u Leedsu, slaže se s Woutersom te odricanje od patenata bez podjele znanja za proizvodnju cjepiva uspoređuje s liječničkim receptom bez uputa.

"Trebaju nam regionalni centri diljem svijeta, u Africi, Latinskoj Americi i Oceaniji, koji će proizvoditi cjepiva za globalne potrebe", zaključuje.

Prema svim relevantnim analizama, zemlje poput Velike Britanije, SAD-a, Izraela i najvećeg dijela EU-a vjerojatno će postići široku procijepljenost i zaštitu prioritetnih i ranjivih skupina prije kraja 2021. godine. Krug manje razvijenih zapadnih zemalja taj će cilj vjerojatno ostvariti do sredine 2022., a većina zemalja sa srednjim dohotkom procijepiti će svoje kritične slojeve populacije do kraja iduće godine.

Proračuni javnozdravstvenih eksperata govore da više od 80 najsiromašnijih zemalja svijeta relevantne doze cjepiva neće dobiti sve do 2024. To će produbiti globalni ekonomski rascjep, ali i definirati ukupni tempo svjetske borbe sa zarazom, kao i globalnu slobodu kretanja, putovanja, trgovine.

U ovim zemljama tinjati će rezervni bazen virusa koji se u svakom trenutku kroz nove sojeve iznova može proširiti cijelim svijetom. Nitko na svijetu neće biti siguran dok od virusa ne budu sigurni svi, no tu gorku istinu – kakve li slučajnosti – ignoriraju baš oni koji od pandemije imaju najviše financijske koristi. I nitko im, navodno, ne može ništa.

Izumitelja cjepiva protiv dječje paralize Jonasa Salka svojedobno su pitali tko je vlasnik prava na to spasonosno cjepivo, a on im je odgovorio protupitanjem: Tko može imati isključivo pravo na Sunce? To pripada svima.

Svijet se od onda, međutim, promijenio, a još više čovjek. Postao je u mnogim aspektima suroviji, pohlepniji, bezočniji i bešćutniji, tj. evidentno gluplji.
