Uvođenje cjepiva AstraZenece na koje se većina svijeta oslanja u borbi protiv pandemije covida-19, u četvrtak se suočilo s novim poteškoćama jer je Indija zaustavila izvoz cjepiva, a Europa raspravlja o vlastitoj kontroli izvoza.
Indija je privremeno obustavila izvoz cjepiva britansko-švedske tvrtke iz Instituta za serum u Indiji (SII), najvećeg svjetskog proizvođača cjepiva, kako bi zadovoljila domaću potražnju za cjepivom nakon porasta zaraza u toj zemlji, otkrila su dva izvora.
Time bi se moglo odgoditi slanje pošiljki cjepiva desecima siromašnijih zemalja koje se također oslanjaju na proizvodnju SII-ja u okviru programa podjele cjepiva COVAX, koji podržava Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (WHO).
"Isporuke cjepiva protiv covida-19 gospodarstvima s nižim dohotkom unutar programa COVAX vjerojatno će biti odgođene...", rekli su za Reuters iz UNICEF-a koji je partner tog programa.
Potez Indije uslijedio je u trenutku kad Europska unija razmatra da se članicama daju veće ovlasti da blokiraju izvoz cjepiva izvan bloka jer se većina bori s porastom zaraza i nastoji ubrzati cijepljenje.
Prijedlog bi se odnosio na sva cjepiva pa i AstraZenecu na koju se EU prvo oslanjala kako bi dostigla svoj cilj od imunizacije 70 posto odrasle populacije do ljeta.
EU optužuje AstraZenecu, koja je razvila cjepivo s Oxfordom, da nepravedno favorizira Veliku Britaniju, što britansko-švedska tvrtka odbacuje.
Cjepivo AstraZenece smatra se presudnim u suzbijanju pandemije zato što je jeftinije i jer se jednostavnije prevozi od većine suparničkih cjepiva.
Bruxelles i London ovaj tjedan su se dogovorili da će težiti "win-win" rješenju, no EU ima još jedan problem - opada povjerenje u cjepivo AstraZenece zbog zabrinutosti o nuspojavama i podacima o učinkovitosti.
Danska će obustaviti uporabu tog cjepiva na još tri tjedna dok se ne istraže potencijalne veze između cjepiva i krvnih ugrušaka, objavio je danski kanal TV2.
Više od 10 drugih zemalja također je obustavilo uporabu cjepiva zbog sličnih bojazni, ali većina je ponovno počela cijepiti AstraZenecom.
Europska agencija za lijekove (EMA) objavila je prošli tjedan da je cjepivo sigurno, ali mnogi Europljani su zadržali oprez.
Trećina Danaca odbila bi se cijepiti AstraZenecom, pokazuje istraživanje koje su u srijedu objavili danski mediji. Povjerenje u to cjepivo palo je i u Španjolskoj, Njemačkoj, Francuskoj i Italiji.
Nakon što su američke vlasti upozorile da su objavljeni podaci kliničkog ispitivanja cjepiva zastarjeli, AstraZeneca je u srijedu revidirala za tri postotna boda rezultat istraživanja o učinkovitosti svoga cjepiva protiv covida-19.
Tvrtka navodi da je učinkovitost cjepiva 76 posto u sprječavanju simptomatskog covida-19, umjesto 79 posto koliko je objavila prije nekoliko dana.
AstraZeneca, koja čeka odobrenje za uporabu u SAD-u, dodaje da je cjepivo i dalje 100 posto učinkovito u sprječavanju teškog oblika covida-19.
Cjepivo AstraZenece već je dobilo odobrenje za hitnu uporabu u više od 70 zemalja.
Čelnici Francuske i Njemačke priznali su u četvrtak da problem sporog uvođenja cijepljenja u EU-u nadilazi pitanje o kontroli izvoza.
Njemačka kancelarka Angela Merkel rekla je da će lideri EU-a raspravljati i o jačanju proizvodnje cjepiva u bloku.
"Britanska proizvodna postrojenja proizvode za Britaniju, a SAD ne izvozi pa se pouzdajemo u ono što možemo učiniti u Europi", rekla je Merkel njemačkim zastupnicima.
Francuski predsjednik Emmanuel Macron rekao je da Unija treba priznati da je njezinim planovima cijepljenja nedostajalo ambicije.
"Nismo ciljali u zvijezde", rekao je Macron za grčki televizijski kanal ERT. "To bi nam svima trebala biti lekcija", dodao je.

Uvođenje cjepiva AstraZenece na koje se većina svijeta oslanja u borbi protiv pandemije covida-19, u četvrtak se suočilo s novim poteškoćama jer je Indija zaustavila izvoz cjepiva, a Europa raspravlja o vlastitoj kontroli izvoza.
Indija je privremeno obustavila izvoz cjepiva britansko-švedske tvrtke iz Instituta za serum u Indiji (SII), najvećeg svjetskog proizvođača cjepiva, kako bi zadovoljila domaću potražnju za cjepivom nakon porasta zaraza u toj zemlji, otkrila su dva izvora.
Time bi se moglo odgoditi slanje pošiljki cjepiva desecima siromašnijih zemalja koje se također oslanjaju na proizvodnju SII-ja u okviru programa podjele cjepiva COVAX, koji podržava Svjetska zdravstvena organizacija (WHO).
"Isporuke cjepiva protiv covida-19 gospodarstvima s nižim dohotkom unutar programa COVAX vjerojatno će biti odgođene...", rekli su za Reuters iz UNICEF-a koji je partner tog programa.
Potez Indije uslijedio je u trenutku kad Europska unija razmatra da se članicama daju veće ovlasti da blokiraju izvoz cjepiva izvan bloka jer se većina bori s porastom zaraza i nastoji ubrzati cijepljenje.
Prijedlog bi se odnosio na sva cjepiva pa i AstraZenecu na koju se EU prvo oslanjala kako bi dostigla svoj cilj od imunizacije 70 posto odrasle populacije do ljeta.
EU optužuje AstraZenecu, koja je razvila cjepivo s Oxfordom, da nepravedno favorizira Veliku Britaniju, što britansko-švedska tvrtka odbacuje.
Cjepivo AstraZenece smatra se presudnim u suzbijanju pandemije zato što je jeftinije i jer se jednostavnije prevozi od većine suparničkih cjepiva.
Bruxelles i London ovaj tjedan su se dogovorili da će težiti "win-win" rješenju, no EU ima još jedan problem - opada povjerenje u cjepivo AstraZenece zbog zabrinutosti o nuspojavama i podacima o učinkovitosti.
Danska će obustaviti uporabu tog cjepiva na još tri tjedna dok se ne istraže potencijalne veze između cjepiva i krvnih ugrušaka, objavio je danski kanal TV2.
Više od 10 drugih zemalja također je obustavilo uporabu cjepiva zbog sličnih bojazni, ali većina je ponovno počela cijepiti AstraZenecom.
Europska agencija za lijekove (EMA) objavila je prošli tjedan da je cjepivo sigurno, ali mnogi Europljani su zadržali oprez.
Trećina Danaca odbila bi se cijepiti AstraZenecom, pokazuje istraživanje koje su u srijedu objavili danski mediji. Povjerenje u to cjepivo palo je i u Španjolskoj, Njemačkoj, Francuskoj i Italiji.
Nakon što su američke vlasti upozorile da su objavljeni podaci kliničkog ispitivanja cjepiva zastarjeli, AstraZeneca je u srijedu revidirala za tri postotna boda rezultat istraživanja o učinkovitosti svoga cjepiva protiv covida-19.
Tvrtka navodi da je učinkovitost cjepiva 76 posto u sprječavanju simptomatskog covida-19, umjesto 79 posto koliko je objavila prije nekoliko dana.
AstraZeneca, koja čeka odobrenje za uporabu u SAD-u, dodaje da je cjepivo i dalje 100 posto učinkovito u sprječavanju teškog oblika covida-19.
Cjepivo AstraZenece već je dobilo odobrenje za hitnu uporabu u više od 70 zemalja.
Čelnici Francuske i Njemačke priznali su u četvrtak da problem sporog uvođenja cijepljenja u EU-u nadilazi pitanje o kontroli izvoza.
Njemačka kancelarka Angela Merkel rekla je da će lideri EU-a raspravljati i o jačanju proizvodnje cjepiva u bloku.
"Britanska proizvodna postrojenja proizvode za Britaniju, a SAD ne izvozi pa se pouzdajemo u ono što možemo učiniti u Europi", rekla je Merkel njemačkim zastupnicima.
Francuski predsjednik Emmanuel Macron rekao je da Unija treba priznati da je njezinim planovima cijepljenja nedostajalo ambicije.
"Nismo ciljali u zvijezde", rekao je Macron za grčki televizijski kanal ERT. "To bi nam svima trebala biti lekcija", dodao je.
