Američka svemirska agencija očekuje da će Asteroid 388945 (2008 TZ3) proći tik uz našu planetu 15. svibnja. Velika svemirska stijena, procijenjuje se, široka je nešto manje od 500 metara. Za usporedbu, legendarni Empire Space Building visok je 443 metra. Kad bi asteroid ove veličine pogodio Zemlju, izazvao bi ozbiljnu štetu, piše Jutarnji list.

Međutim, nema razloga za paniku jer bi Asteroid 388945 (2008 TZ3) trebao proletjeti na udaljenosti od oko 5,6 milijuna kilometara od Zemlje.

To se može činiti prilično daleko, ali uzevši u obzir ukupnu veličinu svemira, to uopće nije tako velika udaljenost. To je ujedno i razlog zašto je NASA ovaj događaj opisala kao 'bliski susret'.

Kad se asteroid te veličine približi Zemlji na manje od 7,4 milijuna kilometara, oprezne svemirske agencije to smatraju 'potencijalno opasnim'. Asteroid koji će proći blizu Zemlje, uklapa se u taj opis.

Uz Zemlju će proletjeti brzinom većom od 28.000 km/h. NASA kaže kako bi asteroid trebao proći uz Zemlju oko 10:18 po srednjoeuropskom vremenu.

Šef SpaceX-a, Elon Musk, potaknuo je zabrinutost kad je na Twitteru napisao da će 'veliki asteroid jednom sigurno pogoditi Zemlju, a da mi trenutno nemamo nikakvu obranu', iako NASA razmatra neke metode obrane.

Nedavno je, tako, lansirala misiju Testiranja dvostruke redirekcije asteroida (eng. Double Asteroid Redirection Test - DART).

'DART je prva ikada pokrenuta misija posvećena istraživanju i demonstriranju metode odvraćanja asteroida promjenom kretanja asteroida u svemiru primjenom kinetičkog udara.'

DART letjelica bi u rujnu trebala udariti u mali asteroid nazvan Dimorphos kako bi se pokušala promijeniti njegova putanja.

Američka svemirska agencija očekuje da će Asteroid 388945 (2008 TZ3) proći tik uz našu planetu 15. svibnja. Velika svemirska stijena, procijenjuje se, široka je nešto manje od 500 metara. Za usporedbu, legendarni Empire Space Building visok je 443 metra. Kad bi asteroid ove veličine pogodio Zemlju, izazvao bi ozbiljnu štetu, piše Jutarnji list.

Međutim, nema razloga za paniku jer bi Asteroid 388945 (2008 TZ3) trebao proletjeti na udaljenosti od oko 5,6 milijuna kilometara od Zemlje.

To se može činiti prilično daleko, ali uzevši u obzir ukupnu veličinu svemira, to uopće nije tako velika udaljenost. To je ujedno i razlog zašto je NASA ovaj događaj opisala kao 'bliski susret'.

Kad se asteroid te veličine približi Zemlji na manje od 7,4 milijuna kilometara, oprezne svemirske agencije to smatraju 'potencijalno opasnim'. Asteroid koji će proći blizu Zemlje, uklapa se u taj opis.

Uz Zemlju će proletjeti brzinom većom od 28.000 km/h. NASA kaže kako bi asteroid trebao proći uz Zemlju oko 10:18 po srednjoeuropskom vremenu.

Šef SpaceX-a, Elon Musk, potaknuo je zabrinutost kad je na Twitteru napisao da će 'veliki asteroid jednom sigurno pogoditi Zemlju, a da mi trenutno nemamo nikakvu obranu', iako NASA razmatra neke metode obrane.

Nedavno je, tako, lansirala misiju Testiranja dvostruke redirekcije asteroida (eng. Double Asteroid Redirection Test - DART).

'DART je prva ikada pokrenuta misija posvećena istraživanju i demonstriranju metode odvraćanja asteroida promjenom kretanja asteroida u svemiru primjenom kinetičkog udara.'

DART letjelica bi u rujnu trebala udariti u mali asteroid nazvan Dimorphos kako bi se pokušala promijeniti njegova putanja.

NASA na oprezu: U nedjelju će tik uz našu planetu proći asteroid čije su dimenzije usporedive s najvećim neboderima svijeta

Američka svemirska agencija očekuje da će Asteroid 388945 (2008 TZ3) proći tik uz našu planetu 15. svibnja. Velika svemirska stijena, procijenjuje se, široka je nešto manje od 500 metara. Za usporedbu, legendarni Empire Space Building visok je 443 metra. Kad bi asteroid ove veličine pogodio Zemlju, izazvao bi ozbiljnu štetu, piše Jutarnji list.

Međutim, nema razloga za paniku jer bi Asteroid 388945 (2008 TZ3) trebao proletjeti na udaljenosti od oko 5,6 milijuna kilometara od Zemlje.

To se može činiti prilično daleko, ali uzevši u obzir ukupnu veličinu svemira, to uopće nije tako velika udaljenost. To je ujedno i razlog zašto je NASA ovaj događaj opisala kao 'bliski susret'.

Kad se asteroid te veličine približi Zemlji na manje od 7,4 milijuna kilometara, oprezne...
