Lovac na uragane, Nick Underwood , koji već šest godina leti kroz oluje, kazao je da je uragan Ian koji je stigao do obale Floride, najgori od svih u čijem je središtu dosad bio.
‘Nikad nisam vidio toliko svjetlosti u unutrašnjosti uragana‘, napisao je na Twitteru, a sve je potkrijepio fotografijama.
‘Morate shvatiti da je noć, a da ova svjetlost dolazi od munja‘, pojasnio je inženjer Underwood.

Dodao je da je posada američke Nacionalne agencije za praćenje oceana i atmosfere (NOAA) u avionu tipa Lockheed WP-3D Orion, kojeg od milja zovu Kermit, zaokružila unutar uragana kako bi omogućili besposadnom sustavu da prikupi podatke.

Lovac na oluje Reed Timmer dokumentirao je pak na Twitteru oluju na otoku Pine na Floridi, dok je uragan Ian udarao po tom području.

Upravitelj za hitne situacije u Cape Coralu na Floridi, Alvin Henderson , kazao je za CNN kako će Ian, snažna oluja 4. kategorije s vjetrovima tek nešto slabijm od 5. kategorije, "prema svim pokazateljima trenutno vjerojatno biti jedan od najgorih uragana" koje je regija ikada vidjela.
‘Uskoro ćemo vidjeti kako se taj snažan nalet jakih vjetrova, vjetrova od 160 i više kilometara na sat, približava kopnu‘, kazao je pa objasnio da će nakon početne oluje doći kratko potencijalno sunčano razdoblje, a onda će se olujni vjetar vratiti.
‘To je ono što nas zabrinjava, pobrinite se da naša zajednica to razumije‘, kazao je Henderson i dodao da planiraju najgori mogući scenarij, ali se nadaju najboljem.
Predviđaju da će se jaki vjetrovi smiriti u četvrtak ujutro te će se tek tada moći vratiti operacijama raščišćavanja na terenu.
Oluja treće kategorije već je pogodila Kubu i prisilila stanovništvo na masovnu evakuaciju te u potpunosti prekinula opskrbu strujom. Poginulo je dvoje ljudi, a oluja je uništila velik broj kuća i ostavila cijelu zemlju u mraku.

Više od 2,5 milijuna stanovnika Floride je pod naredbama o evakuaciji ili upozorenjima, a prema procjeni Nacionalnog centra za uragane Ian će poharati obalu južno od Tampe, u blizini Sarasote, gdje su kilometri pješčanih plaža i brojna odmarališta, omiljena među umirovljenicima i turistima.
Stanovnici su zabarikadirali vrata i prozore daskama, napunili vreće pijeskom kako bi zaštitili svoje domove i spremili dragocjene stvari na više katove u iščekivanju najjačeg uragana u posljednjih stotinu godina u toj saveznoj američkoj državi.
Guverner Ron DeSantis proglasio je izvanredno stanje u svih 67 okruga Floride.
"Ovo je velika oluja. To je oluja koja je opasna po život", upozorio je DeSantis na konferenciji za novinare. Guverner je pozvao stanovnike da se opskrbe hranom, vodom, lijekovima i gorivom te je aktivirao 7000 pripadnika Nacionalne garde za pomoć stanovništvu.

Lovac na uragane, Nick Underwood , koji već šest godina leti kroz oluje, kazao je da je uragan Ian koji je stigao do obale Floride, najgori od svih u čijem je središtu dosad bio.

Dodao je da je posada američke Nacionalne agencije za praćenje oceana i atmosfere (NOAA) u avionu tipa Lockheed WP-3D Orion, kojeg od milja zovu Kermit, zaokružila unutar uragana kako bi omogućili besposadnom sustavu da prikupi podatke.

Upravitelj za hitne situacije u Cape Coralu na Floridi, Alvin Henderson , kazao je za CNN kako će Ian, snažna oluja 4. kategorije s vjetrovima tek nešto slabijm od 5. kategorije, "prema svim pokazateljima trenutno vjerojatno biti jedan od najgorih uragana" koje je regija ikada vidjela.
‘Uskoro ćemo vidjeti kako se taj snažan nalet jakih vjetrova, vjetrova od 160 i više kilometara na sat, približava kopnu‘, kazao je pa objasnio da će nakon početne oluje doći kratko potencijalno sunčano razdoblje, a onda će se olujni vjetar vratiti.
‘To je ono što nas zabrinjava, pobrinite se da naša zajednica to razumije‘, kazao je Henderson i dodao da planiraju najgori mogući scenarij, ali se nadaju najboljem.
Predviđaju da će se jaki vjetrovi smiriti u četvrtak ujutro te će se tek tada moći vratiti operacijama raščišćavanja na terenu.
Oluja treće kategorije već je pogodila Kubu i prisilila stanovništvo na masovnu evakuaciju te u potpunosti prekinula opskrbu strujom. Poginulo je dvoje ljudi, a oluja je uništila velik broj kuća i ostavila cijelu zemlju u mraku.

Više od 2,5 milijuna stanovnika Floride je pod naredbama o evakuaciji ili upozorenjima, a prema procjeni Nacionalnog centra za uragane Ian će poharati obalu južno od Tampe, u blizini Sarasote, gdje su kilometri pješčanih plaža i brojna odmarališta, omiljena među umirovljenicima i turistima.
Stanovnici su zabarikadirali vrata i prozore daskama, napunili vreće pijeskom kako bi zaštitili svoje domove i spremili dragocjene stvari na više katove u iščekivanju najjačeg uragana u posljednjih stotinu godina u toj saveznoj američkoj državi.
Guverner Ron DeSantis proglasio je izvanredno stanje u svih 67 okruga Floride.
"Ovo je velika oluja. To je oluja koja je opasna po život", upozorio je DeSantis na konferenciji za novinare. Guverner je pozvao stanovnike da se opskrbe hranom, vodom, lijekovima i gorivom te je aktivirao 7000 pripadnika Nacionalne garde za pomoć stanovništvu.
