Kultura otkazivanja, ili cancel culture, razmahala se posljednjih godina na različitim područjima, od likovne umjetnosti, književnosti, politike, medija i društvenih mreža.

Razlozi zbog kojih se u to upušta najčešće su politička, rodna ili rasna ravnopravnost, a isključivanje zna dolaziti slijeva ili zdesna, od takozvane elite ili običnih ljudi. Na meti se nalaze i školske lektire, spomenici, pa i poznate osobe poput J.K. Rowling.

U posljednje vrijeme sve su prisutniji glasovi protiv takve prakse koja je zahvatila i Nizozemsku i izazvala konfontacije.

Tako su na Sveučilištu Leiden u NIzozemskoj iz sveučilišne dvorane za sastanke uklonili sliku Reina Doola iz 1970-ih koja prikazuje zaslužne članove sveučilišnog odbora kako sastanče i puše cigare.

Umjetničko djelo, za koje godinama neki studenti tvrde da podržava patrijarhat i pušenje, tijekom sastanka odbora u studenome skinuto je sa zida i okrenuto prema njemu.

To je pozdravio tamošnji profesor porezne i socijalne politike Koen Caminada, dok je drugi bivši profesor i bivši ministar, Uri Rosenthal, nazvao "sramotom i glupošću takozvanih intelektualnih profesora". Profesor međunarodnih odnosa Rob de Wijk uklanjanje slike nazvao je pokušajem prekrajanja povijesti, a sam, danas 90-godišnji slikar akciju je nazvao glupom i tužnom, piše Guardian.

Grad Leiden, njegovo sveučilište i Nizozemsku potresaju pitanja kolonijalne prošlosti i kulture otkazivanja

Situacija na Sveučilištu Leiden zrcali tako u javnosti prisutne podjele oko nizozemske kolonijalne povijesti. Prema informacijama sa Sveučilišta, slika je vraćena na staro mjesto.

"Ne osjećaju se svi predstavljeni ovim ikoničnim djelom kojemu sada nedostaje kontekst. To je impresivno umjetničko djelo i ponosni smo na bivše upravitelje koji su prikazani na slici. Akciju vidimo kao početak rasprave o tom pitanju i naše je sveučilište izvrsno mjesto za to. Sada će jedno povjerenstvo razmotriti što dalje, i što se tiče drugih umjetničkih djela i načina na koji se ona izlažu na Sveučilištu. Mi na Sveučilištu Leiden, bastionu slobode, možemo raspravu održati kao nitko drugi. Rasprava često vodi do novih saznanja i vrijednih uvida", rekla je rektorica sveučilišta Annetje Ottow, piše Guardian.

Slika je dakle opet na svome starome mjestu, do rasprave koje će uslijediti i koju treba podržati. Olaka kultura otkazivanja može biti put u slijepu ulicu i može prizvati usporedbe s mračnim razdobljima povijesti u kojemu su se najprije uklanjala nepoćudna umjetnička djela, a za njima i nepoćudni ljudi.

Kultura otkazivanja, ili cancel culture, razmahala se posljednjih godina na različitim područjima, od likovne umjetnosti, književnosti, politike, medija i društvenih mreža.

Razlozi zbog kojih se u to upušta najčešće su politička, rodna ili rasna ravnopravnost, a isključivanje zna dolaziti slijeva ili zdesna, od takozvane elite ili običnih ljudi. Na meti se nalaze i školske lektire, spomenici, pa i poznate osobe poput J.K. Rowling.

U posljednje vrijeme sve su prisutniji glasovi protiv takve prakse koja je zahvatila i Nizozemsku i izazvala konfontacije.

Tako su na Sveučilištu Leiden u NIzozemskoj iz sveučilišne dvorane za sastanke uklonili sliku Reina Doola iz 1970-ih koja prikazuje zaslužne članove sveučilišnog odbora kako sastanče i puše cigare.

Umjetničko djelo, za koje godinama neki studenti tvrde da podržava patrijarhat i pušenje, tijekom sastanka odbora u studenome skinuto je sa zida i okrenuto prema njemu.

To je pozdravio tamošnji profesor porezne i socijalne politike Koen Caminada, dok je drugi bivši profesor i bivši ministar, Uri Rosenthal, nazvao "sramotom i glupošću takozvanih intelektualnih profesora". Profesor međunarodnih odnosa Rob de Wijk uklanjanje slike nazvao je pokušajem prekrajanja povijesti, a sam, danas 90-godišnji slikar akciju je nazvao glupom i tužnom, piše Guardian.

Situacija na Sveučilištu Leiden zrcali tako u javnosti prisutne podjele oko nizozemske kolonijalne povijesti. Prema informacijama sa Sveučilišta, slika je vraćena na staro mjesto.

"Ne osjećaju se svi predstavljeni ovim ikoničnim djelom kojemu sada nedostaje kontekst. To je impresivno umjetničko djelo i ponosni smo na bivše upravitelje koji su prikazani na slici. Akciju vidimo kao početak rasprave o tom pitanju i naše je sveučilište izvrsno mjesto za to. Sada će jedno povjerenstvo razmotriti što dalje, i što se tiče drugih umjetničkih djela i načina na koji se ona izlažu na Sveučilištu. Mi na Sveučilištu Leiden, bastionu slobode, možemo raspravu održati kao nitko drugi. Rasprava često vodi do novih saznanja i vrijednih uvida", rekla je rektorica sveučilišta Annetje Ottow, piše Guardian.

Slika je dakle opet na svome starome mjestu, do rasprave koje će uslijediti i koju treba podržati. Olaka kultura otkazivanja može biti put u slijepu ulicu i može prizvati usporedbe s mračnim razdobljima povijesti u kojemu su se najprije uklanjala nepoćudna umjetnička djela, a za njima i nepoćudni ljudi.
