Sve su glasniji zahtjevi u Indoneziji da vojska obustavi praksu provjere djevičanstva za žene koje se žele pridružiti oružanim snagama, posebice nakon što je glavni zapovjednik vojske prošli mjesec kazao da bi se "testovi djevičanstva" trebali ukinuti.

Načelnik glavnog stožera kopnenih snaga, general Andika Perkasa, 18. srpnja je kazao da bi testovi za žene koje se žele pridružiti oružanim snagama trebali biti isti kao za njihove muške kolege.

Njegovu izjavu odmah je pozdravio Human Rights Watch (HRW) koji tu praksu smatra ponižavajućom, nasilničkom, diskriminacijskom i neznanstvenom.

Andika je kazao da zdravstvene preglede koji nisu relevantni za postupak regrutacije treba ukinuti.

No, glasnogovornik oružanih snaga Djawara Whimbo je kazao da je pregled ženskih reproduktivnih organa, koji uključuje i pregled himena, i dalje obvezan za novakinje.

Taj se zahtjev odnosi i na zaručnice vojnog osoblja, dodao je glasnogovornik.

Potrebu za takvim pregledom je objasnio riječima da su žene sklone karcinomu grlića maternice.

Indonezijska policija je provjeru djevičanstva ukinula 2015., a HRW poziva ratno zrakoplovstvo i mornaricu da slijede taj primjer.

HRW podsjeća da "test djevičanstva" uključuje invazivni "pregled s dva prsta" kako bi se utvrdilo da li je himen kandidatkinje netaknut.

Indonezijska vojska broji oko 500.000 pripadnika. Time je ujedno i najveća svjetska institucija koja i dalje prakticira provjeru djevičanstva.

Sve su glasniji zahtjevi u Indoneziji da vojska obustavi praksu provjere djevičanstva za žene koje se žele pridružiti oružanim snagama, posebice nakon što je glavni zapovjednik vojske prošli mjesec kazao da bi se "testovi djevičanstva" trebali ukinuti.

Načelnik glavnog stožera kopnenih snaga, general Andika Perkasa, 18. srpnja je kazao da bi testovi za žene koje se žele pridružiti oružanim snagama trebali biti isti kao za njihove muške kolege.

Njegovu izjavu odmah je pozdravio Human Rights Watch (HRW) koji tu praksu smatra ponižavajućom, nasilničkom, diskriminacijskom i neznanstvenom.

Andika je kazao da zdravstvene preglede koji nisu relevantni za postupak regrutacije treba ukinuti.

No, glasnogovornik oružanih snaga Djawara Whimbo je kazao da je pregled ženskih reproduktivnih organa, koji uključuje i pregled himena, i dalje obvezan za novakinje.

Taj se zahtjev odnosi i na zaručnice vojnog osoblja, dodao je glasnogovornik.

Potrebu za takvim pregledom je objasnio riječima da su žene sklone karcinomu grlića maternice.

Indonezijska policija je provjeru djevičanstva ukinula 2015., a HRW poziva ratno zrakoplovstvo i mornaricu da slijede taj primjer.

HRW podsjeća da "test djevičanstva" uključuje invazivni "pregled s dva prsta" kako bi se utvrdilo da li je himen kandidatkinje netaknut.

Indonezijska vojska broji oko 500.000 pripadnika. Time je ujedno i najveća svjetska institucija koja i dalje prakticira provjeru djevičanstva.
