Prva istraživanja pokazuju da je učinkovitost cjepiva koje proizvodi Moderna na visokih 94,5 posto, objavio je The New York Times.

Moderna je druga tvrtka koja je izvijestila o preliminarnim rezultatima velikog pokusnog ispitivanja cjepiva. Ali, proći će još mjeseci prije nego cjepivo postane dostupno širokoj javnosti.

Istraživači kažu da su rezultati bolji nego što su se usudili zamisliti. Ali cjepivo će biti dostupno tek na proljeće.

Inače, Pfizer je u suradnji s BioNTechom prvi izvijestio, prije tjedan dana, da je njihovo cjepivo učinkovito više od 90 posto.

Stéphane Bancel, izvršni predsjednik Moderne, izjavio je da su rezultati dali "prvu kliničku potvrdu da cjepivo može spriječiti bolest Covid-19, uključujući tešku bolest".

"Očekuje se da će naš kandidat za cjepivo mRNA-1273 ostati stabilan pri standardnim temperaturama hladnjaka od 2° do 8° C tijekom 30 dana, u odnosu na prethodnu procjenu od 7 dana. Uvjeti otpreme i dugotrajnog skladištenja na standardnim temperaturama zamrzivača od -20° C tijekom 6 mjeseci

Prva istraživanja pokazuju da je učinkovitost cjepiva koje proizvodi Moderna na visokih 94,5 posto, objavio je The New York Times.

Moderna je druga tvrtka koja je izvijestila o preliminarnim rezultatima velikog pokusnog ispitivanja cjepiva. Ali, proći će još mjeseci prije nego cjepivo postane dostupno širokoj javnosti.

Istraživači kažu da su rezultati bolji nego što su se usudili zamisliti. Ali cjepivo će biti dostupno tek na proljeće.

Inače, Pfizer je u suradnji s BioNTechom prvi izvijestio, prije tjedan dana, da je njihovo cjepivo učinkovito više od 90 posto.

Istraživači testiraju cjepiva cijepljenjem nekih sudionika studije i davanjem placeba drugima placeba, a zatim promatraju dvije skupine kako bi vidjeli koliko ljudi obolijeva.

U studiji Moderne, 95 je ljudi oboljelo od koronavirusa: pet je cijepljeno, a 90 je dobilo placebo injekcije slane vode. Statistički je razlika između dviju skupina bila vrlo značajna. A od 95 slučajeva, 11 je bilo ozbiljnih - svi u placebo grupi.

Rezultati su analizirani od strane neovisnog odbora za nadzor sigurnosti podataka, kojeg je imenovao Nacionalni institut za zdravstvo.

Moderna, inače sa sjedištem u Cambridgeu u državi Massachusetts, razvila je svoje cjepivo u suradnji s istraživačima iz Centra za istraživanje cjepiva, dijela Nacionalnog instituta za alergije i zarazne bolesti.

Ravnatelj instituta, dr. Anthony S. Fauci, kaže: "Govorio sam da ću biti zadovoljan cjepivom na 75-postotnom učinkovitošću. Naravno da bih volio da je to na 90, 95 posto, ali to nisam niti očekivao. Ovih 94,5 posto je vrlo impresivno!". 

Stéphane Bancel, izvršni predsjednik Moderne, izjavio je da su rezultati dali "prvu kliničku potvrdu da cjepivo može spriječiti bolest Covid-19, uključujući tešku bolest".

"Očekuje se da će naš kandidat za cjepivo mRNA-1273 ostati stabilan pri standardnim temperaturama hladnjaka od 2° do 8° C tijekom 30 dana, u odnosu na prethodnu procjenu od 7 dana. Uvjeti otpreme i dugotrajnog skladištenja na standardnim temperaturama zamrzivača od -20° C tijekom 6 mjeseci

mRNA-1273 bit će distribuiran pomoću široko dostupne infrastrukture za dostavu i skladištenje cjepiva. Nije potrebno razrjeđivanje prije cijepljenja", istaknuli su iz Moderne karakteristike svog cjepiva.
