Zbog tjedana žarke suše širom Europe vodostaj rijeka i jezera spustio se na razine koje malo tko pamti, izlažući davno potopljeno blago - i neke neželjene opasnosti.

U Španjolskoj, koja trpi najgoru sušu u više desetljeća, arheolozi su bili oduševljeni pojavom prapovijesnog kamenog kruga nazvanog "španjolski Stonehenge" koji je obično prekriven vodom brane.

Službeno poznat kao Dolmen Guadalperala, kameni krug sada je potpuno otkriven u jednom kutu umjetnog jezera Valdecanas, u središnjoj pokrajini Caceresu, gdje vlasti kažu da je razina vode pala na 28 posto kapaciteta.

Otkrio ga je njemački arheolog Hugo Obermaier 1926. godine, ali je to područje bilo potopljeno 1963. godine u projektu ruralnog razvoja pod diktaturom Francisca Franca. Od tada bio je potpuno vidljiv samo četiri puta.

Sjećanja na prošle suše u Njemačkoj je probudila ponovna pojava takozvanog "kamenja gladi" duž rijeke Rajne. Mnogo takvog kamenja postalo je vidljivo duž obala najveće njemačke rijeke posljednjih tjedana.

Ponovno pojavljivanje kamenja na kojima su označeni datumi i inicijali neki vide kao upozorenje i podsjetnik na teškoće s kojima su se ljudi suočavali za vrijeme prijašnjih suša.

Datumi na kamenju viđenom u Wormsu, južno od Frankfurta, i Rheindorfu, blizu Leverkusena, uključuju 1947., 1959., 2003. i 2018. godinu.

Još jedna od moćnih europskih rijeka, Dunav, pala je na jednu od najnižih razina u gotovo sto godina kao posljedica suše, otkrivajući trupove više od 20 njemačkih ratnih brodova potopljenih u Drugom svjetskom ratu u blizini srpskog riječnog lučkog grada Prahova.

Brodovi su bili među stotinama koje je crnomorska flota nacističke Njemačke 1944. potopila duž Dunava dok su se povlačili pred sovjetskim snagama, a još uvijek ometaju riječni promet kad je niski vodostaj.

Italija je proglasila izvanredno stanje za područja oko rijeke Po, a krajem srpnja u plitkim vodama najduže rijeke u zemlji otkrivena je potopljena bomba iz Drugoga svjetskog rata teška 450 kilograma.

Oko 3000 ljudi koji žive u blizini sela Borgo Virgilio, u blizini grada Mantove, evakuirano je dok su vojni stručnjaci ranije ovog mjeseca deaktivirali i izveli kontroliranu eksploziju naprave proizvedene u SAD-u.

Zbog tjedana žarke suše širom Europe vodostaj rijeka i jezera spustio se na razine koje malo tko pamti, izlažući davno potopljeno blago - i neke neželjene opasnosti.

U Španjolskoj, koja trpi najgoru sušu u više desetljeća, arheolozi su bili oduševljeni pojavom prapovijesnog kamenog kruga nazvanog "španjolski Stonehenge" koji je obično prekriven vodom brane.

Službeno poznat kao Dolmen Guadalperala, kameni krug sada je potpuno otkriven u jednom kutu umjetnog jezera Valdecanas, u središnjoj pokrajini Caceresu, gdje vlasti kažu da je razina vode pala na 28 posto kapaciteta.

Otkrio ga je njemački arheolog Hugo Obermaier 1926. godine, ali je to područje bilo potopljeno 1963. godine u projektu ruralnog razvoja pod diktaturom Francisca Franca. Od tada bio je potpuno vidljiv samo četiri puta.

Sjećanja na prošle suše u Njemačkoj je probudila ponovna pojava takozvanog "kamenja gladi" duž rijeke Rajne. Mnogo takvog kamenja postalo je vidljivo duž obala najveće njemačke rijeke posljednjih tjedana.

Ponovno pojavljivanje kamenja na kojima su označeni datumi i inicijali neki vide kao upozorenje i podsjetnik na teškoće s kojima su se ljudi suočavali za vrijeme prijašnjih suša.

Datumi na kamenju viđenom u Wormsu, južno od Frankfurta, i Rheindorfu, blizu Leverkusena, uključuju 1947., 1959., 2003. i 2018. godinu.

Još jedna od moćnih europskih rijeka, Dunav, pala je na jednu od najnižih razina u gotovo sto godina kao posljedica suše, otkrivajući trupove više od 20 njemačkih ratnih brodova potopljenih u Drugom svjetskom ratu u blizini srpskog riječnog lučkog grada Prahova.

Brodovi su bili među stotinama koje je crnomorska flota nacističke Njemačke 1944. potopila duž Dunava dok su se povlačili pred sovjetskim snagama, a još uvijek ometaju riječni promet kad je niski vodostaj.

Italija je proglasila izvanredno stanje za područja oko rijeke Po, a krajem srpnja u plitkim vodama najduže rijeke u zemlji otkrivena je potopljena bomba iz Drugoga svjetskog rata teška 450 kilograma.

Oko 3000 ljudi koji žive u blizini sela Borgo Virgilio, u blizini grada Mantove, evakuirano je dok su vojni stručnjaci ranije ovog mjeseca deaktivirali i izveli kontroliranu eksploziju naprave proizvedene u SAD-u.

Zbog tjedana žarke suše širom Europe vodostaj rijeka i jezera spustio se na razine koje malo tko pamti, izlažući davno potopljeno blago - i neke neželjene opasnosti.

U Španjolskoj, koja trpi najgoru sušu u više desetljeća, arheolozi su bili oduševljeni pojavom prapovijesnog kamenog kruga nazvanog "španjolski Stonehenge" koji je obično prekriven vodom brane.

Službeno poznat kao Dolmen Guadalperala, kameni krug sada je potpuno otkriven u jednom kutu umjetnog jezera Valdecanas, u središnjoj pokrajini Caceresu, gdje vlasti kažu da je razina vode pala na 28 posto kapaciteta.

Otkrio ga je njemački arheolog Hugo Obermaier 1926. godine, ali je to područje bilo potopljeno 1963. godine u projektu ruralnog razvoja pod diktaturom Francisca Franca. Od tada bio je potpuno vidljiv samo...
