Američka agencija za hranu i lijekove (FDA) dala je u petak odobrenje po hitnom postupku za korištenje lijeka remdesivira za tretman covida-19.

Stephen Hahn, čelnik FDA, rekao je da je lijek odobren "brzinom svjetlosti" u odnosu na uobičajeno trajanje.

Hahn je govorio u Bijeloj kući, zajedno s predsjednikom Donaldom Trumpom i Danielom O'Dayom, direktorom tvrtke Gilead koja proizvodi remdesivir.

O'Day je istaknuo da je remdesivir "prva odobrena terapija za covid-19".

Dodao je i da će njegova kompanija donirati oko 1,5 milijuna doza lijeka.

Potpredsjednik SAD-a Mike Pence kazao je da će distribucija lijeka bolnicama početi u ponedjeljak.

Veliko američko kliničko ispitivanje pokazalo je da su se oboljeli od covida-19 koji su uzimali lijek remdesivir oporavili 30 posto brže od onih na placebu.

Istraživanje je počelo 21. veljače i obuhvatilo je 1063 osobe na 68 lokacija u SAD-u, Europi i Aziji.

Remdesivir je lijek koji je ranije testiran za liječenje ebole, no nije se pokazao učinkovitim.

Iako su rezultate američkog istraživanja pozdravili brojni znanstvenici, ipak su upozorili da su njegove koristi relativno umjerene.

Dosadašnja istraživanja toga lijeka koji se daje intravenski, među kojima i ono provedeno u Wuhanu, pokazala su kontradiktorne rezultate.

Američka agencija za hranu i lijekove (FDA) dala je u petak odobrenje po hitnom postupku za korištenje lijeka remdesivira za tretman covida-19.

Stephen Hahn, čelnik FDA, rekao je da je lijek odobren "brzinom svjetlosti" u odnosu na uobičajeno trajanje.

Hahn je govorio u Bijeloj kući, zajedno s predsjednikom Donaldom Trumpom i Danielom O'Dayom, direktorom tvrtke Gilead koja proizvodi remdesivir.

O'Day je istaknuo da je remdesivir "prva odobrena terapija za covid-19".

Dodao je i da će njegova kompanija donirati oko 1,5 milijuna doza lijeka.

Potpredsjednik SAD-a Mike Pence kazao je da će distribucija lijeka bolnicama početi u ponedjeljak.

Veliko američko kliničko ispitivanje pokazalo je da su se oboljeli od covida-19 koji su uzimali lijek remdesivir oporavili 30 posto brže od onih na placebu.

Istraživanje je počelo 21. veljače i obuhvatilo je 1063 osobe na 68 lokacija u SAD-u, Europi i Aziji.

Remdesivir je lijek koji je ranije testiran za liječenje ebole, no nije se pokazao učinkovitim.

Iako su rezultate američkog istraživanja pozdravili brojni znanstvenici, ipak su upozorili da su njegove koristi relativno umjerene.

Dosadašnja istraživanja toga lijeka koji se daje intravenski, među kojima i ono provedeno u Wuhanu, pokazala su kontradiktorne rezultate.
