Ženski teniski turnir Shenzhen Open postao je prva žrtva odluke Ženskog teniskog saveza (WTA) da obustavi turnire u Kini zbog tretmana kineske tenisačice Peng Shuai.

WTA je objavio kalendar turnira za prvi dio godine na kojem nema Shenzhen Opena, WTA 250 turnira, koji se obično igra u prvom tjednu u godini.

Nova teniska godina već tradicionalno počet će u Australiji. Prvi tjedan će se održati Adelaide International i dva 250 turnira u Melbourneu. U drugom tjednu turneja vodi na Sydney Tennis Classic, dok će se paralelno održati drugi Adelaide International, prije nego što Australian Open započne 17. siječnja.

Prva polovica sezone sadržavat će WTA 1000 turnire u Dohi, Indian Wellsu, Miamiju, Rimu, zajedno s osam WTA 500 događaja i najmanje 15 WTA 250 događaja.

- Kalendar WTA turnira za 2022. ponovno će pružiti prestižnu pozornicu za natjecanje najboljih svjetskih tenisačica - rekao je Steve Simon, predsjednik i izvršni direktor WTA-e.

- Uzbuđeni smo što započinjemo novu sezonu i nadograđujemo popularnost i naslijeđe naših turnira, te gledamo kako naše zvijezde i novi talenti pokazuju svoje vještine pred više od 850 milijuna obožavatelja diljem svijeta - dodao je.

WTA je početkom prosinca objavio suspenziju svih WTA turnira u Kini zbog zabrinutosti oko sigurnosti bivše vodeće tenisačice svijeta u parovima Peng Shuai. Naglasimo kako je tijekom 2019. godine, posljednje na koju Covid-19 nije utjecao, u Kini organizirano 10 turnira, uključujući ženski Masters.

Gdje se nalazi Peng Shuai, jedna od najvećih kineskih sportskih zvijezda, postalo je pitanje međunarodne javnosti nakon što je gotovo prije mjesec dana nestala nakon što je optužila utjecajnog člana Komunističke partije Kine da ju je prisiljavao na spolni odnos.

Kineski online cenzori brzo su izbrisali objavu s platforme Weibo, uklonili sve inkriminirajuće dokaze o optužbama protiv utjecajnog člana kineske vlade. Ni Zhang ni kineska vlada nisu komentirali njezine navode.

Shuai se nakon dva tjedna pojavila u Pekingu i održala je videopoziv s predsjednikom Međunarodnog olimpijskog odbora (MOO) Thomasom Bachom, međutim WTA je poručio kako to nije riješilo niti ublažilo zabrinutost za njezinu situaciju.

Ženski teniski turnir Shenzhen Open postao je prva žrtva odluke Ženskog teniskog saveza (WTA) da obustavi turnire u Kini zbog tretmana kineske tenisačice Peng Shuai.

WTA je objavio kalendar turnira za prvi dio godine na kojem nema Shenzhen Opena, WTA 250 turnira, koji se obično igra u prvom tjednu u godini.

Nova teniska godina već tradicionalno počet će u Australiji. Prvi tjedan će se održati Adelaide International i dva 250 turnira u Melbourneu. U drugom tjednu turneja vodi na Sydney Tennis Classic, dok će se paralelno održati drugi Adelaide International, prije nego što Australian Open započne 17. siječnja.

Prva polovica sezone sadržavat će WTA 1000 turnire u Dohi, Indian Wellsu, Miamiju, Rimu, zajedno s osam WTA 500 događaja i najmanje 15 WTA 250 događaja.

- Kalendar WTA turnira za 2022. ponovno će pružiti prestižnu pozornicu za natjecanje najboljih svjetskih tenisačica - rekao je Steve Simon, predsjednik i izvršni direktor WTA-e.

- Uzbuđeni smo što započinjemo novu sezonu i nadograđujemo popularnost i naslijeđe naših turnira, te gledamo kako naše zvijezde i novi talenti pokazuju svoje vještine pred više od 850 milijuna obožavatelja diljem svijeta - dodao je.

WTA je početkom prosinca objavio suspenziju svih WTA turnira u Kini zbog zabrinutosti oko sigurnosti bivše vodeće tenisačice svijeta u parovima Peng Shuai. Naglasimo kako je tijekom 2019. godine, posljednje na koju Covid-19 nije utjecao, u Kini organizirano 10 turnira, uključujući ženski Masters.

Gdje se nalazi Peng Shuai, jedna od najvećih kineskih sportskih zvijezda, postalo je pitanje međunarodne javnosti nakon što je gotovo prije mjesec dana nestala nakon što je optužila utjecajnog člana Komunističke partije Kine da ju je prisiljavao na spolni odnos.

Kineski online cenzori brzo su izbrisali objavu s platforme Weibo, uklonili sve inkriminirajuće dokaze o optužbama protiv utjecajnog člana kineske vlade. Ni Zhang ni kineska vlada nisu komentirali njezine navode.

Shuai se nakon dva tjedna pojavila u Pekingu i održala je videopoziv s predsjednikom Međunarodnog olimpijskog odbora (MOO) Thomasom Bachom, međutim WTA je poručio kako to nije riješilo niti ublažilo zabrinutost za njezinu situaciju.

Shenzhen Open izbačen iz WTA kalendara: postao je prva žrtva odluke da se obustave svi turniri u Kini zbog tretmana Peng Shuai

Ženski teniski turnir Shenzhen Open postao je prva žrtva odluke Ženskog teniskog saveza (WTA) da obustavi turnire u Kini zbog tretmana kineske tenisačice Peng Shuai.

WTA je objavio kalendar turnira za prvi dio godine na kojem nema Shenzhen Opena, WTA 250 turnira, koji se obično igra u prvom tjednu u godini.

Nova teniska godina već tradicionalno počet će u Australiji. Prvi tjedan će se održati Adelaide International i dva 250 turnira u Melbourneu. U drugom tjednu turneja vodi na Sydney Tennis Classic, dok će se paralelno održati drugi Adelaide International, prije nego što Australian Open započne 17. siječnja.

Prva polovica sezone sadržavat će WTA 1000 turnire u Dohi, Indian Wellsu, Miamiju, Rimu, zajedno s osam WTA 500 događaja i najmanje 15 WTA 250 događaja.
