U Australiji se po tko zna koji put pokazalo kako je Hrvatska istinska teniska velesila. Ivan Dodig osvojio je mješovite parove sa svojom partnericom Kristinom Mladenović, a u subotu je juniorsku titulu osvojila fantastična Zagrepčana Petra Marčinko.

Petra je u velikom finalu bila bolja od svoje vršnjakinje, 16-godišnje Belgijke Sofije Costoulas sa 7:5, 6:1.

- ​Bio je ovo težak meč, iskustvo igranja u Rod Laver Areni je bilo sjajno. Na početku meča bilo je i nervoze, igrala sam na velikom stadionu i prvi put sam bila u finalu Grand Slam turnira. U najvažnijim trenucima sam zadržala mirnoću. Cijelo vrijeme igrala sam svoju igru, nije bilo velikih padova - kazala je Petra.

U dvoboju je Marčinko osvojila gotovo 20 poena više od suparnice (68-49), a imala je i dvostruko više izravnih poena (22-11). Iskoristila je 5 od 7 break lopti, dok je mlada belgijska tenisačica imala tri takve šanse i napravila je jedan break.

Marčinko je postala već četvrta hrvatska tenisačica koja je osvojila juniorski dio turnira Australian Opena. Naime, prije nje su to uspjele Mirjana Lučić 1997., Jelena Kostanić 1998. i Ana Konjuh 2013. godine.

- Sada imam ovaj trofej, pobjednica sam Grand Slam turnira, za mene je to jako velika stvar. Dogodine jedva čekam povratak u Melbourne, s pogledom na svoju sliku među brojnim velikim pobjednicima turnira - dodala je Marčinko.

Petra je u Australiju došla kao prva juniorka svijeta, a što je posebno bitno ne u svojoj “izlaznoj” godini. Ako želi, naime, Petra i u idućoj sezoni ima pravo igrati juniorski tenis, makar s obzirom na njezina ostvarenja i kvalitetu dojma smo kako bi to bio čisti gubitak energije i vremena. Već sada je pokazala da dominira u svijetu juniorki i vrijeme je da zablista na velikoj sceni na WTA Touru.

U seniorski život već je zakoračila, trenutno je 925. na svijetu nakon samo šest odigranih turnira. Pred njom i njezinim sadašnjim trenerom Kristianom Schneiderom uzbudljiv je put.

A dvije i pol godine je s njom kao trener proveo trener Igor Blažević.

- Da, iz Đakova sam došao u Zagreb kako bih radio s njom - kazao nam je Blažević.

Ima nešto u tom prezimenu, u svijetu nogometa to je trener svih trenera, legendarni Ćiro, a evo ni ovom teniskom ne ide loše, stvarao je juniorsku Grand Slam pobjednicu.

- Kad sam radi s njom odmah sam vidio nevjerojatnu energiju, posvećenost, trud... Stvarno se trudila, što je bila, “bebač” s 12 godina. A ja bih s njom, osim tenisa, radio i kondiciju tri put tjedno u 7.30 ujutro. Doslovno niti jednom nije došla pognute glave, nikad nije “ustala na krivu nogu”, sve je njoj to bilo laganica. Ogroman je radnik, vrhunski, to je po meni njezin najveći talent. I to što je istinski natjecatelj. Gori za pobjede - kazao nam je Blažević.

Što to znači da je “natjecatelj”?

- Gledao sam hrpu mečeva u kojima je igrala loše, a pobijedila. Ali ona je u svojoj glavi došla pobijediti i najčešće nađe način. Pamtim polufinale europskog Mastersa do 14 godina u Italiji kada je pobijedila Slovakinju, i dan danas ne znam kako je pobijedila, ali jest.

Za one koji je nisu gledali, kakav tenis igra?

- Igra u jakome tempu, agresivno, ne boji se, poteže forhend. Vidio sam njezinih super mečeva. Ako se to posloži, bit će ekstra i na WTA razini. Već je sad u tisuću... Ona je sve to brzo savladala, kada je na europskim turnirima do 14 godina prvi put ušla u finale, krenula je i nije se zaustavljala... Prva dva juniorska ITF  turnira koja je igrala odmah je i osvojila, to je čudesno - zaključio je Blažević.

Petra je istaknula da jedva čeka ono što joj predstoji. Moramo priznati da smo i mi uzbuđeni.

U Australiji se po tko zna koji put pokazalo kako je Hrvatska istinska teniska velesila. Ivan Dodig osvojio je mješovite parove sa svojom partnericom Kristinom Mladenović, a u subotu je juniorsku titulu osvojila fantastična Zagrepčana Petra Marčinko.

Petra je u velikom finalu bila bolja od svoje vršnjakinje, 16-godišnje Belgijke Sofije Costoulas sa 7:5, 6:1.

- ​Bio je ovo težak meč, iskustvo igranja u Rod Laver Areni je bilo sjajno. Na početku meča bilo je i nervoze, igrala sam na velikom stadionu i prvi put sam bila u finalu Grand Slam turnira. U najvažnijim trenucima sam zadržala mirnoću. Cijelo vrijeme igrala sam svoju igru, nije bilo velikih padova - kazala je Petra.

U dvoboju je Marčinko osvojila gotovo 20 poena više od suparnice (68-49), a imala je i dvostruko više izravnih poena (22-11). Iskoristila je 5 od 7 break lopti, dok je mlada belgijska tenisačica imala tri takve šanse i napravila je jedan break.

Marčinko je postala već četvrta hrvatska tenisačica koja je osvojila juniorski dio turnira Australian Opena. Naime, prije nje su to uspjele Mirjana Lučić 1997., Jelena Kostanić 1998. i Ana Konjuh 2013. godine.

- Sada imam ovaj trofej, pobjednica sam Grand Slam turnira, za mene je to jako velika stvar. Dogodine jedva čekam povratak u Melbourne, s pogledom na svoju sliku među brojnim velikim pobjednicima turnira - dodala je Marčinko.

Petra je u Australiju došla kao prva juniorka svijeta, a što je posebno bitno ne u svojoj “izlaznoj” godini. Ako želi, naime, Petra i u idućoj sezoni ima pravo igrati juniorski tenis, makar s obzirom na njezina ostvarenja i kvalitetu dojma smo kako bi to bio čisti gubitak energije i vremena. Već sada je pokazala da dominira u svijetu juniorki i vrijeme je da zablista na velikoj sceni na WTA Touru.

U seniorski život već je zakoračila, trenutno je 925. na svijetu nakon samo šest odigranih turnira. Pred njom i njezinim sadašnjim trenerom Kristianom Schneiderom uzbudljiv je put.

A dvije i pol godine je s njom kao trener proveo trener Igor Blažević.

- Da, iz Đakova sam došao u Zagreb kako bih radio s njom - kazao nam je Blažević.

Ima nešto u tom prezimenu, u svijetu nogometa to je trener svih trenera, legendarni Ćiro, a evo ni ovom teniskom ne ide loše, stvarao je juniorsku Grand Slam pobjednicu.

- Kad sam radi s njom odmah sam vidio nevjerojatnu energiju, posvećenost, trud... Stvarno se trudila, što je bila, “bebač” s 12 godina. A ja bih s njom, osim tenisa, radio i kondiciju tri put tjedno u 7.30 ujutro. Doslovno niti jednom nije došla pognute glave, nikad nije “ustala na krivu nogu”, sve je njoj to bilo laganica. Ogroman je radnik, vrhunski, to je po meni njezin najveći talent. I to što je istinski natjecatelj. Gori za pobjede - kazao nam je Blažević.

Što to znači da je “natjecatelj”?

- Gledao sam hrpu mečeva u kojima je igrala loše, a pobijedila. Ali ona je u svojoj glavi došla pobijediti i najčešće nađe način. Pamtim polufinale europskog Mastersa do 14 godina u Italiji kada je pobijedila Slovakinju, i dan danas ne znam kako je pobijedila, ali jest.

Za one koji je nisu gledali, kakav tenis igra?

- Igra u jakome tempu, agresivno, ne boji se, poteže forhend. Vidio sam njezinih super mečeva. Ako se to posloži, bit će ekstra i na WTA razini. Već je sad u tisuću... Ona je sve to brzo savladala, kada je na europskim turnirima do 14 godina prvi put ušla u finale, krenula je i nije se zaustavljala... Prva dva juniorska ITF  turnira koja je igrala odmah je i osvojila, to je čudesno - zaključio je Blažević.

Petra je istaknula da jedva čeka ono što joj predstoji. Moramo priznati da smo i mi uzbuđeni.
