Novak Đoković je u ponedjeljak nastavio svoj wimbledonski niz ostvarivši 32. uzastopnu pobjedu na travi u All England Clubu, a do svog 14 četvrtfinala na najvećem teniskog turniru stigao je pobijedivši Poljaka Huberta Hurkacza (ATP - 18.) sa 7-6 (6), 7-6 (6), 5-7, 6-4 u dvoboju koji se protegnuo na dva dana.

Đoković i Hurkacz su svoj meč osmine finala započeli u nedjelju nešto prije 21 sat po lokalnom vremenu, pod krovom i umjetnom rasvjetom na središnjem terenu u All England Clubu, da bi ga završili u ponedjeljak u poslijepodnevnim satima, u sunčanim uvjetima i bez krova nad glavom.

Poljak je dao sve od sebe, doveo sedmerostrukog wimbledonskog pobjednika na teška iskušenja, ali nije uspio postati prvi tenisač od finala 2013. i Andyja Murrayja, koji bio pobijedio 36-godišnjeg Srbina na središnjem terenu u All England Clubu.

"Ne sjećam se kad sam se zadnji puta osjećao tako nemoćno na reternu", izjavio je tenisač s vjerojatno najboljim reternom u povijesti ove igre.

Hurkacz je u četiri seta zabio 33 asa, pogodio je 73% prvih servisa i spasio sedam od osam ‘break-lopti‘ s kojima je bio suočen. Jedini put je izgubio servis u sedmom gemu četvrtog seta, nakon što je spasio 15-40, ali je popustio kad je Đoković došao i do treće prilike u tom gemu.

Poljak je svoju priliku za pobjedu propustio u prva dva seta odigrana u nedjelju navečer, u dvoranskim uvjetima. Tada je u ‘tie-breaku‘ prvog seta vodio 6-3 i izgubio pet poena zaredom. U ‘tie-breaku‘ drugog seta je imao vodstvo od 5-4 i svoja dva servisa, ali je izgubio oba poena na početnom udarcu. Đoković je došao do 2-0 setovima i uz gubitak trećeg seta, prvog u nastavku meča, ipak došao do pobjede.

"Znam da mečevi ne postaju lakši, ali ne znam kako mogu biti teži od ovog", rekao je Đoković u najavi svog četvrtfinalnog obračuna s Rusom Andrejom Rubljovom te pokazao koliko je dobro informiran o svom suparniku kojeg je pobijedio u tri od četiri međusobna dvoboja.

"Godinama je među deset najboljih na svijetu. Znam da čeka na svoje prvo polufinale na Grand Slam turnirima. Nadam se da neće do njega doći ovdje", poručio je Đoković uz širok osmijeh.

Ono što nije uspjelo Hurkacz protiv Đokovića napravio je 27-godišnji Amerikanac Christopher Eubanks (ATP - 43.) protiv petog tenisača svijeta, Grka Stefanosa Tsitsipasa, pobijedivši ga u pet setova s 3-6, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 za plasman u svoje prvo četvrtfinale na Grand Slam turnirima u debiju na wimbledonskoj travi.

Eubanks je u All England Club stigao osvojivši na travi na španjolskoj Mallorci prvi ATP naslov u karijeri, a pobjednički niz započet tamo prenio je u tenisko svetište. Do nastupa u Wimbledonu imao osam nastupa na Grand Slam turnirima na kojima je samo dvaput uspio proći do drugog kola - na prošlogodišnjem US Openu i ove godine u Melbourne Parku.

U srijedu će igrati za polufinale na najvećem teniskom turniru, a protiv sebe će imati Rusa Danjila Medvjedeva koji je pobjedom protiv Čeha Jirija Lehečke prvi put u karijeri došao do četvrtfinala u All England Clubu.

Novak Đoković je u ponedjeljak nastavio svoj wimbledonski niz ostvarivši 32. uzastopnu pobjedu na travi u All England Clubu, a do svog 14 četvrtfinala na najvećem teniskog turniru stigao je pobijedivši Poljaka Huberta Hurkacza (ATP - 18.) sa 7-6 (6), 7-6 (6), 5-7, 6-4 u dvoboju koji se protegnuo na dva dana.

Đoković i Hurkacz su svoj meč osmine finala započeli u nedjelju nešto prije 21 sat po lokalnom vremenu, pod krovom i umjetnom rasvjetom na središnjem terenu u All England Clubu, da bi ga završili u ponedjeljak u poslijepodnevnim satima, u sunčanim uvjetima i bez krova nad glavom.

Poljak je dao sve od sebe, doveo sedmerostrukog wimbledonskog pobjednika na teška iskušenja, ali nije uspio postati prvi tenisač od finala 2013. i Andyja Murrayja, koji bio pobijedio 36-godišnjeg Srbina na središnjem terenu u All England Clubu.

"Ne sjećam se kad sam se zadnji puta osjećao tako nemoćno na reternu", izjavio je tenisač s vjerojatno najboljim reternom u povijesti ove igre.

Hurkacz je u četiri seta zabio 33 asa, pogodio je 73% prvih servisa i spasio sedam od osam ‘break-lopti‘ s kojima je bio suočen. Jedini put je izgubio servis u sedmom gemu četvrtog seta, nakon što je spasio 15-40, ali je popustio kad je Đoković došao i do treće prilike u tom gemu.

Poljak je svoju priliku za pobjedu propustio u prva dva seta odigrana u nedjelju navečer, u dvoranskim uvjetima. Tada je u ‘tie-breaku‘ prvog seta vodio 6-3 i izgubio pet poena zaredom. U ‘tie-breaku‘ drugog seta je imao vodstvo od 5-4 i svoja dva servisa, ali je izgubio oba poena na početnom udarcu. Đoković je došao do 2-0 setovima i uz gubitak trećeg seta, prvog u nastavku meča, ipak došao do pobjede.

"Znam da mečevi ne postaju lakši, ali ne znam kako mogu biti teži od ovog", rekao je Đoković u najavi svog četvrtfinalnog obračuna s Rusom Andrejom Rubljovom te pokazao koliko je dobro informiran o svom suparniku kojeg je pobijedio u tri od četiri međusobna dvoboja.

"Godinama je među deset najboljih na svijetu. Znam da čeka na svoje prvo polufinale na Grand Slam turnirima. Nadam se da neće do njega doći ovdje", poručio je Đoković uz širok osmijeh.

Ono što nije uspjelo Hurkacz protiv Đokovića napravio je 27-godišnji Amerikanac Christopher Eubanks (ATP - 43.) protiv petog tenisača svijeta, Grka Stefanosa Tsitsipasa, pobijedivši ga u pet setova s 3-6, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 za plasman u svoje prvo četvrtfinale na Grand Slam turnirima u debiju na wimbledonskoj travi.

Eubanks je u All England Club stigao osvojivši na travi na španjolskoj Mallorci prvi ATP naslov u karijeri, a pobjednički niz započet tamo prenio je u tenisko svetište. Do nastupa u Wimbledonu imao osam nastupa na Grand Slam turnirima na kojima je samo dvaput uspio proći do drugog kola - na prošlogodišnjem US Openu i ove godine u Melbourne Parku.

U srijedu će igrati za polufinale na najvećem teniskom turniru, a protiv sebe će imati Rusa Danjila Medvjedeva koji je pobjedom protiv Čeha Jirija Lehečke prvi put u karijeri došao do četvrtfinala u All England Clubu.

Novak Đoković je u ponedjeljak nastavio svoj wimbledonski niz ostvarivši 32. uzastopnu pobjedu na travi u All England Clubu, a do svog 14 četvrtfinala na najvećem teniskog turniru stigao je pobijedivši Poljaka Huberta Hurkacza (ATP - 18.) sa 7-6 (6), 7-6 (6), 5-7, 6-4 u dvoboju koji se protegnuo na dva dana.

Đoković i Hurkacz su svoj meč osmine finala započeli u nedjelju nešto prije 21 sat po lokalnom vremenu, pod krovom i umjetnom rasvjetom na središnjem terenu u All England Clubu, da bi ga završili u ponedjeljak u poslijepodnevnim satima, u sunčanim uvjetima i bez krova nad glavom.

Poljak je dao sve od sebe, doveo sedmerostrukog wimbledonskog pobjednika na teška iskušenja, ali nije uspio postati prvi tenisač od finala 2013. i Andyja Murrayja, koji bio pobijedio 36-godišnjeg Srbina na središnjem terenu u All England Clubu.

"Ne sjećam se kad sam se zadnji puta osjećao tako nemoćno na reternu", izjavio je tenisač s vjerojatno najboljim reternom u povijesti ove igre.

Hurkacz je u četiri seta zabio 33 asa, pogodio je 73% prvih servisa i spasio sedam od osam ‘break-lopti‘ s kojima je bio suočen. Jedini put je izgubio servis u sedmom gemu četvrtog seta, nakon što je spasio 15-40, ali je popustio kad je Đoković došao i do treće prilike u tom gemu.
