Slavni njemački tenisač Boris Becker proveo je prve noći iza rešetaka u zloglasnom engleskom zatvoru Wandsworth, koji je sušta suprotnost luksuznom načinu života kojeg je upražnjavao posrnuli 54-godišnji šampion.
Becker je prošlog petka osuđen na dvije i pol godine zatvora zbog prijevare u osobnom bankrotu, ali će bez slobode biti godinu i tri mjeseca. Teretilo ga se da je u stečajnom postupku pokušao sakriti novac i druge dragocjenosti, uključujući i teniske trofeje, te da je prikrio posjed nekretnina, pišu Sportske novosti .
Becker se nalazi u ustanovi koja je u prilično lošem stanju, prenapučena i obično opisivana kao jedan od najgorih zatvora u Velikoj Britaniji, gdje su štakori normalna pojava.

Zatvorenici provode više od 22 sata dnevno u svojim ćelijama, a nasilje je ogroman problem. Skoro svakog dana u protekle dvije godine zabilježen je napad na cimere, a zatvorski čuvari morali su koristiti silu gotovo četiri puta dnevno.
Zanimljivo je da je zloglasni zatvor udaljen tek tri kilometra od središnjeg terena Wimbledona, gdje je Becker osvojio svoj prvi naslov 1985. godine kad mu je bilo samo 17.
Unutar zatvora, prema iskustvima bivših zatvorenika, vlada ogromna buka, uz viku, vriskove, prijetnje, smijeh, rasprave, plakanje...
Becker je prilikom dolaska smješten u vlastitu ćeliju, no tijekom tjedna će biti premješten u drugu koju će dijeliti s cimerom, s betonskim podom i WC-om bez ikakve privatnosti.
Još je dobro onima koji nešto u zatvoru rade, poput radnika u kuhinji ili čistača, dok većina ostalih dan provede dosađujući se u ćeliji.
Vjeruje se da je hrana bolja nego u drugim zatvorima, ali se od ožujka 2020. godine teretana uopće ne koristi, kao ni odjel za edukaciju. Na 86 ćelija dostupno je svega šest tuševa.
Bivši zatvorenici kažu kako je Wandsworth veoma nasilan zatvor, ali ako se ne miješaš u drogu ili dugove ili u rasprave o politici, točnije ako gledaš svoja posla, onda stvari možda i neće biti tako loše.

S obzirom na to da i zatvorenici i čuvari uglavnom vole sport, Beckera bi mnogi mogli doživjeti kao heroja, moguće je da će ga opsjedati zbog autograma...
Podršku su Beckeru ovih dana iskazali kćerka Anna Jermakova, koja je najavila da će ga posjećivati koliko će često to smjeti, te njegova druga supruga Lily Becker, od koje se rastao 2018. godine.

Oglasio se i jedan od najboljih svjetskih tenisača Novak Đoković, kojeg je Becker trenirao tri godine, počevši od prosinca 2013.
- Srce mi je slomljeno zbog njega. On mi je prijatelj, dugo mi je bio i trener, smatram ga bliskim u svom životu, puno je doprinio mojoj karijeri. Neću ulaziti u detalje presude, ali kao prijatelj sam jako žalostan. Nadam se da će izgurati to što mora i da će moći nastaviti živjeti svoj život kad izađe. Ne znam možemo li koristiti riječ 'normalno' jer se život definitivno mijenja za svakoga tko ode u zatvor, osobito na tako dugo vremena. Stoga ne znam kako će stvari ispasti. Molim za njega i nadam se da će biti dobro u smislu zdravlja i mentalnog zdravlja jer će to biti najveći izazov – poručio je Đoković

Slavni njemački tenisač Boris Becker proveo je prve noći iza rešetaka u zloglasnom engleskom zatvoru Wandsworth, koji je sušta suprotnost luksuznom načinu života kojeg je upražnjavao posrnuli 54-godišnji šampion.
Becker je prošlog petka osuđen na dvije i pol godine zatvora zbog prijevare u osobnom bankrotu, ali će bez slobode biti godinu i tri mjeseca. Zatvorenici provode više od 22 sata dnevno u svojim ćelijama, a nasilje je ogroman problem. Skoro svakog dana u protekle dvije godine zabilježen je napad na cimere, a zatvorski čuvari morali su koristiti silu gotovo četiri puta dnevno.
Zanimljivo je da je zloglasni zatvor udaljen tek tri kilometra od središnjeg terena Wimbledona, gdje je Becker osvojio svoj prvi naslov 1985. godine kad mu je bilo samo 17.
Unutar zatvora, prema iskustvima bivših zatvorenika, vlada ogromna buka, uz viku, vriskove, prijetnje, smijeh, rasprave, plakanje...
Becker je prilikom dolaska smješten u vlastitu ćeliju, no tijekom tjedna će biti premješten u drugu koju će dijeliti s cimerom, s betonskim podom i WC-om bez ikakve privatnosti.
Još je dobro onima koji nešto u zatvoru rade, poput radnika u kuhinji ili čistača, dok većina ostalih dan provede dosađujući se u ćeliji.
Vjeruje se da je hrana bolja nego u drugim zatvorima, ali se od ožujka 2020. godine teretana uopće ne koristi, kao ni odjel za edukaciju. Na 86 ćelija dostupno je svega šest tuševa.
Bivši zatvorenici kažu kako je Wandsworth veoma nasilan zatvor, ali ako se ne miješaš u drogu ili dugove ili u rasprave o politici, točnije ako gledaš svoja posla, onda stvari možda i neće biti tako loše.

S obzirom na to da i zatvorenici i čuvari uglavnom vole sport, Beckera bi mnogi mogli doživjeti kao heroja, moguće je da će ga opsjedati zbog autograma...
Podršku su Beckeru ovih dana iskazali kćerka Anna Jermakova, koja je najavila da će ga posjećivati koliko će često to smjeti, te njegova druga supruga Lily Becker, od koje se rastao 2018. godine.
''Gospodin je tvoj pastir. Uvijek ću se moliti za tebe', poručila je.
Oglasio se i jedan od najboljih svjetskih tenisača Novak Đoković, kojeg je Becker trenirao tri godine, počevši od prosinca 2013.
- Srce mi je slomljeno zbog njega. On mi je prijatelj, dugo mi je bio i trener, smatram ga bliskim u svom životu, puno je doprinio mojoj karijeri. Neću ulaziti u detalje presude, ali kao prijatelj sam jako žalostan. Nadam se da će izgurati to što mora i da će moći nastaviti živjeti svoj život kad izađe. Ne znam možemo li koristiti riječ 'normalno' jer se život definitivno mijenja za svakoga tko ode u zatvor, osobito na tako dugo vremena. Stoga ne znam kako će stvari ispasti. Molim za njega i nadam se da će biti dobro u smislu zdravlja i mentalnog zdravlja jer će to biti najveći izazov – poručio je Đoković
