Mateo Žugec i Jakov Vlahek osvojili su zlatno i srebrno odličje na konju s hvataljkama na Mediteranskim igrama u Alžiru, a 20-godišnji Varaždinac će ostati upamćen kao prvi hrvatski gimnastičar koji se okitio naslovom prvaka Mediterana.  

"Izvan sebe sam. Ne mogu vjerovati da mi se ovo trenutno događa. Nakon najnapornijeg dijela sezone ikada i nakon zlata sa Svjetskog kupa u Kopru i srebra u Varni, sada nosim doma u Hrvatsku novo zlato. Evo me sa suzama u očima", emotivan je bio Mateo Žugec nakon finala u kojem je nastupio kao posljednji, osmi.

"Finale je bilo jako konkurentno, svi dečki su ušli u finale s visokim ocjenama i znao sam da ću morati ponoviti nastup iz kvalifikacija da osvojim medalju. Jakov je išao prvi, on je probio led i odmah dobio 14,150. Kad sam saznao da ima medalju u rukama, znao sam da moram dovršiti taj posao, jer Hrvatska zaslužuje dvije medalje na Mediteranskim igrama. I eto, dobio sam 14,250, osigurao zlato. Nakon svega, nakon bolova u zglobovima... Već tjedan dana se bavim zglobovima, hvala fizioterapeutu koji je puno pomogao, bez njega to ne bi bilo moguće. Niti bez podrške koju imam od strane moje obitelji i prijatelja. Hvala svima koji su bili uz mene. Nosim vam zlato", poručio je 20-godišnji član GK "Vindija".

Zagrepčanin Jakov Vlahek ušao je u društvo slavnih prethodnika koji su se mediteranskih igara vraćali sa srebrnom medaljom oko vrata, a to su bili Aleksej Demjanov (1997., karike), Filip Ude (2009., tlo), Robert Seligman (2013. i 2018., konj s hvataljkama) i Mario Možnik (2013., preča).

"Jako sam zadovoljan svojom izvedbom u finalu, dobru vježbu sam napravio. Ne mogu se žaliti. Htio bih čestitati Mateu. Stvarno smo zasluženo bili prvi i drugi. Definitivno dva najkvalitetnija konjaša danas u finalu. Bilo je jako finale, mrtva trka do kraja, blizu su bile sve ocjene. Ja sam zadovoljan, idemo malo proslaviti, onda se vratiti doma, malo se odmoriti i nastaviti s pripremama za drugi dio sezone", izjavio je član ZTD "Hrvatski sokol".

S hrvatskim konjašima na postolju je s broncom oko vrata stajao Turčin Ferhat Arican (14,000), osvajač olimpijske bronca na ručama iz Tokija.

Mateo Žugec i Jakov Vlahek osvojili su zlatno i srebrno odličje na konju s hvataljkama na Mediteranskim igrama u Alžiru, a 20-godišnji Varaždinac će ostati upamćen kao prvi hrvatski gimnastičar koji se okitio naslovom prvaka Mediterana.  

"Izvan sebe sam. Ne mogu vjerovati da mi se ovo trenutno događa. Nakon najnapornijeg dijela sezone ikada i nakon zlata sa Svjetskog kupa u Kopru i srebra u Varni, sada nosim doma u Hrvatsku novo zlato. Evo me sa suzama u očima", emotivan je bio Mateo Žugec nakon finala u kojem je nastupio kao posljednji, osmi.

"Finale je bilo jako konkurentno, svi dečki su ušli u finale s visokim ocjenama i znao sam da ću morati ponoviti nastup iz kvalifikacija da osvojim medalju. Jakov je išao prvi, on je probio led i odmah dobio 14,150. Kad sam saznao da ima medalju u rukama, znao sam da moram dovršiti taj posao, jer Hrvatska zaslužuje dvije medalje na Mediteranskim igrama. I eto, dobio sam 14,250, osigurao zlato. Nakon svega, nakon bolova u zglobovima... Već tjedan dana se bavim zglobovima, hvala fizioterapeutu koji je puno pomogao, bez njega to ne bi bilo moguće. Zagrepčanin Jakov Vlahek ušao je u društvo slavnih prethodnika koji su se mediteranskih igara vraćali sa srebrnom medaljom oko vrata, a to su bili Aleksej Demjanov (1997., karike), Filip Ude (2009., tlo), Robert Seligman (2013. i 2018., konj s hvataljkama) i Mario Možnik (2013., preča).

"Jako sam zadovoljan svojom izvedbom u finalu, dobru vježbu sam napravio. Ne mogu se žaliti. Htio bih čestitati Mateu. Stvarno smo zasluženo bili prvi i drugi. Definitivno dva najkvalitetnija konjaša danas u finalu. Bilo je jako finale, mrtva trka do kraja, blizu su bile sve ocjene. Ja sam zadovoljan, idemo malo proslaviti, onda se vratiti doma, malo se odmoriti i nastaviti s pripremama za drugi dio sezone", izjavio je član ZTD "Hrvatski sokol".

S hrvatskim konjašima na postolju je s broncom oko vrata stajao Turčin Ferhat Arican (14,000), osvajač olimpijske bronca na ručama iz Tokija.

Mateo Žugec i Jakov Vlahek osvojili su zlatno i srebrno odličje na konju s hvataljkama na Mediteranskim igrama u Alžiru, a 20-godišnji Varaždinac će ostati upamćen kao prvi hrvatski gimnastičar koji se okitio naslovom prvaka Mediterana.  

"Izvan sebe sam. Ne mogu vjerovati da mi se ovo trenutno događa. Nakon najnapornijeg dijela sezone ikada i nakon zlata sa Svjetskog kupa u Kopru i srebra u Varni, sada nosim doma u Hrvatsku novo zlato. Evo me sa suzama u očima", emotivan je bio Mateo Žugec nakon finala u kojem je nastupio kao posljednji, osmi.

"Finale je bilo jako konkurentno, svi dečki su ušli u finale s visokim ocjenama i znao sam da ću morati ponoviti nastup iz kvalifikacija da osvojim medalju. Jakov je išao prvi, on je probio led i odmah dobio 14,150. Kad sam saznao...
