Nakon dugo vremena otvorena su vrata najstarije splitske knjižare! Splićane je danas iznenadio prizor otvorenog "Morpurga"  na Pjaci. U njemu, doduše, nema knjiga ni knjižara, ali smo vidjeli meštre kako rade. Dakle, sad je tamo bauštel, a mi se nadamo da će uskoro na tom mjestu biti police s knjigama.

A budući da se ova knjižara nalazi na popisu zaštićenih kulturnih dobara RH, tamo ne bi smjelo biti ništa drugo nego knjižara. Podsjetimo, knjižara Morpurgo nije mijenjala svoju lokaciju od 1860. godine,  kada je otvorena na Narodnom trgu.

ako je preživjela dva svjetska rata, pa i onaj Domovinski, te na ponos svih Splićana još uvijek nosi titulu jedne od tri najstarije europske knjižare koja djeluje u kontinuitetu, uz onu u Lisabonu i Parizu, upitno je kada će knjižara "Morpurgo" ponovno otvoriti svoja vrata, te hoće li joj presuditi utrka za profitom.

S radom je, 157 godina nakon osnivanja, prestala prije tri godine. Knjižarski lanac "Algoritam" otišao je u stečaj, tadašnja vlasnica prostora Marina Wallner prodala ga je Željku Katiću, poznatom vulkanizeru sa Sućidra, a on je, kao novi vlasnik, odlučio staviti ključ u bravu.

Jedno vrijeme šuškalo se kako će u prostoru možda osvanuti neki novi ugostiteljski obrt, budući da novi vlasnik nije sklopio ugovor o najmu ni s jednom zainteresiranom knjižarom ni izdavačkom kućom, no gradonačelnik Andro Krstulović Opara javnosti je, te 2017., obećao kako će u prostoru "Morpurga" definitivno biti knjižara.

Ne zato, napomenuo je, što on to želi, nego zato što to nalaže zakon. Naime, namjena prostora zaštićena je zakonom, te je prostor zaštićen i upisan u Registar kulturnih dobara Hrvatske.

Iz Banovine smo lani dobili potvrdu kako je pokrenuta procedura za imenovanje povjerenstva za provedbu pregovora o zamjeni poslovnih prostora između Grada i vlasnika Katića, čime je zapravo sve trebalo biti dogovoreno.

Što se u međuvremenu dogodilo i je li došlo do kakvih promjena, to su pitanja na koja još čekamo odgovore.

Duga, teška povijest


Osnivač i prvi vlasnik ove kultne knjižare na Pjaci bio je splitski Židov Vid Morpurgo (1838.-1911.), jedan od najvažnijih ljudi u povijesti Splita.

Za vrijeme Prvog svjetskog rada, navodno je sjajno poslovala, a stradala je tijekom Drugog svjetskog rata, u lipnju 1942. godine, kada je devastirana splitska Židovska zajednica.

– Knjižara je 1943. godine zatvorena i njezina imovina konfiscirana. Ratni uvjeti te nova, okupacijska vlast ograničavali su dotadašnje poslovanje te je knjižara djelovala pod pritiskom cenzure u strogo određenim i kontroliranim uvjetima. Aldo Morpurgo je 1941. godine uhapšen i politički interniran u južnu Italiju, iz koje je, nakon oslobođenja 1943. godine, uspio emigrirati u Palestinu. Njegov otac, Eugen Morpurgo, vodio je knjižaru do 1943. godine, kada su ga uhapsili njemački okupatori i odveli u koncentracijski logor Banjica pokraj Beograda, gdje je ubijen.

To je samo djelić duge i teške povijesti ove knjižare.

Nakon dugo vremena otvorena su vrata najstarije splitske knjižare! Splićane je danas iznenadio prizor otvorenog "Morpurga"  na Pjaci. U njemu, doduše, nema knjiga ni knjižara, ali smo vidjeli meštre kako rade. Dakle, sad je tamo bauštel, a mi se nadamo da će uskoro na tom mjestu biti police s knjigama.

A budući da se ova knjižara nalazi na popisu zaštićenih kulturnih dobara RH, tamo ne bi smjelo biti ništa drugo nego knjižara. Podsjetimo, knjižara Morpurgo nije mijenjala svoju lokaciju od 1860. godine,  kada je otvorena na Narodnom trgu.

ako je preživjela dva svjetska rata, pa i onaj Domovinski, te na ponos svih Splićana još uvijek nosi titulu jedne od tri najstarije europske knjižare koja djeluje u kontinuitetu, uz onu u Lisabonu i Parizu, upitno je kada će knjižara "Morpurgo" ponovno otvoriti svoja vrata, te hoće li joj presuditi utrka za profitom.

S radom je, 157 godina nakon osnivanja, prestala prije tri godine. Knjižarski lanac "Algoritam" otišao je u stečaj, tadašnja vlasnica prostora Marina Wallner prodala ga je Željku Katiću, poznatom vulkanizeru sa Sućidra, a on je, kao novi vlasnik, odlučio staviti ključ u bravu.

Jedno vrijeme šuškalo se kako će u prostoru možda osvanuti neki novi ugostiteljski obrt, budući da novi vlasnik nije sklopio ugovor o najmu ni s jednom zainteresiranom knjižarom ni izdavačkom kućom, no gradonačelnik Andro Krstulović Opara javnosti je, te 2017., obećao kako će u prostoru "Morpurga" definitivno biti knjižara.

Ne zato, napomenuo je, što on to želi, nego zato što to nalaže zakon. Naime, namjena prostora zaštićena je zakonom, te je prostor zaštićen i upisan u Registar kulturnih dobara Hrvatske.

Iz Banovine smo lani dobili potvrdu kako je pokrenuta procedura za imenovanje povjerenstva za provedbu pregovora o zamjeni poslovnih prostora između Grada i vlasnika Katića, čime je zapravo sve trebalo biti dogovoreno.

Što se u međuvremenu dogodilo i je li došlo do kakvih promjena, to su pitanja na koja još čekamo odgovore.

Duga, teška povijest


Osnivač i prvi vlasnik ove kultne knjižare na Pjaci bio je splitski Židov Vid Morpurgo (1838.-1911.), jedan od najvažnijih ljudi u povijesti Splita.

Za vrijeme Prvog svjetskog rada, navodno je sjajno poslovala, a stradala je tijekom Drugog svjetskog rata, u lipnju 1942. godine, kada je devastirana splitska Židovska zajednica.

– Knjižara je 1943. godine zatvorena i njezina imovina konfiscirana. Ratni uvjeti te nova, okupacijska vlast ograničavali su dotadašnje poslovanje te je knjižara djelovala pod pritiskom cenzure u strogo određenim i kontroliranim uvjetima. Aldo Morpurgo je 1941. godine uhapšen i politički interniran u južnu Italiju, iz koje je, nakon oslobođenja 1943. godine, uspio emigrirati u Palestinu. Njegov otac, Eugen Morpurgo, vodio je knjižaru do 1943. godine, kada su ga uhapsili njemački okupatori i odveli u koncentracijski logor Banjica pokraj Beograda, gdje je ubijen.

To je samo djelić duge i teške povijesti ove knjižare.

Nakon dugo vremena otvorena su vrata najstarije splitske knjižare! Splićane je danas iznenadio prizor otvorenog "Morpurga"  na Pjaci. U njemu, doduše, nema knjiga ni knjižara, ali smo vidjeli meštre kako rade. Dakle, sad je tamo bauštel, a mi se nadamo da će uskoro na tom mjestu biti police s knjigama.

A budući da se ova knjižara nalazi na popisu zaštićenih kulturnih dobara RH, tamo ne bi smjelo biti ništa drugo nego knjižara. Podsjetimo, knjižara Morpurgo nije mijenjala svoju lokaciju od 1860. godine,  kada je otvorena na Narodnom trgu.

ako je preživjela dva svjetska rata, pa i onaj Domovinski, te na ponos svih Splićana još uvijek nosi titulu jedne od tri najstarije europske knjižare koja djeluje u kontinuitetu, uz onu u Lisabonu i Parizu, upitno je kada će knjižara ...
