Boži Vukičeviću za sve je u karijeri "kriv" njegov stariji brat. On je taj koji je, kao član školske fotosekcije, jednoga dana doma donio aparat. A stereotip kaže da ono što ima stariji, mora imati i mlađi brat, čak i po cijenu da ne ide na ekskurziju s prijateljima iz razreda. Na koncu je sve sretno završilo; Božo je otišao na ekskurziju, roditelji su mu kupili Practicu L2, kakva je u to vrijeme bila prisutna u ovim krajevima, a izdanja Hanza Medije dobila su sjajnog fotografa koji već trideset godina u kontinuitetu jednako uspješno snima na kopnu i pod morem. A to što umjetnička fotografija, kojom se voli baviti, nije isto što i novinska, to nikad nije bila smetnja. Božidar Vukičević spojio je, naime, dva svoja hobija u jednu profesiju kao nitko drugi u Hrvatskoj.

Iako je snimati počeo u Omladinskoj iskri, nije mu bilo ispod časti u Slobodnoj Dalmaciji početi kao laborant i razvijati tuđe filmove i fotografije. No, kad je zatražio i dobio priliku da sa splitskih ulica donese neku fotovijest, tu je priliku iskoristio i ušao u društvo najboljih fotografa koje Cropix danas ima.

Njegov podmorski portret predsjednika Mesića bio je hrvatska novinska fotografija godine, ali nije to jedina njegova fotografija za koju ljudi uglavnom ne znaju tko ju je snimio. Sudbina fotografa je takva; uvijek su s onu stranu objektiva, a njihovo je ime pored fotke uvijek napisano (pre)malim slovima – neovisno o tome radi li se o dnevnim novinama ili o čuvenim monografijama.

Sjetimo se Božinih ratnih fotografija iz istočne i zapadne Slavonije, brojnih dalmatinskih ratišta, od Zadra i Šibenika, preko Zagore do Dubrovnika, sjetimo se snimki iz "Oluje". Isti entuzijazam s kojim je tada išao na teren nije ga napustio ni trideset godina poslije, kada je trebalo ostaviti sve i otići na hladnu Banovinu, razrušenu katastrofalnim potresom.

Svaka fotografija s postradalih područja pričala je više od tisuću riječi, svjedočila o stradanjima ljudi i motivirala Hrvatsku da pomogne stradalom narodu Banovine. Fotografije Božidara Vukičevića s potresom stradalih obišle su gotovo sve hrvatske medije i uz fotografije njegovih kolega našle su mjesto u monografiji "Hrvatska 2020. godina potresa".

Boži Vukičeviću za sve je u karijeri "kriv" njegov stariji brat. On je taj koji je, kao član školske fotosekcije, jednoga dana doma donio aparat. A stereotip kaže da ono što ima stariji, mora imati i mlađi brat, čak i po cijenu da ne ide na ekskurziju s prijateljima iz razreda. Na koncu je sve sretno završilo; Božo je otišao na ekskurziju, roditelji su mu kupili Practicu L2, kakva je u to vrijeme bila prisutna u ovim krajevima, a izdanja Hanza Medije dobila su sjajnog fotografa koji već trideset godina u kontinuitetu jednako uspješno snima na kopnu i pod morem. A to što umjetnička fotografija, kojom se voli baviti, nije isto što i novinska, to nikad nije bila smetnja. Božidar Vukičević spojio je, naime, dva svoja hobija u jednu profesiju kao nitko drugi u Hrvatskoj.

Iako je snimati počeo u Omladinskoj iskri, nije mu bilo ispod časti u Slobodnoj Dalmaciji početi kao laborant i razvijati tuđe filmove i fotografije. No, kad je zatražio i dobio priliku da sa splitskih ulica donese neku fotovijest, tu je priliku iskoristio i ušao u društvo najboljih fotografa koje Cropix danas ima.

Njegov podmorski portret predsjednika Mesića bio je hrvatska novinska fotografija godine, ali nije to jedina njegova fotografija za koju ljudi uglavnom ne znaju tko ju je snimio. Sudbina fotografa je takva; uvijek su s onu stranu objektiva, a njihovo je ime pored fotke uvijek napisano (pre)malim slovima – neovisno o tome radi li se o dnevnim novinama ili o čuvenim monografijama.

Sjetimo se Božinih ratnih fotografija iz istočne i zapadne Slavonije, brojnih dalmatinskih ratišta, od Zadra i Šibenika, preko Zagore do Dubrovnika, sjetimo se snimki iz "Oluje". Isti entuzijazam s kojim je tada išao na teren nije ga napustio ni trideset godina poslije, kada je trebalo ostaviti sve i otići na hladnu Banovinu, razrušenu katastrofalnim potresom.

Svaka fotografija s postradalih područja pričala je više od tisuću riječi, svjedočila o stradanjima ljudi i motivirala Hrvatsku da pomogne stradalom narodu Banovine. Fotografije Božidara Vukičevića s potresom stradalih obišle su gotovo sve hrvatske medije i uz fotografije njegovih kolega našle su mjesto u monografiji "Hrvatska 2020. godina potresa".

Boži Vukičeviću za sve je u karijeri "kriv" njegov stariji brat. On je taj koji je, kao član školske fotosekcije, jednoga dana doma donio aparat. A stereotip kaže da ono što ima stariji, mora imati i mlađi brat, čak i po cijenu da ne ide na ekskurziju s prijateljima iz razreda. Na koncu je sve sretno završilo; Božo je otišao na ekskurziju, roditelji su mu kupili Practicu L2, kakva je u to vrijeme bila prisutna u ovim krajevima, a izdanja Hanza Medije dobila su sjajnog fotografa koji već trideset godina u kontinuitetu jednako uspješno snima na kopnu i pod morem. A to što umjetnička fotografija, kojom se voli baviti, nije isto što i novinska, to nikad nije bila smetnja.
