Arhitektura tvrđave Gripe, najbolje sačuvanog dijela velikog sustava mletačke obrane Splita, uvijek intrigira razne struke, ovog puta arheologe koji će predstojećih dana provesti istraživanja uz sjeverozapadni rub fortifikacije.
U ponedjeljak ujutro na zelenoj površini pokraj tvrđave zatekli smo radnike kako bagerom poravnavaju zaraslu površinu. Budući da su naši sugrađani s pravom postali osjetljivi na svaku intervenciju u prostoru, jer gotovo svakodnevno svjedoče raznoraznim prenamjenama prostor i uništavanju rijetkih zelenih površina u širem središtu Splita, tako su i sada nazvali našu redakciju u strahu da na toj privatnoj parceli ne nikne kakav hotel.
– Ne gradimo nikakav hotela, nema straha! Mali bager samo će ukloniti korov i smeće koje se tu nakupilo, bez oštećivanja stabala, a idućih dana provest ćemo probne radove kako bismo utvrdili je li što ostalo od sjeverozapadnog bastiona tvrđave Gripe koji je svojedobno srušen. Nije nam poznato jesu li ostali njegovi temelji, je li uništen do geološke osnove... Ako što nađemo, pozicionirat ćemo lokalitet, i to je to. Radovi bi trebali potrajati nekoliko dana, a nikakva šteta neće ostati iza nas. Građani mogu biti mirni – kazao nam je Vedran Katavić , arheolog koji vodi istraživanje pod paskom Konzervatorskog odjela.
Barokna utvrda Gripe građena je od 1656. do 1660. godine kako bi pred turskom opasnošću obranila Split, koji tada još nije bio utvrđen suvremenim zidinama od kojih su do danas u većoj ili manjoj mjeri sačuvani dijelovi bastiona Priuli, Cornaro i Contarini. Podignuta je na brežuljku istočno od grada s kojega se nadzirao gotovo cijeli Split i njegova okolica.
Prema riječima stručnjaka, to je primjer izdvojene utvrde zvjezdolikoga tlocrta s četiri višekutna bastiona od kojih je sjeverozapadni ostao nedovršen, što je vidljivo i iz povijesnih karata, a kasnije je i potpuno srušen.

Arhitektura tvrđave Gripe, najbolje sačuvanog dijela velikog sustava mletačke obrane Splita, uvijek intrigira razne struke, ovog puta arheologe koji će predstojećih dana provesti istraživanja uz sjeverozapadni rub fortifikacije.
U ponedjeljak ujutro na zelenoj površini pokraj tvrđave zatekli smo radnike kako bagerom poravnavaju zaraslu površinu. Budući da su naši sugrađani s pravom postali osjetljivi na svaku intervenciju u prostoru, jer gotovo svakodnevno svjedoče raznoraznim prenamjenama prostor i uništavanju rijetkih zelenih površina u širem središtu Splita, tako su i sada nazvali našu redakciju u strahu da na toj privatnoj parceli ne nikne kakav hotel.
– Ne gradimo nikakav hotela, nema straha! Mali bager samo će ukloniti korov i smeće koje se tu nakupilo, bez oštećivanja stabala, a idućih dana provest ćemo probne radove kako bismo utvrdili je li što ostalo od sjeverozapadnog bastiona tvrđave Gripe koji je svojedobno srušen. Nije nam poznato jesu li ostali njegovi temelji, je li uništen do geološke osnove... Ako što nađemo, pozicionirat ćemo lokalitet, i to je to. Radovi bi trebali potrajati nekoliko dana, a nikakva šteta neće ostati iza nas. Građani mogu biti mirni – kazao nam je Vedran Katavić , arheolog koji vodi istraživanje pod paskom Konzervatorskog odjela.
Barokna utvrda Gripe građena je od 1656. do 1660. godine kako bi pred turskom opasnošću obranila Split, koji tada još nije bio utvrđen suvremenim zidinama od kojih su do danas u većoj ili manjoj mjeri sačuvani dijelovi bastiona Priuli, Cornaro i Contarini. Podignuta je na brežuljku istočno od grada s kojega se nadzirao gotovo cijeli Split i njegova okolica.
Prema riječima stručnjaka, to je primjer izdvojene utvrde zvjezdolikoga tlocrta s četiri višekutna bastiona od kojih je sjeverozapadni ostao nedovršen, što je vidljivo i iz povijesnih karata, a kasnije je i potpuno srušen.
