Grčki pravoslavni monah na planini Atos, središtu pravoslavnog monaštva, preminuo je u 82. godini života, a da nikada nije vidio ženu.
Ovo je priča o Michaelu Tolotosu. Rođen oko 1856., Tolotos se suočio s tragičnim početkom svog života kada mu je majka preminula samo četiri sata nakon njegova rođenja, piše greekreporter.com.
Bez oca ili drugih članova obitelji koji su se javili, dječak se našao napušten na stepenicama samostana smještenog na vrhu planine Atos. Srećom, samostan ga je primio i postao njegov novi dom.

Odgojen i školovan u samostanu ograđenom zidinama, Tolotos se nijednom nije usudio proći kroz vrata samostana. Za sve to vrijeme na snazi je bio zakon donesen 1060. godine kojim se ženama i životinjama zabranjuje pristup Svetoj Gori. Zakon koji i danas vrijedi.
Cijeli život proživio je povučeno, zaštićen od vanjskog svijeta, a da nijednom nije susreo ženu. Naposljetku, 1938. godine, u dobi od 82 godine, preminuo je, a da nikada nije vidio izgled žene.
Redovnika su čak posebno sahranili svi redovnici koji žive na planini Atos koji su vjerovali da je on jedini muškarac na svijetu koji je umro ne znajući kako žena izgleda.
Očigledno nikada nije vidio automobil ili avion, a nikad nije gledao ni film.

Grčki pravoslavni monah živio je na Svetoj Gori
Planina Atos, koja se na grčkom naziva "Sveta Gora", jedno je od najvažnijih središta kršćanskog pravoslavnog svijeta.
U njemu se nalazi dvadeset samostana pod izravnom jurisdikcijom Ekumenskog patrijarha Carigrada, njime se upravlja kao autonomnom državom unutar Grčke Republike.
Prvi monasi stigli su na planinu Atos u devetom stoljeću. Danas više od dvije tisuće monaha iz Grčke i mnogih drugih zemalja, uključujući Rumunjsku, Moldaviju, Gruziju, Bugarsku, Srbiju, Rusiju i Sjedinjene Države, živi asketskim životom na Atosu, izolirano od ostatka svijeta.
U samostanima se nalaze neprocjenjive zbirke dobro očuvanih artefakata, uključujući rijetke knjige, stare dokumente i umjetnička djela goleme povijesne vrijednosti. Planina Atos nalazi se na UNESCO-vom popisu svjetske baštine od 1988.
Među nebrojenim blagom i svetim relikvijama najdragocjeniji i neprocjenjivi za grčko pravoslavlje su sveti darovi za koje se vjeruje da su tri mudraca s Istoka ponudili novorođenom Isusu.
Nekim strancima jednostavan zajednički život redovnika može se činiti arhaičnim. Ali za muškarce koji su tamo odlučili živjeti, to je miran, pa čak i blažen život.

Grčki pravoslavni monah na planini Atos, središtu pravoslavnog monaštva, preminuo je u 82. godini života, a da nikada nije vidio ženu.
Ovo je priča o Michaelu Tolotosu. Rođen oko 1856., Tolotos se suočio s tragičnim početkom svog života kada mu je majka preminula samo četiri sata nakon njegova rođenja, piše greekreporter.com.
Bez oca ili drugih članova obitelji koji su se javili, dječak se našao napušten na stepenicama samostana smještenog na vrhu planine Atos. Srećom, samostan ga je primio i postao njegov novi dom.

Odgojen i školovan u samostanu ograđenom zidinama, Tolotos se nijednom nije usudio proći kroz vrata samostana. Za sve to vrijeme na snazi je bio zakon donesen 1060. godine kojim se ženama i životinjama zabranjuje pristup Svetoj Gori. Zakon koji i danas vrijedi.
Cijeli život proživio je povučeno, zaštićen od vanjskog svijeta, a da nijednom nije susreo ženu. Naposljetku, 1938. godine, u dobi od 82 godine, preminuo je, a da nikada nije vidio izgled žene.
Redovnika su čak posebno sahranili svi redovnici koji žive na planini Atos koji su vjerovali da je on jedini muškarac na svijetu koji je umro ne znajući kako žena izgleda.
Očigledno nikada nije vidio automobil ili avion, a nikad nije gledao ni film.

Grčki pravoslavni monah živio je na Svetoj Gori
Planina Atos, koja se na grčkom naziva "Sveta Gora", jedno je od najvažnijih središta kršćanskog pravoslavnog svijeta.
U njemu se nalazi dvadeset samostana pod izravnom jurisdikcijom Ekumenskog patrijarha Carigrada, njime se upravlja kao autonomnom državom unutar Grčke Republike.
Prvi monasi stigli su na planinu Atos u devetom stoljeću. Danas više od dvije tisuće monaha iz Grčke i mnogih drugih zemalja, uključujući Rumunjsku, Moldaviju, Gruziju, Bugarsku, Srbiju, Rusiju i Sjedinjene Države, živi asketskim životom na Atosu, izolirano od ostatka svijeta.
U samostanima se nalaze neprocjenjive zbirke dobro očuvanih artefakata, uključujući rijetke knjige, stare dokumente i umjetnička djela goleme povijesne vrijednosti. Planina Atos nalazi se na UNESCO-vom popisu svjetske baštine od 1988.
Među nebrojenim blagom i svetim relikvijama najdragocjeniji i neprocjenjivi za grčko pravoslavlje su sveti darovi za koje se vjeruje da su tri mudraca s Istoka ponudili novorođenom Isusu.
Nekim strancima jednostavan zajednički život redovnika može se činiti arhaičnim. Ali za muškarce koji su tamo odlučili živjeti, to je miran, pa čak i blažen život.
