Asteroid koji se nalazi između Marsa i Jupitera u nedjelju je nazvan Miep Gies u čast Nizozemke koja je sačuvala dnevnik Ane Frank koji je kasnije postao svjetski bestseller.

Međunarodna astronomska unija (IAU) je rekla da je željela skrenuti pozornost na hrabrost sada stogodišnje posljednje pomagačice židovske obitelji Frank koja se tijekom Drugog svjetskog rata skrivala u jednoj zgradi u Amstrdamu.

Asteroid otkriven 1972. godine od sada će biti zvan Miep Gies a ima promjer od oko sedam kilometara.

Gies se brinula za Frankove, adolescenticu Anu, njene roditelje i sestru, i druge Židove koji su se u Nizozemskoj skrivali od nacista. Ana je u skrovištu od 1942. do 1944. pisala denvnik a nakon što su Frankovi otkriveni i deportirani Gies je sačuvala dnevnik.

Ana Frank je umrla od tifusa u koncentracijskom logoru Bergen-Belsen u ožujku 1945. pred njen šesnaesti rođendan.

Gies je rođena 1909. u Beču kao Hermine Santouschitz a usvojena je u Nizozemskoj. Danas živi povučeno u svojoj kući u nizozemskoj pokrajini Friziji.

Asteroid koji se nalazi između Marsa i Jupitera u nedjelju je nazvan Miep Gies u čast Nizozemke koja je sačuvala dnevnik Ane Frank koji je kasnije postao svjetski bestseller.

Međunarodna astronomska unija (IAU) je rekla da je željela skrenuti pozornost na hrabrost sada stogodišnje posljednje pomagačice židovske obitelji Frank koja se tijekom Drugog svjetskog rata skrivala u jednoj zgradi u Amstrdamu.

Asteroid otkriven 1972. godine od sada će biti zvan Miep Gies a ima promjer od oko sedam kilometara.

Gies se brinula za Frankove, adolescenticu Anu, njene roditelje i sestru, i druge Židove koji su se u Nizozemskoj skrivali od nacista. Ana je u skrovištu od 1942. do 1944. pisala denvnik a nakon što su Frankovi otkriveni i deportirani Gies je sačuvala dnevnik.

Ana Frank je umrla od tifusa u koncentracijskom logoru Bergen-Belsen u ožujku 1945. pred njen šesnaesti rođendan.

Gies je rođena 1909. u Beču kao Hermine Santouschitz a usvojena je u Nizozemskoj. Danas živi povučeno u svojoj kući u nizozemskoj pokrajini Friziji.
