Veća količina masnog tkiva je povezana s udvostručenjem rizika obolijevanja od raka dojke, čak i kod žena čija je ukupna tjelesna masa u preporučenim granicama. Istraživači iz Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center u New Yorku su se koristili podacima prikupljenima od 3460 ispitanica u dobi od 50 do 79 godina. Sudionice istraživanja su praćene 16 godina.
Znanstvenici pojašnjavaju kako suvišne naslage masnog tkiva nemaju dovoljnu opskrbu krvlju, što dovodi do odumiranja stanica masti.
Posljedica je razvoj upalnih procesa koji u određenim okolnostima mogu povećati rizik obolijevanja od raka dojke. Uz to, masno tkivo je kod žena koje su prošle menopauzu izvor kontinuirane proizvodnje hormona estrogena.
Ranija istraživanja provedena na ženama koje su prošle menopauzu su ukazala na vezu između prevelike tjelesne mase i povećanja rizika obolijevanja od raka dojke.

Veća količina masnog tkiva je povezana s udvostručenjem rizika obolijevanja od raka dojke, čak i kod žena čija je ukupna tjelesna masa u preporučenim granicama. Istraživači iz Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center u New Yorku su se koristili podacima prikupljenima od 3460 ispitanica u dobi od 50 do 79 godina. Sudionice istraživanja su praćene 16 godina.
Znanstvenici pojašnjavaju kako suvišne naslage masnog tkiva nemaju dovoljnu opskrbu krvlju, što dovodi do odumiranja stanica masti.
Posljedica je razvoj upalnih procesa koji u određenim okolnostima mogu povećati rizik obolijevanja od raka dojke. Uz to, masno tkivo je kod žena koje su prošle menopauzu izvor kontinuirane proizvodnje hormona estrogena.
Ranija istraživanja provedena na ženama koje su prošle menopauzu su ukazala na vezu između prevelike tjelesne mase i povećanja rizika obolijevanja od raka dojke.
