Alzheimerova bolest jedan je od najčešćih zdravstvenih problema među starijom populacijom. Smatra se da je bolest u velikoj mjeri povezana s oštećenom sposobnošću tijela da regulira razinu bakra u tkivima.
Studija estonskih istraživača objavljena u časopisu Scientific Reports donosi nove uvide u molekule koje nose bakar. Ova bi otkrića mogla dati važan doprinos boljem razumijevanju Alzheimerove bolesti i otkrivanju novih mogućnosti liječenja ili usporavanju bolesti.
Bakar je bitan element, ali mogu nastati komplikacije ako ga u tijelu ima previše. Bakar se smatra vrlo važnim hranjivim elementom, posebno kada je u pitanju naš metabolizam. Naime, to je element koji je nužna komponenta mnogih enzima koji djeluju kao katalizatori u važnim metaboličkim procesima.
Međutim, čak ni znanstvenici još uvijek ne razumiju najbolje kako se odvija prijenos bakra kroz tijelo i kako se reguliraju njegove vrijednosti u našim tkivima. Manje količine bakra mogu se naći u raznim dijelovima tijela, ali u najvećim koncentracijama pojavljuje se u najaktivnijim organima i organskim sustavima, poput mozga, srca, bubrega, jetre i koštanih mišića.
Bakar je neophodan za proizvodnju energije tijekom staničnog disanja i za stvaranje crvenih krvnih stanica, a također ima vrlo važan učinak na neurone i učinkovitost imunološkog sustava. Ali ako u tijelu ima previše bakra, može doći do prekomjerne proizvodnje štetnih slobodnih radikala.
Prekomjerne količine bakra dovode do stvaranja betaamiloidnih plakova u mozgu. Stoga, kada nije moguće regulirati količinu bakra u tijelu, povećava se rizik od mnogih kroničnih bolesti, uključujući Alzheimerovu bolest kod koje je akumuliranje prekomjerne količine bakra u mozgu posebno problematično.
To dovodi do stvaranja beta-amiloidnih plakova, koji su glavni pokazatelj Alzheimerove bolesti. Bakar ne samo da sprječava uklanjanje molekula betaamiloida, već čak potiče stvaranje netopljivih naslaga. Estonski su znanstvenici željeli detaljnije proučiti transport bakra krvlju. Prije su biokemičari bili uvjereni da su tri proteina važna, ali novo istraživanje otkrilo je da je jedan protein zapravo presudan.
Smatra se da albumin igra ključnu ulogu u transportu bakra. Istraživači su najprije proučavali koliko je jaka veza između pojedinih proteina i bakrenih iona. Pritom su koristili inovativne metode koje omogućuju odvajanje i identifikaciju molekula koje su prisutne u biološkim tekućinama samo u tragovima. Otkrili su da se oko 75 posto bakrenih iona u krvi veže za ceruloplazmin, a preostalih 25 posto za albumin.
Novi načini praćenja
Međutim, veza između bakra i ceruloplazmina toliko je jaka da malo vjerojatno da će potonji igrati značajnu ulogu u transportu bakra u ona područja u kojima je ovaj element najpotrebniji.
Stoga se čini da je glavna funkcija ceruloplazmina pomagati drugom proteinu u prijenosu željeza kroz krv. S druge strane pokazalo se da je veza između albumina i bakra slabija, odnosno da je albumin presudan za transport bakra, a smatra se da je aminokiselina zvana histidin katalizator koji omogućuje oslobađanje bakra po potrebi.
Razumijevanje metabolizma bakra u zdrave osobe kao osnove za liječenje Istraživači sa Sveučilišta u Tallinnu, koji su istraživanje proveli u suradnji sa švedskom farmaceutskom tvrtkom, smatraju da bi ovo otkriće moglo biti važno za otkrivanje poremećaja u metabolizmu bakra, koji su također karakteristični za Alzheimerovu bolest.
Da bismo mogli točno utvrditi što nije u redu, potrebno je prethodno shvatiti kako funkcionira normalni metabolizam bakra u zdrave osobe.
Istodobno, nalazi estonskih istraživača mogli bi pružiti nove načine za praćenje učinkovitosti lijekova dizajniranih za regulaciju bakra u tijelu.

Alzheimerova bolest jedan je od najčešćih zdravstvenih problema među starijom populacijom. Smatra se da je bolest u velikoj mjeri povezana s oštećenom sposobnošću tijela da regulira razinu bakra u tkivima.
Studija estonskih istraživača objavljena u časopisu Scientific Reports donosi nove uvide u molekule koje nose bakar. Ova bi otkrića mogla dati važan doprinos boljem razumijevanju Alzheimerove bolesti i otkrivanju novih mogućnosti liječenja ili usporavanju bolesti.
Bakar je bitan element, ali mogu nastati komplikacije ako ga u tijelu ima previše. Bakar se smatra vrlo važnim hranjivim elementom, posebno kada je u pitanju naš metabolizam. Naime, to je element koji je nužna komponenta mnogih enzima koji djeluju kao katalizatori u važnim metaboličkim procesima.
Međutim, čak ni znanstvenici još uvijek ne razumiju najbolje kako se odvija prijenos bakra kroz tijelo i kako se reguliraju njegove vrijednosti u našim tkivima. Manje količine bakra mogu se naći u raznim dijelovima tijela, ali u najvećim koncentracijama pojavljuje se u najaktivnijim organima i organskim sustavima, poput mozga, srca, bubrega, jetre i koštanih mišića.
Bakar je neophodan za proizvodnju energije tijekom staničnog disanja i za stvaranje crvenih krvnih stanica, a također ima vrlo važan učinak na neurone i učinkovitost imunološkog sustava. Ali ako u tijelu ima previše bakra, može doći do prekomjerne proizvodnje štetnih slobodnih radikala.
Prekomjerne količine bakra dovode do stvaranja betaamiloidnih plakova u mozgu. Stoga, kada nije moguće regulirati količinu bakra u tijelu, povećava se rizik od mnogih kroničnih bolesti, uključujući Alzheimerovu bolest kod koje je akumuliranje prekomjerne količine bakra u mozgu posebno problematično.
To dovodi do stvaranja beta-amiloidnih plakova, koji su glavni pokazatelj Alzheimerove bolesti. Bakar ne samo da sprječava uklanjanje molekula betaamiloida, već čak potiče stvaranje netopljivih naslaga. Estonski su znanstvenici željeli detaljnije proučiti transport bakra krvlju. Prije su biokemičari bili uvjereni da su tri proteina važna, ali novo istraživanje otkrilo je da je jedan protein zapravo presudan.
Smatra se da albumin igra ključnu ulogu u transportu bakra. Istraživači su najprije proučavali koliko je jaka veza između pojedinih proteina i bakrenih iona. Pritom su koristili inovativne metode koje omogućuju odvajanje i identifikaciju molekula koje su prisutne u biološkim tekućinama samo u tragovima. Otkrili su da se oko 75 posto bakrenih iona u krvi veže za ceruloplazmin, a preostalih 25 posto za albumin.
Novi načini praćenja
Međutim, veza između bakra i ceruloplazmina toliko je jaka da malo vjerojatno da će potonji igrati značajnu ulogu u transportu bakra u ona područja u kojima je ovaj element najpotrebniji.
Stoga se čini da je glavna funkcija ceruloplazmina pomagati drugom proteinu u prijenosu željeza kroz krv. S druge strane pokazalo se da je veza između albumina i bakra slabija, odnosno da je albumin presudan za transport bakra, a smatra se da je aminokiselina zvana histidin katalizator koji omogućuje oslobađanje bakra po potrebi.
Razumijevanje metabolizma bakra u zdrave osobe kao osnove za liječenje Istraživači sa Sveučilišta u Tallinnu, koji su istraživanje proveli u suradnji sa švedskom farmaceutskom tvrtkom, smatraju da bi ovo otkriće moglo biti važno za otkrivanje poremećaja u metabolizmu bakra, koji su također karakteristični za Alzheimerovu bolest.
Da bismo mogli točno utvrditi što nije u redu, potrebno je prethodno shvatiti kako funkcionira normalni metabolizam bakra u zdrave osobe.
Istodobno, nalazi estonskih istraživača mogli bi pružiti nove načine za praćenje učinkovitosti lijekova dizajniranih za regulaciju bakra u tijelu.
