Žene cijepljene protiv koronavirusa imale su neznatno kašnjenje u mjesečnici od gotovo jednog dana u odnosu na one koje nisu bile cijepljene, prema studiji koju financirala američka vlada.
No, na trajanje mjesečnice cijepljenje nije utjecalo, prema istraživanju provedenom na gotovo 4000 žena i objavljenom u četvrtak u časopisu "Obstetrics & Gynecology".
Voditeljica istraživanja Alison Edelman sa Sveučilišta za zdravlje i znanost Oregon rekla je za AFP da su učinci mali i očekuje se da će biti privremeni, što je "vrlo ohrabrujući" nalaz za one kod kojih se pojave te promjene.
Studija također može pomoći u suzbijanju dezinformacija protiv cjepiva o toj temi, koje su raširene na društvenim mrežama.
Blago povećanje duljine menstrualnog ciklusa nije klinički značajno. Svaku promjenu kraću od osam dana Međunarodna federacija ginekologije i porodništva klasificira kao normalnu.
Menstrualni ciklusi traju oko 28 dana, ali njihovo trajanje varira od žene do žene, kao i unutar životnog vijeka žene. Također se može promijeniti u vrijeme stresa.
Za potrebe svoga istraživanja znanstvenici su analizirali podatke iz aplikacije za anonimno praćenje plodnosti, među ženama u dobi od 18 do 45 godina koje nisu koristile hormonsku kontracepciju.
Cijepljeno je oko 2400 sudionika -- većina s Pfizerom (55 posto), a slijede ga Moderna (35 posto) i Johnson & Johnson (sedam posto).
Za usporedbu je uključeno i oko 1500 necijepljenih žena.
Među cijepljenom skupinom prikupljeni su podaci iz tri uzastopna ciklusa prije cijepljenja i iz još tri uzastopna ciklusa, uključujući ciklus ili cikluse u kojima se cijepilo.
Za necijepljene osobe podaci su prikupljani za šest uzastopnih ciklusa.
U prosjeku, prva doza cjepiva bila je povezana s povećanjem duljine ciklusa od 0,64 dana, a druga doza s povećanjem od 0,79 dana, kada se usporedi cijepljena i necijepljena skupina.
Odgovor imunosnog sustava na cjepivo mogao bi biti razlog te promjene.
"Znamo da su imunosni i reproduktivni sustav međusobno povezani", rekla je Edelman.
Aktivirani imunosni sustav mogao bi utjecati na osovinu hipotalamus-hipofiza-jajnici - ono što Edelman naziva "putom kojim vaš mozak razgovara s vašim jajnicima, razgovara s vašom maternicom" ili jednostavno "tjelesnim satom".
Točnije, čini se da proizvodnja upalnih proteina zvanih citokini remeti način na koji ova os regulira menstrualne cikluse.
Čini se da su promjene najizraženije kada se cijepljenje obavi rano u folikularnoj fazi, koja počinje prvog dana menstruacije (krvarenje) i završava kada počne ovulacija.

Žene cijepljene protiv koronavirusa imale su neznatno kašnjenje u mjesečnici od gotovo jednog dana u odnosu na one koje nisu bile cijepljene, prema studiji koju financirala američka vlada.
No, na trajanje mjesečnice cijepljenje nije utjecalo, prema istraživanju provedenom na gotovo 4000 žena i objavljenom u četvrtak u časopisu "Obstetrics & Gynecology".
Voditeljica istraživanja Alison Edelman sa Sveučilišta za zdravlje i znanost Oregon rekla je za AFP da su učinci mali i očekuje se da će biti privremeni, što je "vrlo ohrabrujući" nalaz za one kod kojih se pojave te promjene.
Studija također može pomoći u suzbijanju dezinformacija protiv cjepiva o toj temi, koje su raširene na društvenim mrežama.
Blago povećanje duljine menstrualnog ciklusa nije klinički značajno. Svaku promjenu kraću od osam dana Međunarodna federacija ginekologije i porodništva klasificira kao normalnu.
Menstrualni ciklusi traju oko 28 dana, ali njihovo trajanje varira od žene do žene, kao i unutar životnog vijeka žene. Također se može promijeniti u vrijeme stresa.
Za potrebe svoga istraživanja znanstvenici su analizirali podatke iz aplikacije za anonimno praćenje plodnosti, među ženama u dobi od 18 do 45 godina koje nisu koristile hormonsku kontracepciju.
Cijepljeno je oko 2400 sudionika -- većina s Pfizerom (55 posto), a slijede ga Moderna (35 posto) i Johnson & Johnson (sedam posto).
Za usporedbu je uključeno i oko 1500 necijepljenih žena.
Među cijepljenom skupinom prikupljeni su podaci iz tri uzastopna ciklusa prije cijepljenja i iz još tri uzastopna ciklusa, uključujući ciklus ili cikluse u kojima se cijepilo.
Za necijepljene osobe podaci su prikupljani za šest uzastopnih ciklusa.
U prosjeku, prva doza cjepiva bila je povezana s povećanjem duljine ciklusa od 0,64 dana, a druga doza s povećanjem od 0,79 dana, kada se usporedi cijepljena i necijepljena skupina.
Odgovor imunosnog sustava na cjepivo mogao bi biti razlog te promjene.
"Znamo da su imunosni i reproduktivni sustav međusobno povezani", rekla je Edelman.
Aktivirani imunosni sustav mogao bi utjecati na osovinu hipotalamus-hipofiza-jajnici - ono što Edelman naziva "putom kojim vaš mozak razgovara s vašim jajnicima, razgovara s vašom maternicom" ili jednostavno "tjelesnim satom".
Točnije, čini se da proizvodnja upalnih proteina zvanih citokini remeti način na koji ova os regulira menstrualne cikluse.
Čini se da su promjene najizraženije kada se cijepljenje obavi rano u folikularnoj fazi, koja počinje prvog dana menstruacije (krvarenje) i završava kada počne ovulacija.
Zapravo, podskupina ljudi koja je primila dvije injekcije cjepiva Pfizer ili Moderna tijekom istog ciklusa, za razliku od dva različita ciklusa, zabilježila je prosječno povećanje duljine ciklusa od dva dana - ali učinak se opet čini privremenim.
Tim se sada nada da će prikupiti više podataka o sljedećim ciklusima među cijepljenim ženama kako bi potvrdili dugoročni povratak na početnu vrijednost te se nadaju da će proširiti studiju na globalnu razinu kako bi mogli razlikovati učinke između marki cjepiva.
