Medicinska sestra s Floride, 24-godišnja Bailey McBreen, nije mogla prestati podrigivati i to do deset puta dnevno, a onda je otkrila da je njezin simptom uzrokovan nedijagnosticiranim rakom u kasnom stadiju.
Njezino podrigivanje započelo je 2021., a ona ga je ignorirala sve dok nije otišla na pregled koji je pokazao da je simptom uznapredovao sve do refluksa kiseline i ‘mučnih‘ grčeva u želucu. Iako je McBreen vježbala više puta tjedno i prakticirala zdrav život, na kraju joj je dijagnosticiran rak debelog crijeva u trećem stadiju, što je za nju i obitelj predstavljalo ‘veliki šok‘, piše Daily Mail, a prenosi Jutarnji list.
Iako se podrigivanje kao znak raka može činiti bizarnim, rak debelog crijeva može uzrokovati opstrukcije u probavnom traktu, što dovodi do viška plinova.
"Prvi znak da nešto nije bilo u redu, iako to tada nisam znala, bio je kad sam počela pretjerano podrigivati. Podrigivala sam 5-10 puta dnevno. To mi nije bilo normalno", otkrila je McBreen.
Iako je odmah završila na hitnoj operaciji, McBreen morat će primati kemoterapije do kraja kolovoza. Sada želi potaknuti i druge da slušaju svoje tijelo ako osjete da nešto nije u redu.
Podrigivanje je počelo prošle godine, no o tome u početku nije previše razmišljala. A onda je prošle veljače počela patiti i od refluksa kiseline, što su liječnici pripisali tome što je patila i od tjeskobe. Sljedećeg siječnja McBreen je osjetila da nešto doista nije u redu - patila je od ‘neizdržive‘ boli, kako kaže, i otkrila da ne može ići na toalet. Također nije imala ni apetita.

Budući da je po zanimanju medicinska sestra, McBreen je bila uvjerena da se u njenom tijelu događa neka vrsta ‘opstrukcije‘, ali kaže da ‘nije imala pojma‘ da je to zapravo tumor sve dok CT nije otkrio da se razvio u debelom crijevu.
"Nikada ni u milijun godina ne bih pomislila da su ti nejasni simptomi zapravo rak debelog crijeva u trećem stadiju. To je doista bilo izvantjelesno iskustvo za mene. Osjećala sam kao da sjedim u kutu sobe i gledam kako mi postavljaju dijagnozu. Činilo mi se da je vrijeme usporilo, a otkucaji mog srca su se ubrzali. Bila sam u potpunom šoku. Prvo što sam uspjela izustiti bilo je - ‘Nisam spremna umrijeti.‘ Sve što sam mogla učiniti u tom trenutku bilo je plakati i žaliti za životom koji sam imala te se psihički pripremiti za ono što slijedi", rekla je McBreen.
McBreen smatra da je tumor uzrokovao pojavu gastroezofagealne refluksne bolesti (GERB), kronične bolesti koja se događa kada se ezofagealni sfinkter ne može pravilno zatvoriti. Kada se taj sfinkter ne može zatvoriti, želučana kiselina putuje do jednjaka, uzrokujući žgaravicu, podrigivanje i probleme s gutanjem.
"U mom slučaju, GERB je bio simptom jer je moj tumor polako izazivao potpunu opstrukciju crijeva", rekla je McBreen i dodala: "Kao rezultat toga, moja se hrana nije u potpunosti probavljala i bila je ‘zarobljena‘ iznad mog tumora, uzrokujući refluks i podrigivanje."

McBreen je samo jedna od mnogih mladih ljudi kojima je dijagnosticiran rak debelog crijeva, treći najčešći oblik bolesti dijagnosticiran u Sjedinjenim Državama, prema Nacionalnom institutu za rak. Izvješće Američkog društva za rak iz 2023. navodi da je stopa raka debelog crijeva u Amerikanaca mlađih od 55 godina porasla s 11 posto svih slučajeva 1995. na 20 posto 2019. godine.

Medicinska sestra s Floride, 24-godišnja Bailey McBreen, nije mogla prestati podrigivati i to do deset puta dnevno, a onda je otkrila da je njezin simptom uzrokovan nedijagnosticiranim rakom u kasnom stadiju.
Njezino podrigivanje započelo je 2021., a ona ga je ignorirala sve dok nije otišla na pregled koji je pokazao da je simptom uznapredovao sve do refluksa kiseline i ‘mučnih‘ grčeva u želucu. Iako je McBreen vježbala više puta tjedno i prakticirala zdrav život, na kraju joj je dijagnosticiran rak debelog crijeva u trećem stadiju, što je za nju i obitelj predstavljalo ‘veliki šok‘, piše Daily Mail, a prenosi Jutarnji list.
Iako se podrigivanje kao znak raka može činiti bizarnim, rak debelog crijeva može uzrokovati opstrukcije u probavnom traktu, što dovodi do viška plinova.
"Prvi znak da nešto nije bilo u redu, iako to tada nisam znala, bio je kad sam počela pretjerano podrigivati. Podrigivala sam 5-10 puta dnevno. To mi nije bilo normalno", otkrila je McBreen.
Iako je odmah završila na hitnoj operaciji, McBreen morat će primati kemoterapije do kraja kolovoza. Sada želi potaknuti i druge da slušaju svoje tijelo ako osjete da nešto nije u redu.
Podrigivanje je počelo prošle godine, no o tome u početku nije previše razmišljala. A onda je prošle veljače počela patiti i od refluksa kiseline, što su liječnici pripisali tome što je patila i od tjeskobe. Sljedećeg siječnja McBreen je osjetila da nešto doista nije u redu - patila je od ‘neizdržive‘ boli, kako kaže, i otkrila da ne može ići na toalet. Također nije imala ni apetita.

Budući da je po zanimanju medicinska sestra, McBreen je bila uvjerena da se u njenom tijelu događa neka vrsta ‘opstrukcije‘, ali kaže da ‘nije imala pojma‘ da je to zapravo tumor sve dok CT nije otkrio da se razvio u debelom crijevu.
"Nikada ni u milijun godina ne bih pomislila da su ti nejasni simptomi zapravo rak debelog crijeva u trećem stadiju. To je doista bilo izvantjelesno iskustvo za mene. Osjećala sam kao da sjedim u kutu sobe i gledam kako mi postavljaju dijagnozu. Činilo mi se da je vrijeme usporilo, a otkucaji mog srca su se ubrzali. Bila sam u potpunom šoku. Prvo što sam uspjela izustiti bilo je - ‘Nisam spremna umrijeti.‘ Sve što sam mogla učiniti u tom trenutku bilo je plakati i žaliti za životom koji sam imala te se psihički pripremiti za ono što slijedi", rekla je McBreen.
McBreen smatra da je tumor uzrokovao pojavu gastroezofagealne refluksne bolesti (GERB), kronične bolesti koja se događa kada se ezofagealni sfinkter ne može pravilno zatvoriti. Kada se taj sfinkter ne može zatvoriti, želučana kiselina putuje do jednjaka, uzrokujući žgaravicu, podrigivanje i probleme s gutanjem.
"U mom slučaju, GERB je bio simptom jer je moj tumor polako izazivao potpunu opstrukciju crijeva", rekla je McBreen i dodala: "Kao rezultat toga, moja se hrana nije u potpunosti probavljala i bila je ‘zarobljena‘ iznad mog tumora, uzrokujući refluks i podrigivanje."

McBreen je samo jedna od mnogih mladih ljudi kojima je dijagnosticiran rak debelog crijeva, treći najčešći oblik bolesti dijagnosticiran u Sjedinjenim Državama, prema Nacionalnom institutu za rak. Izvješće Američkog društva za rak iz 2023. navodi da je stopa raka debelog crijeva u Amerikanaca mlađih od 55 godina porasla s 11 posto svih slučajeva 1995. na 20 posto 2019. godine.
