Vidjeli smo je u mnogim američkim filmovima. I to u filmovima svih žanrova, u ‘lijepim‘ se pojavljuje kao svjedokinja idiličnog života u prirodi, a u ‘ružnim‘ podsjeća da je tu nekad sve bilo predivno. I gledamo je tako deseljećima a da ni ne znamo da joj je ‘službeni‘ naziv Adirondack stolica. Doživljavamo je kao da je kao da ju je od nekoliko dasaka sklepao neki davni doseljenik na obećani kontinent. Od onog što je imao pri ruci, nekoliko različitih letvica i dasaka, nedovoljno čak i za sve četiri noge, pa je zato tako nakrivljena, što je u praksi pokazalo korisnim za odmaranje umornih leđa nakon cjelodnevnog krčenja nekog divljeg zemljišta.

Gotovo da i jest tako bilo, o čemu puno govori i njezino ime Adirondack, nastalo najvjerojatnije zbog istoimene planine. Tu u blizini planine, Adirondack stolicu navodno je prvi napravio izvjesni Thomas Lee između 1900. i 1903. u Westportu, u državi New York. Meštar Lee se nije potrudio patentirati svoj dizajn, ali je to umjesto njega učinio njegov prijatelj Harry C. Bunnell. Nije se baš prijateljski ponio, ali Bunnell je prvotnu stolicu malo preinačio kako bi bila prilagođena rekonvalescentima i poslužila u lječilištima. I bila je popularizirana naročito u bolnicama gdje su se liječili oboljeli od tuberkuloze. Njima je naročito bila pogodna zbog položaja leđa i ugodnih naslona za ruke.

Bunnellova Adirondack stolica imala je naslon od jedne daske u komadu, a onda je 1938. dobila novo patentiranje koje je proveo Irving Wolpin kad je naslon lepezasto sastavio od niza daščica.

Baš tih tridesetih godina Hollywood je u punom usponu, a kaubojki filmovi prilično traženi i rado gledani, pa je i ova zadnja verzija stolice najčešće viđena na filmskoj sceni. A kako smo na početku spomenuli, u scenografiji se nikad nije ni prestala koristiti. Danas je pak zamišljamo kao dio modernog eksterijera, a može se dobro uklopiti i u vječno atraktivan skandinavski stil.

Adirondack stolica je prvenstveno namijenjena vanjskim prostorima, ali dizajnerska mašta nema granica, pa stolica od ‘golog‘ drva može i u interijeru doniti novu notu originalnosti.

Njezina najvažnija karakteristika jest ugodan položaj koji nudi tijelu, a pravo je čudo da je ne vidimo i u našim unutarnjim i vanjskim prostorima. Možda Adirondack stolica ne zaslužuje mjesto među ikonama dizajna, iza nje ne stoji neko zvučno autorsko ime, ali s obzirom da joj je već više od 120 godina, a da se i dalje koristi i proizvodi, ipak je zaslužila pažnju i koji redak.

Danas se ovakav tip stolice ili ležaljke proizvodi od različitih materijala, dobiva uvijek neke nove verzije, ali nikad, baš nikad nije izmijenjena njezina osnovna forma - izrazito visok naslon od letvica, sjedalo povišeno naprijed i široki nasloni za ruke.

Vidjeli smo je u mnogim američkim filmovima. I to u filmovima svih žanrova, u ‘lijepim‘ se pojavljuje kao svjedokinja idiličnog života u prirodi, a u ‘ružnim‘ podsjeća da je tu nekad sve bilo predivno. I gledamo je tako deseljećima a da ni ne znamo da joj je ‘službeni‘ naziv Adirondack stolica. Doživljavamo je kao da je kao da ju je od nekoliko dasaka sklepao neki davni doseljenik na obećani kontinent. Od onog što je imao pri ruci, nekoliko različitih letvica i dasaka, nedovoljno čak i za sve četiri noge, pa je zato tako nakrivljena, što je u praksi pokazalo korisnim za odmaranje umornih leđa nakon cjelodnevnog krčenja nekog divljeg zemljišta.

Gotovo da i jest tako bilo, o čemu puno govori i njezino ime Adirondack, nastalo najvjerojatnije zbog istoimene planine. Tu u blizini planine, Adirondack stolicu navodno je prvi napravio izvjesni Thomas Lee između 1900. i 1903. u Westportu, u državi New York. Meštar Lee se nije potrudio patentirati svoj dizajn, ali je to umjesto njega učinio njegov prijatelj Harry C. Bunnell. Nije se baš prijateljski ponio, ali Bunnell je prvotnu stolicu malo preinačio kako bi bila prilagođena rekonvalescentima i poslužila u lječilištima. I bila je popularizirana naročito u bolnicama gdje su se liječili oboljeli od tuberkuloze. Njima je naročito bila pogodna zbog položaja leđa i ugodnih naslona za ruke.

Bunnellova Adirondack stolica imala je naslon od jedne daske u komadu, a onda je 1938. dobila novo patentiranje koje je proveo Irving Wolpin kad je naslon lepezasto sastavio od niza daščica.

Baš tih tridesetih godina Hollywood je u punom usponu, a kaubojki filmovi prilično traženi i rado gledani, pa je i ova zadnja verzija stolice najčešće viđena na filmskoj sceni. A kako smo na početku spomenuli, u scenografiji se nikad nije ni prestala koristiti. Danas je pak zamišljamo kao dio modernog eksterijera, a može se dobro uklopiti i u vječno atraktivan skandinavski stil.

Adirondack stolica je prvenstveno namijenjena vanjskim prostorima, ali dizajnerska mašta nema granica, pa stolica od ‘golog‘ drva može i u interijeru doniti novu notu originalnosti.

Njezina najvažnija karakteristika jest ugodan položaj koji nudi tijelu, a pravo je čudo da je ne vidimo i u našim unutarnjim i vanjskim prostorima. Možda Adirondack stolica ne zaslužuje mjesto među ikonama dizajna, iza nje ne stoji neko zvučno autorsko ime, ali s obzirom da joj je već više od 120 godina, a da se i dalje koristi i proizvodi, ipak je zaslužila pažnju i koji redak.

Danas se ovakav tip stolice ili ležaljke proizvodi od različitih materijala, dobiva uvijek neke nove verzije, ali nikad, baš nikad nije izmijenjena njezina osnovna forma - izrazito visok naslon od letvica, sjedalo povišeno naprijed i široki nasloni za ruke.
