Nedavno otkriveni komet C/2022 E3, približit će se idućih tjedana Suncu, prvi put nakon 50.000 godina i možda će biti vidljiv golim okom krajem siječnja.

Maleni komet sastavljen od stjenja i leda, promjera oko 1 km, otkriven je u ožujku 2022. programom Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) koji se koristi teleskopom Samuel-Oschin u Opservatriju Palomar u Kaliforniji. Otkriven je dok je prolazio orbitom Jupitera, a sada se kreće prema Suncu i postići će svoj perihel, svoju točku najbližu Suncu 12. siječnja, prema izračunima astronoma.

Kada se komet približi Suncu, led u njegovoj jezgri topi se i prelazi u dug veo prašine koji reflektira Sunčevu svjetlost. Taj blistavi veo trebao bi se moći promatrati sa Zemlje. 

Komet će najviše zablistati "kada bude najbliže Zemlji", kaže Thomas Prince, profesor fizike na Tehnološkom institutu  Kalifornije koji radi za program ZTF. Pojava će ipak biti manje spektakularna nego pri prolasku kometa Hale-Bopp 1997., ili Neowise 2020. koji su mnogo veći. 

Promatranje će biti moguće dobrim dalekozorom, a možda i golim okom dijelom noći, ako ne bude previše mjesečine i onečišćenja svjetlošću. Očekuje se da će najbolja prilika biti vikend 21. i 22. siječnja te tjedan koji će slijediti. U tom razdoblju komet će proći između Malog i Velikog medvjeda prije nego utone u južnu hemisferu i krene u zakutke Sunčeva sustava što je vjerojatno njegova kolijevka. 

Ledeni posjetitelj zadnji je put bio tako blizu Suncu prije nekih 50.000 godina, prema izračunima astronoma. Njegov skorašnji dolazak bit će znanstvenicima prigoda da bolja razumiju sastav kometa, posebno zahvaljujući svemirskom teleskopu  James Webb.

Nedavno otkriveni komet C/2022 E3, približit će se idućih tjedana Suncu, prvi put nakon 50.000 godina i možda će biti vidljiv golim okom krajem siječnja.

Maleni komet sastavljen od stjenja i leda, promjera oko 1 km, otkriven je u ožujku 2022. programom Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) koji se koristi teleskopom Samuel-Oschin u Opservatriju Palomar u Kaliforniji. Otkriven je dok je prolazio orbitom Jupitera, a sada se kreće prema Suncu i postići će svoj perihel, svoju točku najbližu Suncu 12. siječnja, prema izračunima astronoma.

Kada se komet približi Suncu, led u njegovoj jezgri topi se i prelazi u dug veo prašine koji reflektira Sunčevu svjetlost. Taj blistavi veo trebao bi se moći promatrati sa Zemlje. 

Komet će najviše zablistati "kada bude najbliže Zemlji", kaže Thomas Prince, profesor fizike na Tehnološkom institutu  Kalifornije koji radi za program ZTF. Pojava će ipak biti manje spektakularna nego pri prolasku kometa Hale-Bopp 1997., ili Neowise 2020. koji su mnogo veći. 

Promatranje će biti moguće dobrim dalekozorom, a možda i golim okom dijelom noći, ako ne bude previše mjesečine i onečišćenja svjetlošću. Očekuje se da će najbolja prilika biti vikend 21. i 22. siječnja te tjedan koji će slijediti. U tom razdoblju komet će proći između Malog i Velikog medvjeda prije nego utone u južnu hemisferu i krene u zakutke Sunčeva sustava što je vjerojatno njegova kolijevka. 

Ledeni posjetitelj zadnji je put bio tako blizu Suncu prije nekih 50.000 godina, prema izračunima astronoma. Njegov skorašnji dolazak bit će znanstvenicima prigoda da bolja razumiju sastav kometa, posebno zahvaljujući svemirskom teleskopu  James Webb.

Nedavno otkriveni komet C/2022 E3, približit će se idućih tjedana Suncu, prvi put nakon 50.000 godina i možda će biti vidljiv golim okom krajem siječnja.

Maleni komet sastavljen od stjenja i leda, promjera oko 1 km, otkriven je u ožujku 2022. programom Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) koji se koristi teleskopom Samuel-Oschin u Opservatriju Palomar u Kaliforniji. Otkriven je dok je prolazio orbitom Jupitera, a sada se kreće prema Suncu i postići će svoj perihel, svoju točku najbližu Suncu 12. siječnja, prema izračunima astronoma.

Kada se komet približi Suncu, led u njegovoj jezgri topi se i prelazi u dug veo prašine koji reflektira Sunčevu svjetlost. Taj blistavi veo trebao bi se moći promatrati sa Zemlje. 

Komet će najviše zablistati "kada bude najbliže Zemlji",...
