Ujedinjeni Narodi objavili su novo iscrpno istraživanje o postojanju preko 850 tisuća vrsta životinjskih virusa koji bi mogli prijeći sa sisavaca i letećih životinja na čovjeka, prenosi Gizmodo. Desetljeće u koje ulazimo je ono u kojem divljeg svijeta više nema, ne postoji nijedno mjesto na zemlji gdje ljudi nisu bili ili na koje nisu utjecali. Međutim ti procesi idu i u obrnutom smjeru, a mogućnost da ljudi 'ulove' životinjske viruse samo je jedna od negativnih posljedica koju osjećamo.

Uništavanje okoliša poput raščišćavanja zemljišta, krčenja šuma, klimatskih promjena, intenzivne poljoprivredne djelatnosti i trgovine divljim životinjama dovodi ljude u bliži kontakt s njima. Životinje nose mikrobe koji se mogu prenijeti na ljude tijekom tih susreta, a pretpostavlja se da se nešto nalik tome dogodilo u Kini te da je tako nastao Covid-19. Slični virusi nađeni su kod šišmiša zbog čega se vrlo brzo počelo sumnjati da su ljudi tako došli prvi put s njim u kontakt.

UN istraživanje upozorava da ako ljudi žele spriječiti ponavljanje ovog scenarija moraju se prestati odnositi prema prirodi na način koji to trenutno čine.

“Bez preventivnih strategija, pandemije će se pojavljivati češće, širiti se brže, ubiti više ljudi i utjecati na globalno gospodarstvo s razornijim utjecajem nego ikad prije,” kaže se u istraživanju.

Svake godine oko pet novih bolesti prijeđe na čovjeka, svaka od njih ima pandemijski potencijal. Neke od najopasnijih koje su imale najveći utjecaj su AIDS koji je izvorno imala čimpanza, lajmska bolest koju i dalje najviše šire krpelji, a ne toliko ljudi među sobom ili ebola koju je prvi imao šišmiš.

Prevencija kroz zaštitu bioraznolikosti još uvijek nije metoda da se spriječe novi takvi slučajevi već se oslanjamo na znanost koja će riješiti posljedice. Međutim koronavirus nam je jasno pokazao da naši dosezi na tom području nisu neograničeni, a dok čekamo na cjepivo urušavaju se ekonomije, ljudi umiru ili im se kvaliteta života značajno pogoršava.

Prijedlozi UN-a kako ovo riješiti su brojni i uklapaju se u širu ekološku hitnost ako želimo spriječiti i veliko ekološke katastrofe te ideje o stvaranju globalne pravednosti. Trebalo bi povećati međunarodnu suradnju u preveniranju pandemije; provesti politiku integralne brige o ljudskom zdravlju, zdravlju životinja i okolišu na razini svijeta; smanjiti zemljišta namijenjena poljoprivredi i stočarstvu te širiti zaštićena područja za divlje životinje smanjenjem domaćih kroz veće poreze na meso; povećati kontrolu kod ilegalne i bolje regulirati legalnu trgovinu divljim životinjama.

Neopisivo važno trenutno je i mijenjati generalnu društvenu svijest. Eksponencijalni rast potrošnje, koji su često pokretale razvijene zemlje, doveo je do opetovane pojave bolesti u manje razvijenim zemalja u kojima je svjetska proizvodnja većine dobara. BDP treba zamijeniti drugim faktorima, shvatiti da je svijet jedan i da relokacija proizvodnje utječe ekološki i na područja na zapadu iz kojih su prebačene tvornice te da treba djelovati vrlo brzo, ako već i sada za neke stvari nije nepovratno kasno.

Ujedinjeni Narodi objavili su novo iscrpno istraživanje o postojanju preko 850 tisuća vrsta životinjskih virusa koji bi mogli prijeći sa sisavaca i letećih životinja na čovjeka, prenosi Gizmodo. Desetljeće u koje ulazimo je ono u kojem divljeg svijeta više nema, ne postoji nijedno mjesto na zemlji gdje ljudi nisu bili ili na koje nisu utjecali. Međutim ti procesi idu i u obrnutom smjeru, a mogućnost da ljudi 'ulove' životinjske viruse samo je jedna od negativnih posljedica koju osjećamo.

Uništavanje okoliša poput raščišćavanja zemljišta, krčenja šuma, klimatskih promjena, intenzivne poljoprivredne djelatnosti i trgovine divljim životinjama dovodi ljude u bliži kontakt s njima. Životinje nose mikrobe koji se mogu prenijeti na ljude tijekom tih susreta, a pretpostavlja se da se nešto nalik tome dogodilo u Kini te da je tako nastao Covid-19. Slični virusi nađeni su kod šišmiša zbog čega se vrlo brzo počelo sumnjati da su ljudi tako došli prvi put s njim u kontakt.

UN istraživanje upozorava da ako ljudi žele spriječiti ponavljanje ovog scenarija moraju se prestati odnositi prema prirodi na način koji to trenutno čine.

“Bez preventivnih strategija, pandemije će se pojavljivati češće, širiti se brže, ubiti više ljudi i utjecati na globalno gospodarstvo s razornijim utjecajem nego ikad prije,” kaže se u istraživanju.

Svake godine oko pet novih bolesti prijeđe na čovjeka, svaka od njih ima pandemijski potencijal. Neke od najopasnijih koje su imale najveći utjecaj su AIDS koji je izvorno imala čimpanza, lajmska bolest koju i dalje najviše šire krpelji, a ne toliko ljudi među sobom ili ebola koju je prvi imao šišmiš.

Prevencija kroz zaštitu bioraznolikosti još uvijek nije metoda da se spriječe novi takvi slučajevi već se oslanjamo na znanost koja će riješiti posljedice. Međutim koronavirus nam je jasno pokazao da naši dosezi na tom području nisu neograničeni, a dok čekamo na cjepivo urušavaju se ekonomije, ljudi umiru ili im se kvaliteta života značajno pogoršava.

Prijedlozi UN-a kako ovo riješiti su brojni i uklapaju se u širu ekološku hitnost ako želimo spriječiti i veliko ekološke katastrofe te ideje o stvaranju globalne pravednosti. Trebalo bi povećati međunarodnu suradnju u preveniranju pandemije; provesti politiku integralne brige o ljudskom zdravlju, zdravlju životinja i okolišu na razini svijeta; smanjiti zemljišta namijenjena poljoprivredi i stočarstvu te širiti zaštićena područja za divlje životinje smanjenjem domaćih kroz veće poreze na meso; povećati kontrolu kod ilegalne i bolje regulirati legalnu trgovinu divljim životinjama.

Neopisivo važno trenutno je i mijenjati generalnu društvenu svijest. Eksponencijalni rast potrošnje, koji su često pokretale razvijene zemlje, doveo je do opetovane pojave bolesti u manje razvijenim zemalja u kojima je svjetska proizvodnja većine dobara. BDP treba zamijeniti drugim faktorima, shvatiti da je svijet jedan i da relokacija proizvodnje utječe ekološki i na područja na zapadu iz kojih su prebačene tvornice te da treba djelovati vrlo brzo, ako već i sada za neke stvari nije nepovratno kasno.

Ujedinjeni Narodi objavili su novo iscrpno istraživanje o postojanju preko 850 tisuća vrsta životinjskih virusa koji bi mogli prijeći sa sisavaca i letećih životinja na čovjeka, prenosi Gizmodo. Desetljeće u koje ulazimo je ono u kojem divljeg svijeta više nema, ne postoji nijedno mjesto na zemlji gdje ljudi nisu bili ili na koje nisu utjecali. Međutim ti procesi idu i u obrnutom smjeru, a mogućnost da ljudi 'ulove' životinjske viruse samo je jedna od negativnih posljedica koju osjećamo.

Uništavanje okoliša poput raščišćavanja zemljišta, krčenja šuma, klimatskih promjena, intenzivne poljoprivredne djelatnosti i trgovine divljim životinjama dovodi ljude u bliži kontakt s njima. Životinje nose mikrobe koji se mogu prenijeti na ljude tijekom tih susreta, a...
