Kada je na početku II. svjetskog rada Velika Britanija organizirala zračni napad na Njemačku, Adolfa Hitlera to je ozbiljno zabrinulo. Da bi se obranio od moguće katastrofe počeo je diljem Njemačke i zemalja koje je osvajao graditi ogromne tornjeve u kojima bi se on i njegovi najbliži suradnici mogli sakriti.

Nazvani Flak, ogromni brutalistički tornjevi dosezali su visinu do 70 metara, a zidovi su im bili debeli tri metra. U njima se moglo sakriti ukupno do 15 tisuća ljudi, a sadržavali su i kompletno opremljene bolnice.

Osim tri glavna tornja u Berlinu, sagrađeno ih je još pet. Dva su izgrađena u Hamburgu, a tri u Beču. Njihove manje verzije, niže od 40 metara su se mogle naći i u Frankfurtu i Stuttgartu. Flakovi su postali Hitlerova opsesija pa je čak i sam pokušao napraviti nacrte za njihovu izgradnju.

Nakon pada nacističke Njemačke i tijekom bombardiranja, Flakovi su dobrim dijelom uništeni, ali su se neki ipak uspjeli očuvati, a danas imaju novu namjenu.

Najpoznatiji toranj, Flakturm V. nalazi se u Beču, a u njemu se od 1957. nalazi Haus des Meeres (Kuća mora), impresivni javni akvariji koji se odlično uklopio u to betonsko zdanje. 

Hamburški Flakturm IV. donedavno je bio noćni klub, a danas se radi na tome da postane luksuzni hotel. U nekima se rade hortikulturalni eksperimenti, a turisti u Berlinu posjećuju ostatke Flaktruma III.

Kada je na početku II. svjetskog rada Velika Britanija organizirala zračni napad na Njemačku, Adolfa Hitlera to je ozbiljno zabrinulo. Da bi se obranio od moguće katastrofe počeo je diljem Njemačke i zemalja koje je osvajao graditi ogromne tornjeve u kojima bi se on i njegovi najbliži suradnici mogli sakriti.

Nazvani Flak, ogromni brutalistički tornjevi dosezali su visinu do 70 metara, a zidovi su im bili debeli tri metra. U njima se moglo sakriti ukupno do 15 tisuća ljudi, a sadržavali su i kompletno opremljene bolnice.

Osim tri glavna tornja u Berlinu, sagrađeno ih je još pet. Dva su izgrađena u Hamburgu, a tri u Beču. Njihove manje verzije, niže od 40 metara su se mogle naći i u Frankfurtu i Stuttgartu. Flakovi su postali Hitlerova opsesija pa je čak i sam pokušao napraviti nacrte za njihovu izgradnju.

Nakon pada nacističke Njemačke i tijekom bombardiranja, Flakovi su dobrim dijelom uništeni, ali su se neki ipak uspjeli očuvati, a danas imaju novu namjenu.

Najpoznatiji toranj, Flakturm V. nalazi se u Beču, a u njemu se od 1957. nalazi Haus des Meeres (Kuća mora), impresivni javni akvariji koji se odlično uklopio u to betonsko zdanje. 

Hamburški Flakturm IV. donedavno je bio noćni klub, a danas se radi na tome da postane luksuzni hotel. U nekima se rade hortikulturalni eksperimenti, a turisti u Berlinu posjećuju ostatke Flaktruma III.

Kada je na početku II. svjetskog rada Velika Britanija organizirala zračni napad na Njemačku, Adolfa Hitlera to je ozbiljno zabrinulo. Da bi se obranio od moguće katastrofe počeo je diljem Njemačke i zemalja koje je osvajao graditi ogromne tornjeve u kojima bi se on i njegovi najbliži suradnici mogli sakriti.

Nazvani Flak, ogromni brutalistički tornjevi dosezali su visinu do 70 metara, a zidovi su im bili debeli tri metra. U njima se moglo sakriti ukupno do 15 tisuća ljudi, a sadržavali su i kompletno opremljene bolnice. 

Osim tri glavna tornja u Berlinu, sagrađeno ih je još pet. Dva su izgrađena u Hamburgu, a tri u Beču. Njihove manje verzije, niže od 40 metara su se mogle naći i u Frankfurtu i Stuttgartu. Flakovi su postali Hitlerova...
