U jeku novih napada na Marka Zuckerberga zbog poražavajuće malih napora u rješavanju problema sigurnosti korisnika, za razliku od Instagrama i Facebooka, WhatsApp prolazi jako "lišo". Povjerenje koje je ovoj messenger usluzi priskrbilo najveći broj mjesečnih korisnika na svijetu, čak dvije milijarde, temeljeno je na "ent-to-end" enkripciji uvedenoj 2016. Ona nam omogućava da poruke koje šaljemo budu šifrirane i da ih mogu pročitati samo strane među kojima se dijele. Usprkos uvriježenome mišljenju kako smo zbog toga sigurni, postoje nezanemarive mane WhatsAppa zbog kojih bi trebalo uzeti u obzir i korištenje nekih drugih mreža, piše Vice.

WHATSAPP ŽELI PRISTUP VAŠIM KONTAKTIMA

U pravilu postoji opcija i možemo birati hoćemo li s aplikacijom podijeliti adresar svojih brojeva, međutim to gotovo u pravilu svi uvijek čine jer ni ne čitaju na što sve pristaju. WA tada uzima podatke i onih kontakata koji uopće nisu njihovi korisnici.

Ako pak odbijete pristup, više nećete vidjeti nijedno ime osobe koja vam šalje poruke, čak ni ako vam je regularno spremljen njezin broj, što je vrlo nezgodno za platformu za dopisivanje. Već vidimo potencijalno neugodne situacije. Isto tako, iz nepoznatog razloga ne možete upućivati pozive ni prvi započinjati grupne poruke, što izgleda isključivo kao kazna.

Tada većina ljudi poklekne i dopusti WhatsAppu pristup misleći da time zapravo ništa ne gube. Osim što ste time podijelili broj svoga ginekologa, majke i dobavljača trave, podijelili ste ime, telefonski broj, e-adresu, pa čak i kućnu adresu svih osoba čiji broj ste ikad upisali u mobitel bez vašeg ili njihova pristanka.

Facebook zbog reklama želi prikupiti što više podataka, a pristajući na uvjete korištenja dajemo WhatsAppu pravo na dijeljenje informacija s drugim Facebook tvrtkama i povezivanje našega telefonskog broja s našim Facebook računima. Uz to, Mark Zuckerberg ima plan spojiti WhatsApp, Instagram DM-ove i Facebook Messenger u jedan messenger, kojeg se u svjetlu novih saznanja opravdano bojimo.

WHATSAPP ZNA ŠTO RADITE

WhatsApp možda ne zna sadržaj poruka koje šaljete, ali prikuplja gotovo sve ostalo. Dok ste unutar aplikacije, WA ne zna koji je sadržaj razgovora koje vodite, ali zna koliko dugo traju, s kim razgovarate i gdje se pritom nalazite. Ako promijenite sigurnosne postavke, mogu vidjeti i vašu sliku, zadnji put kada ste bili online i status.

Dosta ljudi ove bi podatke okarakteriziralo kao nevažne i sporedne, ali upravo oni otkrivaju obrasce ponašanja koje zatim društvene mreže koriste na nama samima bez da o tome išta znamo.

WHATSAPP ŠALJE UPITE O UKIDANJU ENKRIPCIJE BEZ DA TO NAGLASE

Odnedavno svako toliko dobivamo poruke u kojima nas WhatsApp dušobrižnički pita na koliko dugo želimo da čuvaju naše poruke na iCloudu ili Googleovu serveru. Nadamo se da odgovarate da ne želite nikakvu sigurnosnu kopiju jer se u protivnom uništava enkripcija zbog koje nam je WA toliko važan. Takve sigurnosne kopije skladište vašu povijest razgovora na Appleovim i Googleovim "nebeskim" serverima bez end-to-end šifriranja.

WHATSAPP MOŽE PODIJELITI SVOJE INFORMACIJE S POLICIJOM

Izazvalo bi veliki skandal i PR katastrofu kada bi WhatsApp surađivao s policijom, što je vjerojatno glavni razlog zašto to neće učiniti. A onda opet, ni namještanje izbora u državama diljem svijeta nije baš marketing o kojem sanja svaka tvrtka pa se Facebook svejedno dobro drži.

Ipak ono što najviše plaši jest da WA, jer smo mu za to dali dopuštenje, ima pravo u određenim situacijama predati podatke "osobama mjerodavnima u provođenju zakona". Najbolji za nas su oni podaci koji nikada nisu skupljeni, a ne vjera, koja se može ispostaviti naivnom, da platforma koja prikuplja naše podatke neće te podatke nikada nikome proslijediti.

WHATSAPP KOD NIJE JAVAN

Nedavno se pri optužbama spram TikToka dosta govorilo o njihovu algoritmu koji je izazvao zabrinutost jer uzima previše podataka i suviše je sugestivan. WhatsApp, s druge strane, ne želi otkriti kako je točno programiran. Može zvučati kao da je riječ o sigurnosnoj politici kojom štite sebe, ali pokazalo se da su najsigurniji oni softveri kada su njihovi kodovi objavljeni javno, tako da ne može biti o tome riječ.

ŠTO UČINITI

Glavni problem kod promjene platforme za dopisivanje bio bi taj što više-manje svi koriste WA. Međutim, postoji niz boljih i pritom ne ističemo Telegram, već Signal, Threema, Wickr ili Wire. Vaši podaci tu bi bili posve sigurni i barem s jednom grupom ljudi možete pokušati odabrati neki od njih i prebaciti se samo za međusobne razgovore, a upravo takvi postupci mogu pokrenuti lavinu promjena.

U jeku novih napada na Marka Zuckerberga zbog poražavajuće malih napora u rješavanju problema sigurnosti korisnika, za razliku od Instagrama i Facebooka, WhatsApp prolazi jako "lišo". Povjerenje koje je ovoj messenger usluzi priskrbilo najveći broj mjesečnih korisnika na svijetu, čak dvije milijarde, temeljeno je na "ent-to-end" enkripciji uvedenoj 2016. Ona nam omogućava da poruke koje šaljemo budu šifrirane i da ih mogu pročitati samo strane među kojima se dijele. Usprkos uvriježenome mišljenju kako smo zbog toga sigurni, postoje nezanemarive mane WhatsAppa zbog kojih bi trebalo uzeti u obzir i korištenje nekih drugih mreža, piše Vice.

WHATSAPP ŽELI PRISTUP VAŠIM KONTAKTIMA

U pravilu postoji opcija i možemo birati hoćemo li s aplikacijom podijeliti adresar svojih brojeva, međutim to gotovo u pravilu svi uvijek čine jer ni ne čitaju na što sve pristaju. WA tada uzima podatke i onih kontakata koji uopće nisu njihovi korisnici.

Ako pak odbijete pristup, više nećete vidjeti nijedno ime osobe koja vam šalje poruke, čak ni ako vam je regularno spremljen njezin broj, što je vrlo nezgodno za platformu za dopisivanje. Već vidimo potencijalno neugodne situacije. Isto tako, iz nepoznatog razloga ne možete upućivati pozive ni prvi započinjati grupne poruke, što izgleda isključivo kao kazna.

Tada većina ljudi poklekne i dopusti WhatsAppu pristup misleći da time zapravo ništa ne gube. Osim što ste time podijelili broj svoga ginekologa, majke i dobavljača trave, podijelili ste ime, telefonski broj, e-adresu, pa čak i kućnu adresu svih osoba čiji broj ste ikad upisali u mobitel bez vašeg ili njihova pristanka.

Facebook zbog reklama želi prikupiti što više podataka, a pristajući na uvjete korištenja dajemo WhatsAppu pravo na dijeljenje informacija s drugim Facebook tvrtkama i povezivanje našega telefonskog broja s našim Facebook računima. Uz to, Mark Zuckerberg ima plan spojiti WhatsApp, Instagram DM-ove i Facebook Messenger u jedan messenger, kojeg se u svjetlu novih saznanja opravdano bojimo.

WHATSAPP ZNA ŠTO RADITE

WhatsApp možda ne zna sadržaj poruka koje šaljete, ali prikuplja gotovo sve ostalo. Dok ste unutar aplikacije, WA ne zna koji je sadržaj razgovora koje vodite, ali zna koliko dugo traju, s kim razgovarate i gdje se pritom nalazite. Ako promijenite sigurnosne postavke, mogu vidjeti i vašu sliku, zadnji put kada ste bili online i status.

Dosta ljudi ove bi podatke okarakteriziralo kao nevažne i sporedne, ali upravo oni otkrivaju obrasce ponašanja koje zatim društvene mreže koriste na nama samima bez da o tome išta znamo.

WHATSAPP ŠALJE UPITE O UKIDANJU ENKRIPCIJE BEZ DA TO NAGLASE

Odnedavno svako toliko dobivamo poruke u kojima nas WhatsApp dušobrižnički pita na koliko dugo želimo da čuvaju naše poruke na iCloudu ili Googleovu serveru. Nadamo se da odgovarate da ne želite nikakvu sigurnosnu kopiju jer se u protivnom uništava enkripcija zbog koje nam je WA toliko važan. Takve sigurnosne kopije skladište vašu povijest razgovora na Appleovim i Googleovim "nebeskim" serverima bez end-to-end šifriranja.

WHATSAPP MOŽE PODIJELITI SVOJE INFORMACIJE S POLICIJOM

Izazvalo bi veliki skandal i PR katastrofu kada bi WhatsApp surađivao s policijom, što je vjerojatno glavni razlog zašto to neće učiniti. A onda opet, ni namještanje izbora u državama diljem svijeta nije baš marketing o kojem sanja svaka tvrtka pa se Facebook svejedno dobro drži.

Ipak ono što najviše plaši jest da WA, jer smo mu za to dali dopuštenje, ima pravo u određenim situacijama predati podatke "osobama mjerodavnima u provođenju zakona". Najbolji za nas su oni podaci koji nikada nisu skupljeni, a ne vjera, koja se može ispostaviti naivnom, da platforma koja prikuplja naše podatke neće te podatke nikada nikome proslijediti.

WHATSAPP KOD NIJE JAVAN

Nedavno se pri optužbama spram TikToka dosta govorilo o njihovu algoritmu koji je izazvao zabrinutost jer uzima previše podataka i suviše je sugestivan. WhatsApp, s druge strane, ne želi otkriti kako je točno programiran. Može zvučati kao da je riječ o sigurnosnoj politici kojom štite sebe, ali pokazalo se da su najsigurniji oni softveri kada su njihovi kodovi objavljeni javno, tako da ne može biti o tome riječ.

ŠTO UČINITI

Glavni problem kod promjene platforme za dopisivanje bio bi taj što više-manje svi koriste WA. Međutim, postoji niz boljih i pritom ne ističemo Telegram, već Signal, Threema, Wickr ili Wire. Vaši podaci tu bi bili posve sigurni i barem s jednom grupom ljudi možete pokušati odabrati neki od njih i prebaciti se samo za međusobne razgovore, a upravo takvi postupci mogu pokrenuti lavinu promjena.

U jeku novih napada na Marka Zuckerberga zbog poražavajuće malih napora u rješavanju problema sigurnosti korisnika, za razliku od Instagrama i Facebooka, WhatsApp prolazi jako "lišo". Povjerenje koje je ovoj messenger usluzi priskrbilo najveći broj mjesečnih korisnika na svijetu, čak dvije milijarde, temeljeno je na "ent-to-end" enkripciji uvedenoj 2016. Ona nam omogućava da poruke koje šaljemo budu šifrirane i da ih mogu pročitati samo strane među kojima se dijele. Usprkos uvriježenome mišljenju kako smo zbog toga sigurni, postoje nezanemarive mane WhatsAppa zbog kojih bi trebalo uzeti u obzir i korištenje nekih drugih mreža, piše Vice.
