Prvopredviđeni naslov filma "Lady Bloodfight" ("Žestoka dama") dosta toga otkriva za fanove borilačkih filmova. Radni naslov je bio "Lady Bloodsport", ali se od njega odustalo valjda da ne bude preočita aluzija na "Krvavi sport", stari, dobri kultni klasik "martial arts" kinematografije s Jean-Claudeom Van Dammeom u glavnoj ulozi.
U jednu ruku, to je šteta. "Lady Bloodfight" je definitivno zgodno zamišljen kao ženski "Bloodsport" u razdoblju kad su stare franšize počele mijenjati spol ("Ghostbusters", "Ocean's Eleven", "Terminator", "Star Wars" itd.). Pazite priču u najkraćim crticama...

Misteriozni stoljetni turnir zvan "Kumite" održava se u Hong Kongu i na njega želi upasti američka fajterica Jane (Amy Johnston) koja radi kao konobarica i "zna se braniti". Janein motiv je dvostruk i osobne naravi: ona želi doznati što joj se dogodilo s ocem nakon što se prijavio na turnir i nije se nikad vratio kući.
Bio bi štos da je Van Damme njezin otac budući da je igrao Amerikanca koji se natjecao na "Kumiteu" davne 1988. u "Krvavom sportu", ali to se nažalost nije dogodilo. Da jest, "Žestoka dama" bi bila uzdignuta na nešto veću razinu kao i nedavni nastavci "Kickboxera" s Van Dammeom u sporednoj ulozi, barem kad se on nalazi u kadru.
Možda bi se tako na sličan način resetirala "Bloodsport" franšiza. Međutim, kako Van Damme nije u "Lady Bloodfight" prisutan tijelom, a bogami ni duhom, ustvari je sreća što film nije naslovljen "Lady Bloodsport". Jer, "Žestoka dama" poružnjuje ljepotu "Krvavog sporta", pa makar u kadru mahom defilirale ljepotice koje jedna drugu podbadaju riječima "bez uvrede, ali izgledaš više kao manekenka nego borac".
Spiritualnost je, pak, svedena na upute našoj junakinji od strane trenerice Shu, "Mrs. Miyagi" (Muriel Hofmann), koja je "tražila zmaja, a Bog joj je naizgled poslao Barbiku". Upute glase "diši, fokusiraj se, udari" dok Mrs. Miyagi pokušava načiniti da Jane od "divlje ulične mačke" postane "naoštreno oružje sa svrhom" kako bi omjerila snage s učenicom (Jenny Wu) nekadašnje Shuine protivnice (Kathy Wu) i bila "oštrica njezine osvete".
Ovo je film za eru krvavo-brutalnih MMA borbi i fanove nastavaka "Kickboxera" u kojima je glavnu riječ vodio nekarizmatični Alain Moussi, nipošto originala s udarajućom karizmom Van Dammea ili njegovog "Bloodsporta". Redatelj Chris Nahon ne uspijeva dosegnuti ni borilačku koreografiju svoga "Zmajeva poljupca" s Jetom Lijem iz 2002., kamoli "Krvavog sporta" i "Kickboxera".
Koreografiju potpisuje Xin Xin Xiong (Van Dammeov "Double Team", Seagalov "Half Past Dead"), ali je neće načiniti umjetničkom kao što je bila u spomenutim "martial arts" filmovima ili "Tigru i zmaju", iako je imao za to prilike s obzirom na raznolike borilačke vještine (wudan stil protiv taekwondoa, shaolin vs. krav maga...).
Akcijske scene su ubrzane i kaotično (iz)rezane u montaži da se jedva vidi tko tu koga i (za)što, osim u onim rijetkim trenucima kad Nahon uspori zbivanja do "slow motiona" lišena krasote Van Dammeovih filmova. Ljepota ovdje ne postoji, samo ružnoća u "fast motionu" zbog koje(g) je teško procijeniti jesu li glumice istinske maherice.
Čini se da Johnston zna znanje, konačno radila je kao kaskaderka na hollywoodskim blockbusterima poput drugog "Kapetana Amerike" ("Vojnik zime"), "Deadpoola" i "Odreda otpisanih". No, opet, kadrovi su prefrenetični da čovjek može uživati i diviti se njezinim udarcima.
"Budi brza i okrutna", geslo je filma o turniru koji ima i rundu s oružjem kako bi negativka, kvazi-ženski Chong Li i Tong Po, mogla zaklati (!) prijateljicu heroine pred njezinim očima i probuditi u njoj osvetničke porive jer više, očito, nije dovoljno "samo" slomiti kičmu junakovu bratu ("Kickboxer") ili mu frenda poslati u bolnicu s teškim ozljedama ("Krvavi sport").
Na putu osvete Johnston nastupa kao ženski Moussi s malo i nimalo karizme. Slabiji nastup nije isključivo njezina krivica računajući loše napisane i već stoput izgovorene rečenice iz scenarija koje joj prelaze preko usana, ali Johnston zasad, uz dužno poštovanje, nema "ono nešto" da bi bila iduća akcijska "girl power" zvijezda. Prvopredviđeni naslov filma "Lady Bloodfight" ("Žestoka dama") dosta toga otkriva za fanove borilačkih filmova. Radni naslov je bio "Lady Bloodsport", ali se od njega odustalo valjda da ne bude preočita aluzija na "Krvavi sport", stari, dobri kultni klasik "martial arts" kinematografije s Jean-Claudeom Van Dammeom u glavnoj ulozi.
U jednu ruku, to je šteta. "Lady Bloodfight" je definitivno zgodno zamišljen kao ženski "Bloodsport" u razdoblju kad su stare franšize počele mijenjati spol ("Ghostbusters", "Ocean's Eleven", "Terminator", "Star Wars" itd.). Pazite priču u najkraćim crticama...

Misteriozni stoljetni turnir zvan "Kumite" održava se u Hong Kongu i na njega želi upasti američka fajterica Jane (Amy Johnston) koja radi kao konobarica i "zna se braniti". Janein motiv je dvostruk i osobne naravi: ona želi doznati što joj se dogodilo s ocem nakon što se prijavio na turnir i nije se nikad vratio kući.
Bio bi štos da je Van Damme njezin otac budući da je igrao Amerikanca koji se natjecao na "Kumiteu" davne 1988. u "Krvavom sportu", ali to se nažalost nije dogodilo. Da jest, "Žestoka dama" bi bila uzdignuta na nešto veću razinu kao i nedavni nastavci "Kickboxera" s Van Dammeom u sporednoj ulozi, barem kad se on nalazi u kadru.
Možda bi se tako na sličan način resetirala "Bloodsport" franšiza. Međutim, kako Van Damme nije u "Lady Bloodfight" prisutan tijelom, a bogami ni duhom, ustvari je sreća što film nije naslovljen "Lady Bloodsport". Jer, "Žestoka dama" poružnjuje ljepotu "Krvavog sporta", pa makar u kadru mahom defilirale ljepotice koje jedna drugu podbadaju riječima "bez uvrede, ali izgledaš više kao manekenka nego borac".
Spiritualnost je, pak, svedena na upute našoj junakinji od strane trenerice Shu, "Mrs. Miyagi" (Muriel Hofmann), koja je "tražila zmaja, a Bog joj je naizgled poslao Barbiku". Upute glase "diši, fokusiraj se, udari" dok Mrs. Miyagi pokušava načiniti da Jane od "divlje ulične mačke" postane "naoštreno oružje sa svrhom" kako bi omjerila snage s učenicom (Jenny Wu) nekadašnje Shuine protivnice (Kathy Wu) i bila "oštrica njezine osvete".
Ovo je film za eru krvavo-brutalnih MMA borbi i fanove nastavaka "Kickboxera" u kojima je glavnu riječ vodio nekarizmatični Alain Moussi, nipošto originala s udarajućom karizmom Van Dammea ili njegovog "Bloodsporta". Redatelj Chris Nahon ne uspijeva dosegnuti ni borilačku koreografiju svoga "Zmajeva poljupca" s Jetom Lijem iz 2002., kamoli "Krvavog sporta" i "Kickboxera".
Koreografiju potpisuje Xin Xin Xiong (Van Dammeov "Double Team", Seagalov "Half Past Dead"), ali je neće načiniti umjetničkom kao što je bila u spomenutim "martial arts" filmovima ili "Tigru i zmaju", iako je imao za to prilike s obzirom na raznolike borilačke vještine (wudan stil protiv taekwondoa, shaolin vs. krav maga...).
Akcijske scene su ubrzane i kaotično (iz)rezane u montaži da se jedva vidi tko tu koga i (za)što, osim u onim rijetkim trenucima kad Nahon uspori zbivanja do "slow motiona" lišena krasote Van Dammeovih filmova. Ljepota ovdje ne postoji, samo ružnoća u "fast motionu" zbog koje(g) je teško procijeniti jesu li glumice istinske maherice.
Čini se da Johnston zna znanje, konačno radila je kao kaskaderka na hollywoodskim blockbusterima poput drugog "Kapetana Amerike" ("Vojnik zime"), "Deadpoola" i "Odreda otpisanih". No, opet, kadrovi su prefrenetični da čovjek može uživati i diviti se njezinim udarcima.
"Budi brza i okrutna", geslo je filma o turniru koji ima i rundu s oružjem kako bi negativka, kvazi-ženski Chong Li i Tong Po, mogla zaklati (!) prijateljicu heroine pred njezinim očima i probuditi u njoj osvetničke porive jer više, očito, nije dovoljno "samo" slomiti kičmu junakovu bratu ("Kickboxer") ili mu frenda poslati u bolnicu s teškim ozljedama ("Krvavi sport").
Na putu osvete Johnston nastupa kao ženski Moussi s malo i nimalo karizme. Slabiji nastup nije isključivo njezina krivica računajući loše napisane i već stoput izgovorene rečenice iz scenarija koje joj prelaze preko usana, ali Johnston zasad, uz dužno poštovanje, nema "ono nešto" da bi bila iduća akcijska "girl power" zvijezda.
