Nevolje s porezom su, navodno, iza Nicolasa Cagea. Nedavno smo čitali vijesti o tome da se glumac oporavio od financijskog kraha, no tko zna, možda i nije. Jer, kako drukčije objasniti svu silu slabih do loših filmova koje ludi Cage periodički izbacuje na godišnjoj bazi.

Cage je sveprisutan i u Hrvatskoj, gdje je nedavno snimao novi film. U domaćim kinima upravo ga gledamo u SF akciji "Jiu Jitsu", a u "online" videotekama se može rentati njegov akcijski film "Predatorski instinkt". Naravno, zna Cage još uvijek ubosti nešto više nego dobro ("Mandy", "Color Out Of Space"), ali "Jiu Jitsu" i posebice "Primal" to, nažalost, nisu.

Da stvar bude gora, "Predatorski instinkt" je imao potencijala da bude nešto ludo i nezaboravno s Cageom u ulozi ekscentričnog (ta kakvog drugog?!) lovca na egzotične životinje Franka Walsha.

On ih "lovi za sebe" i onda prodaje zoološkim vrtovima. Franka upoznajemo na čeki u lovu na bijelog jaguara u južnoameričkoj džungli.

Skučio se na stablu, čita časopis o nekretninama i pokušava pušiti kubanku "cool" kao Schwarzenegger u "Predatoru". Pojava jaguara signalizira kakav će film biti. To je najlošije računalno animirana životinja unutar CGI bestijarija iz recentne povijesti kinematografije, slabije čak i od lavica iz nedavne "Plaćenice" s Megan Fox.

Beštiju Frank na koncu uspijeva uloviti, ponosan što je "one of a kind" i što ne voli ljude, baš poput njega, iako, kao, nije ljudožder. Nakon predstavljanja lika kojemu nedostaje istinske "cageovske" ludosti da podigne film, potentni zaplet polako kuca na vrata.

Frank se ukrcava na teretni brod zajedno s jaguarom i još nekim opasnim životinjama poput zmija, a to je isti brod kojim pripadnici US Marshalls tima, bez Tommyja Leeja Jonesa ("Bjegunac"), prevoze zatvorenika, profesionalnog ubojicu Lofflera (Kevin Durand), u prisutnosti neurologinje (Famke Janssen; "X-Men") i odvjetnika (Michael Imperioli; "Sopranosi").

Loffler ide na suđenje za počinjene zločine protiv čovječnosti u Južnoj Americi, makar se brani da je to radio za američku vladu. Jasno, Loffler će pobjeći iz uzništva i terorizirati putnike/posadu broda nasred oceana, kao i životinje koje je oslobodio iz kaveza, s naglaskom na bijelog jaguara i dvije zmije, "otrovne kao vrag".

Nagledaniji filmofili će prepoznati da je premisa svojevrsni "Umri muški" na brodu sa zvijerima, odnosno životinjski amalgam "Putnika 57", "Opsade", Cageova "Con Aira", "Dubokog modrog mora" i "Zmija u avionu", uz začin "Kad jaganjci utihnu" i "Pijeva života".

Nešto ovako "visokokonceptualno" u devedesetima bi vjerojatno producirao Jerry Bruckheimer ("Hrid", "Con Air") u okviru nekog hollywoodskog "major" studija, također s Cageom u glavnoj ulozi i budžetom blizu 100 milijuna dolara, možda s Michaelom Bayem, Simonom Westom ili Dominicom Senom na redateljskoj stolici.

Danas kad Cage većinski životari u direktno-na-video produkciji, "Primal" nije koštao niti deset milijuna dolara, a režirao ga je Nick Powell koji je s glumcem prije šest-sedam godina snimio "Outcast". Ni deset milijuna dolara nije malo za uzbudljiv akcić ako redatelj zna što radi ("Racija"), ali Powell režira akciju iznimno traljavo i neuzbudljivo.

Možemo se opkladiti da je budžet horora "REC: Genesis", četvrtog dijela španjolskog serijala sa zombijima na brodu daleko od obale, bio manji u odnosu na "Primal", no Paco Plaza je svejedno snimio napet komad žanrovske kinematografije opipljivih tenzija i sočno režiranih akcijskih scena.

Možda bi sve bilo malčice podnošljivije da je Powell izbacio životinje iz scenarija, time i očajnu kompjutersku animaciju koja bode oči svaki put kad se ukaže bijeli jaguar, odnosno da je film realizirao kao standardni akcijski "die hard" triler na izoliranoj lokaciji s ugrozom ljudske, ne životinjske prirode.

Ni tako film ne bi dosegnuo slično koncipirane akcije iz Cageove zlatne faze ("The Rock", "Con Air"), ali barem bi bili pošteđeni rudimentarnog CGI-ja. Instinkt nam govori da "Predatorski instinkt" nije takoreći ni za najveće Cageove fanove. No, ako se baš odlučite pogledati ga, predlažemo da se opskrbite žesticama. Svaki put kad Cage kaže "cage" ("kavez"), strusite jednu i možda pripiti uspijete malčice guštati.

Više sreće s tigrovima?

Cage bi trebao glumiti u igranoj verziji popularnog Netflixovog dokumentarca "Tiger King". Valjda će imati više sreće s tigrovima nego jaguarima.

Nevolje s porezom su, navodno, iza Nicolasa Cagea. Nedavno smo čitali vijesti o tome da se glumac oporavio od financijskog kraha, no tko zna, možda i nije. Jer, kako drukčije objasniti svu silu slabih do loših filmova koje ludi Cage periodički izbacuje na godišnjoj bazi.

Cage je sveprisutan i u Hrvatskoj, gdje je nedavno snimao novi film. U domaćim kinima upravo ga gledamo u SF akciji "Jiu Jitsu", a u "online" videotekama se može rentati njegov akcijski film "Predatorski instinkt". Naravno, zna Cage još uvijek ubosti nešto više nego dobro ("Mandy", "Color Out Of Space"), ali "Jiu Jitsu" i posebice "Primal" to, nažalost, nisu.

Da stvar bude gora, "Predatorski instinkt" je imao potencijala da bude nešto ludo i nezaboravno s Cageom u ulozi ekscentričnog (ta kakvog drugog?!) lovca na egzotične životinje Franka Walsha.

On ih "lovi za sebe" i onda prodaje zoološkim vrtovima. Franka upoznajemo na čeki u lovu na bijelog jaguara u južnoameričkoj džungli.

Skučio se na stablu, čita časopis o nekretninama i pokušava pušiti kubanku "cool" kao Schwarzenegger u "Predatoru". Pojava jaguara signalizira kakav će film biti. To je najlošije računalno animirana životinja unutar CGI bestijarija iz recentne povijesti kinematografije, slabije čak i od lavica iz nedavne "Plaćenice" s Megan Fox.

Beštiju Frank na koncu uspijeva uloviti, ponosan što je "one of a kind" i što ne voli ljude, baš poput njega, iako, kao, nije ljudožder. Nakon predstavljanja lika kojemu nedostaje istinske "cageovske" ludosti da podigne film, potentni zaplet polako kuca na vrata.

Frank se ukrcava na teretni brod zajedno s jaguarom i još nekim opasnim životinjama poput zmija, a to je isti brod kojim pripadnici US Marshalls tima, bez Tommyja Leeja Jonesa ("Bjegunac"), prevoze zatvorenika, profesionalnog ubojicu Lofflera (Kevin Durand), u prisutnosti neurologinje (Famke Janssen; "X-Men") i odvjetnika (Michael Imperioli; "Sopranosi").

Loffler ide na suđenje za počinjene zločine protiv čovječnosti u Južnoj Americi, makar se brani da je to radio za američku vladu. Jasno, Loffler će pobjeći iz uzništva i terorizirati putnike/posadu broda nasred oceana, kao i životinje koje je oslobodio iz kaveza, s naglaskom na bijelog jaguara i dvije zmije, "otrovne kao vrag".

Nagledaniji filmofili će prepoznati da je premisa svojevrsni "Umri muški" na brodu sa zvijerima, odnosno životinjski amalgam "Putnika 57", "Opsade", Cageova "Con Aira", "Dubokog modrog mora" i "Zmija u avionu", uz začin "Kad jaganjci utihnu" i "Pijeva života".

Nešto ovako "visokokonceptualno" u devedesetima bi vjerojatno producirao Jerry Bruckheimer ("Hrid", "Con Air") u okviru nekog hollywoodskog "major" studija, također s Cageom u glavnoj ulozi i budžetom blizu 100 milijuna dolara, možda s Michaelom Bayem, Simonom Westom ili Dominicom Senom na redateljskoj stolici.

Danas kad Cage većinski životari u direktno-na-video produkciji, "Primal" nije koštao niti deset milijuna dolara, a režirao ga je Nick Powell koji je s glumcem prije šest-sedam godina snimio "Outcast". Ni deset milijuna dolara nije malo za uzbudljiv akcić ako redatelj zna što radi ("Racija"), ali Powell režira akciju iznimno traljavo i neuzbudljivo.

Možemo se opkladiti da je budžet horora "REC: Genesis", četvrtog dijela španjolskog serijala sa zombijima na brodu daleko od obale, bio manji u odnosu na "Primal", no Paco Plaza je svejedno snimio napet komad žanrovske kinematografije opipljivih tenzija i sočno režiranih akcijskih scena.

Možda bi sve bilo malčice podnošljivije da je Powell izbacio životinje iz scenarija, time i očajnu kompjutersku animaciju koja bode oči svaki put kad se ukaže bijeli jaguar, odnosno da je film realizirao kao standardni akcijski "die hard" triler na izoliranoj lokaciji s ugrozom ljudske, ne životinjske prirode.

Ni tako film ne bi dosegnuo slično koncipirane akcije iz Cageove zlatne faze ("The Rock", "Con Air"), ali barem bi bili pošteđeni rudimentarnog CGI-ja. Instinkt nam govori da "Predatorski instinkt" nije takoreći ni za najveće Cageove fanove. No, ako se baš odlučite pogledati ga, predlažemo da se opskrbite žesticama. Svaki put kad Cage kaže "cage" ("kavez"), strusite jednu i možda pripiti uspijete malčice guštati.

Više sreće s tigrovima?

Cage bi trebao glumiti u igranoj verziji popularnog Netflixovog dokumentarca "Tiger King". Valjda će imati više sreće s tigrovima nego jaguarima.
