Trenutak za (filmsku) povijest dogodio se ove jeseni. Hollywood je predstavio prvu studijsku romantičnu komediju fokusiranu na dva gay muškarca – “Burazi” (“Bros”). Harry je do sada sretao Sally u varijacijama na rom-com klasik Roba Reinera i Nore Ephron. Sad je Harry sreo drugog Harryja u prvom homoseksualnom rom-comu “mainstream” produkcije, nastalom u okviru hollywoodskog studija Universal Pictures.

Naravno, bilo je već američkih studijskih i/li srednjostrujaških projekata gay/LGBTQ+ tematike, kao što su “Planina Brokeback”, “Samac”, “Carol”, “Skrivena ljubav”, “Moonlight” i “Šape pasje”, ali oni su njegovali “indie” štih i nisu bili romantične komedije, nego drame u duhu mahom europskih festivalskih filmova poput “Adelina života”, “Ljeta za Sangaile”, “Portreta djevojke koja izgara”, “Svijeta koji dolazi” i “Amonita”.

Jednako tako, u njima su “straight” glumci glumili “gayeve”, kao i u “S ljubavlju, Simon”, prvoj studijskoj tinejdžerskoj komediji gay prefiksa iz 2018., preteči “Buraza”.

“Love Simon” napravio je malu revoluciju u “mainstream” percepciji gay likova: otad naovamo snimila se i serijska verzija tog filma, gledali smo i “Grijeh”, plus nedavno je Netflix pustio seriju “Ponovno samac” kao gay verziju “Seksa i grada”.

”Burazi” su logičan korak naprijed, uz važan dodatak da praktički sve važnije likove u filmu glume pripadnici LGBTQ zajednice, počevši od para Bobbyja i Aarona u tumačenju Billyja Eichnera i Lukea Macfarlanea, kao i da taj par, dakle, nije na margini kadra, kako je dosad znao biti u rom-com žanru, nego u njegovu središtu.

Eichner je koautor priče zajedno s redateljem Nicholasom Stollerom, iskusnim kad su u pitanju rom-comovi (“Preboljeti Sarah Marshall”, “Vječni zaručnici”) i komedije općenito (“Susjedi iz pakla”, “To je rock ‘n’ roll”, “Susjedi iz pakla 2”), a producent je također romantično-komičarski hitmejker Judd Apatow (“Zalomilo se”, “Zohan je zakon”, “Djeveruše”, “Prelomilo se u četrdesetima”, “Kaos u glavi”, “Kralj Staten Islanda”).

S takvom ekipom očekivalo se da “Bros” postane hit, no to se nije dogodilo i film je zaradio samo 11 milijuna dolara na američkim kinoblagajnama. Studijske romantične komedije nisu toliko popularne u kinima kao prije pandemije (“Suludo bogati Azijci”, “Last Christmas”) jer su za vrijeme korone češće imale premijere na streaming servisu (“Palm Springs”, “The Lovebirds”, “Galerija slomljenih srca”...).

Ipak, počele su se vraćati na velike ekrane (“Ništa od Božića ove godine”, “Igra ljubavi i mržnje”, “Knjiga ljubavi”, “Bez signala”), a tri ovogodišnja rom-coma ipak su postali kinohitovi (“Ti si taj”, “Izgubljeni grad”, “Karta za raj”). Nažalost, “Burazi” nisu slijedili box-office trag zadnjih triju romantičnih komedija, iako su bolji od njih i većine nabrojenih rom-comova, tj. zaslužuju drugo mjesto iza “Palm Springsa”. To je Eichner pripisao homofobiji.

Izgleda da za ovakav film još nije došlo vrijeme, tj. da je ovo romantična komedija ispred vremena. Međutim, svejedno je pohvalno da je “Bros” probio led homofobije i napravio subverziju unutar rom-com žanra, ako već nije nanovo ispisao njegova pravila. “Burazi” su klasična moderna romantična komedija (montaža pupanja romanse uključena, kao i upoznavanje familije) koja preuzima ono najbolje od žanra, ali centralnom paru daje isti spol.

Film je jedan od onih dobrih rom-comova, pametan i metafilmski samosvjestan, pun sočnih dijaloga (“Mi smo imali AIDS, a mlađi gayevi imaju ‘Glee’...”, “gay veze su danas kao klaunovsko auto”) i prljavog jezika, te scena seksa kakve se slični “mainstream” projekti uglavnom ustručavaju prikazati s hetero parovima.

Glavni lik Bobby, voditelj podcasta i direktor prvog nacionalnog LGBTQ povijesnog muzeja, govori da je dobio ponudu da napiše scenarij romantične “gay” komedije koju bi i “straight” muškarci gledali s djevojkama, znači jednako kao što je njegov tumač Eichner napisao “Bros”.

”Ja nisam prava osoba za romantičnu komediju”, zaključi Bobby s dozom autoironije, a i tumač Aarona je samoironičan: Macfarlane je glumio u Hallmarkovim božićno-romantičnim TV filmovima s kojima se “Burazi” šale (“Hallheart predstavlja prvi biseksualni film...”) i rade gay inverziju s naslovima poput “Christmas With Either”, “A Holly Poly Christmas” itd.

Eichner jest prava osoba za romantičnu komediju. On poznaje žanr i njegov se scenarij klanja klasicima poput “Kad je Harry sreo Sally” i “Imaš poštu”. Od prvoga “Burazi” preuzimaju par do kojeg nam je stalo, dijaloški humor i romantične boje jeseni, a potonji film je na TV-u u momentu kad se Bobby dopisuje s nekim tipom s Grindra i on od njega traži “dick pic”.

”Meg Ryan ne bi slala sliku svojih genitalija”, opaža Bobby, koji dugo nije u vezi jer “ne vjeruje tim ljudima (gayevima). “Mi smo napaljeni, sebični i glupi”, kaže on bez dlake na jeziku. Ipak, to će se promijeniti nakon što upozna Aarona: iako je on prilično drukčiji od njega, zajedničko im je da obojici nije do veze, ali odluče pokušati biti “emocionalno nedostupni zajedno”, pri čemu se emotivno sve snažnije povezuju u scenama autentične kemije i karakterizacije likova.

”Kad gayevi glume gayeve, to nije gluma”, zaključuju Bobby i Aaron nakon što se dotaknu “straight” glumaca u lovu na Oscare s ulogama “gay” kauboja. Primjerice, u sceni kad Aaron govori o tome kako je oduvijek sanjao da radi kao čokolatijer, ali nije se odvažio na to jer je to bilo “peškasto” u očima okoline dok se nije “autao”, iz njega kao da progovara Macfarlane.

Glumac se, moguće, također odrekao nekih snova zbog toga što je gay, a zbog nesigurnosti obojice njihova veza ima uspone i padove. No, “Bros” uspijeva biti univerzalan u ilustraciji poteškoća s kakvima se suočava svatko tko traži i pronalazi ljubav u modernom svijetu. Ljubav je ista za sve parove, različit je samo njezin doživljaj i izričaj.

Svjetska kinodistribucija nakon američke

Film je krenuo u svjetska (i hrvatska) kina koncem listopada, mjesec dana nakon američke kinodistribucije. Bit će zanimljivo vidjeti hoće li bolje proći.

Trenutak za (filmsku) povijest dogodio se ove jeseni. Hollywood je predstavio prvu studijsku romantičnu komediju fokusiranu na dva gay muškarca – “Burazi” (“Bros”). Harry je do sada sretao Sally u varijacijama na rom-com klasik Roba Reinera i Nore Ephron. Sad je Harry sreo drugog Harryja u prvom homoseksualnom rom-comu “mainstream” produkcije, nastalom u okviru hollywoodskog studija Universal Pictures.

Naravno, bilo je već američkih studijskih i/li srednjostrujaških projekata gay/LGBTQ+ tematike, kao što su “Planina Brokeback”, “Samac”, “Carol”, “Skrivena ljubav”, “Moonlight” i “Šape pasje”, ali oni su njegovali “indie” štih i nisu bili romantične komedije, nego drame u duhu mahom europskih festivalskih filmova poput “Adelina života”, “Ljeta za Sangaile”, “Portreta djevojke koja izgara”, “Svijeta koji dolazi” i “Amonita”.

Jednako tako, u njima su “straight” glumci glumili “gayeve”, kao i u “S ljubavlju, Simon”, prvoj studijskoj tinejdžerskoj komediji gay prefiksa iz 2018., preteči “Buraza”.

“Love Simon” napravio je malu revoluciju u “mainstream” percepciji gay likova: otad naovamo snimila se i serijska verzija tog filma, gledali smo i “Grijeh”, plus nedavno je Netflix pustio seriju “Ponovno samac” kao gay verziju “Seksa i grada”.

”Burazi” su logičan korak naprijed, uz važan dodatak da praktički sve važnije likove u filmu glume pripadnici LGBTQ zajednice, počevši od para Bobbyja i Aarona u tumačenju Billyja Eichnera i Lukea Macfarlanea, kao i da taj par, dakle, nije na margini kadra, kako je dosad znao biti u rom-com žanru, nego u njegovu središtu.

Eichner je koautor priče zajedno s redateljem Nicholasom Stollerom, iskusnim kad su u pitanju rom-comovi (“Preboljeti Sarah Marshall”, “Vječni zaručnici”) i komedije općenito (“Susjedi iz pakla”, “To je rock ‘n’ roll”, “Susjedi iz pakla 2”), a producent je također romantično-komičarski hitmejker Judd Apatow (“Zalomilo se”, “Zohan je zakon”, “Djeveruše”, “Prelomilo se u četrdesetima”, “Kaos u glavi”, “Kralj Staten Islanda”).

S takvom ekipom očekivalo se da “Bros” postane hit, no to se nije dogodilo i film je zaradio samo 11 milijuna dolara na američkim kinoblagajnama. Studijske romantične komedije nisu toliko popularne u kinima kao prije pandemije (“Suludo bogati Azijci”, “Last Christmas”) jer su za vrijeme korone češće imale premijere na streaming servisu (“Palm Springs”, “The Lovebirds”, “Galerija slomljenih srca”...).

Ipak, počele su se vraćati na velike ekrane (“Ništa od Božića ove godine”, “Igra ljubavi i mržnje”, “Knjiga ljubavi”, “Bez signala”), a tri ovogodišnja rom-coma ipak su postali kinohitovi (“Ti si taj”, “Izgubljeni grad”, “Karta za raj”). Nažalost, “Burazi” nisu slijedili box-office trag zadnjih triju romantičnih komedija, iako su bolji od njih i većine nabrojenih rom-comova, tj. zaslužuju drugo mjesto iza “Palm Springsa”. To je Eichner pripisao homofobiji.

Izgleda da za ovakav film još nije došlo vrijeme, tj. da je ovo romantična komedija ispred vremena. Međutim, svejedno je pohvalno da je “Bros” probio led homofobije i napravio subverziju unutar rom-com žanra, ako već nije nanovo ispisao njegova pravila. “Burazi” su klasična moderna romantična komedija (montaža pupanja romanse uključena, kao i upoznavanje familije) koja preuzima ono najbolje od žanra, ali centralnom paru daje isti spol.

Film je jedan od onih dobrih rom-comova, pametan i metafilmski samosvjestan, pun sočnih dijaloga (“Mi smo imali AIDS, a mlađi gayevi imaju ‘Glee’...”, “gay veze su danas kao klaunovsko auto”) i prljavog jezika, te scena seksa kakve se slični “mainstream” projekti uglavnom ustručavaju prikazati s hetero parovima.

Glavni lik Bobby, voditelj podcasta i direktor prvog nacionalnog LGBTQ povijesnog muzeja, govori da je dobio ponudu da napiše scenarij romantične “gay” komedije koju bi i “straight” muškarci gledali s djevojkama, znači jednako kao što je njegov tumač Eichner napisao “Bros”.

”Ja nisam prava osoba za romantičnu komediju”, zaključi Bobby s dozom autoironije, a i tumač Aarona je samoironičan: Macfarlane je glumio u Hallmarkovim božićno-romantičnim TV filmovima s kojima se “Burazi” šale (“Hallheart predstavlja prvi biseksualni film...”) i rade gay inverziju s naslovima poput “Christmas With Either”, “A Holly Poly Christmas” itd.

Eichner jest prava osoba za romantičnu komediju. On poznaje žanr i njegov se scenarij klanja klasicima poput “Kad je Harry sreo Sally” i “Imaš poštu”. Od prvoga “Burazi” preuzimaju par do kojeg nam je stalo, dijaloški humor i romantične boje jeseni, a potonji film je na TV-u u momentu kad se Bobby dopisuje s nekim tipom s Grindra i on od njega traži “dick pic”.

”Meg Ryan ne bi slala sliku svojih genitalija”, opaža Bobby, koji dugo nije u vezi jer “ne vjeruje tim ljudima (gayevima). “Mi smo napaljeni, sebični i glupi”, kaže on bez dlake na jeziku. Ipak, to će se promijeniti nakon što upozna Aarona: iako je on prilično drukčiji od njega, zajedničko im je da obojici nije do veze, ali odluče pokušati biti “emocionalno nedostupni zajedno”, pri čemu se emotivno sve snažnije povezuju u scenama autentične kemije i karakterizacije likova.

”Kad gayevi glume gayeve, to nije gluma”, zaključuju Bobby i Aaron nakon što se dotaknu “straight” glumaca u lovu na Oscare s ulogama “gay” kauboja. Primjerice, u sceni kad Aaron govori o tome kako je oduvijek sanjao da radi kao čokolatijer, ali nije se odvažio na to jer je to bilo “peškasto” u očima okoline dok se nije “autao”, iz njega kao da progovara Macfarlane.

Glumac se, moguće, također odrekao nekih snova zbog toga što je gay, a zbog nesigurnosti obojice njihova veza ima uspone i padove. No, “Bros” uspijeva biti univerzalan u ilustraciji poteškoća s kakvima se suočava svatko tko traži i pronalazi ljubav u modernom svijetu. Ljubav je ista za sve parove, različit je samo njezin doživljaj i izričaj.

Svjetska kinodistribucija nakon američke

Film je krenuo u svjetska (i hrvatska) kina koncem listopada, mjesec dana nakon američke kinodistribucije. Bit će zanimljivo vidjeti hoće li bolje proći.
