Američki State Department odobrio je potencijalnu prodaju Kosovu protutenkovskih projektila Javelin za procijenjenih 75 milijuna dolara, priopćio je Pentagon u četvrtak.

Predložena prodaja poboljšat će dugoročne kapacitete Kosova za obranu suvereniteta i teritorijalnog integriteta, napisali su iz Pentagona. Pritom, Kosovo je zatražilo kupnju 246 projektila Javelin, a američki Kongres je o mogućoj prodaji obaviješten u četvrtak.

"Projektili Javelin pokazali su učinkovitost u Ukrajini, pa čak i ranije, te pokrivaju naše potrebe da budemo spremni braniti svoju zemlju", izjavio je kosovski ministar obrane Ejup Maqedonci za Reuters.

Poručio je i da će Kosovo biti spremno odgovoriti svakome tko mu ugrozi suverenitet, ali također i spremno pridonijeti svjetskom miru u sklopu zajedničkih međunarodnih operacija.

Reuters podsjeća da je Kosovo proglasilo neovisnost od Srbije 2008. godine, da ga je priznalo više od 110 zemalja, da veliku većinu od 1,8 milijuna stanovnika čine etnički Albanci, dok oko 50.000 Srba na sjeveru zemlje odbija državnost Kosova i često se sukobljava s kosovskom policijom, pri čemu su se nemiri pojačali krajem prošle godine.

Američki State Department odobrio je potencijalnu prodaju Kosovu protutenkovskih projektila Javelin za procijenjenih 75 milijuna dolara, priopćio je Pentagon u četvrtak.

Predložena prodaja poboljšat će dugoročne kapacitete Kosova za obranu suvereniteta i teritorijalnog integriteta, napisali su iz Pentagona. Pritom, Kosovo je zatražilo kupnju 246 projektila Javelin, a američki Kongres je o mogućoj prodaji obaviješten u četvrtak.

"Projektili Javelin pokazali su učinkovitost u Ukrajini, pa čak i ranije, te pokrivaju naše potrebe da budemo spremni braniti svoju zemlju", izjavio je kosovski ministar obrane Ejup Maqedonci za Reuters.

Poručio je i da će Kosovo biti spremno odgovoriti svakome tko mu ugrozi suverenitet, ali također i spremno pridonijeti svjetskom miru u sklopu zajedničkih međunarodnih operacija.

Reuters podsjeća da je Kosovo proglasilo neovisnost od Srbije 2008. godine, da ga je priznalo više od 110 zemalja, da veliku većinu od 1,8 milijuna stanovnika čine etnički Albanci, dok oko 50.000 Srba na sjeveru zemlje odbija državnost Kosova i često se sukobljava s kosovskom policijom, pri čemu su se nemiri pojačali krajem prošle godine.

Američki State Department odobrio je potencijalnu prodaju Kosovu protutenkovskih projektila Javelin za procijenjenih 75 milijuna dolara, priopćio je Pentagon u četvrtak.

Predložena prodaja poboljšat će dugoročne kapacitete Kosova za obranu suvereniteta i teritorijalnog integriteta, napisali su iz Pentagona. Pritom, Kosovo je zatražilo kupnju 246 projektila Javelin, a američki Kongres je o mogućoj prodaji obaviješten u četvrtak.

"Projektili Javelin pokazali su učinkovitost u Ukrajini, pa čak i ranije, te pokrivaju naše potrebe da budemo spremni braniti svoju zemlju", izjavio je kosovski ministar obrane Ejup Maqedonci za Reuters.

Poručio je i da će Kosovo biti spremno odgovoriti svakome tko mu ugrozi suverenitet, ali također i spremno pridonijeti svjetskom miru u sklopu zajedničkih međunarodnih operacija.

Reuters podsjeća da je Kosovo proglasilo neovisnost od Srbije 2008. godine, da ga je priznalo više od 110 zemalja, da veliku većinu od 1,8 milijuna stanovnika čine etnički Albanci, dok oko 50.000 Srba na sjeveru zemlje odbija državnost Kosova i često se sukobljava s kosovskom policijom, pri čemu su se nemiri pojačali krajem prošle godine.
