Polinezijski predsjednik najavio je na Tahitiju da će se natjecanje u surfanju na Olimpijskim igrama 2024. moći održati na plaži Teahupo‘o, mjesecima u središtu napetosti između vlasti i organizatora Olimpijskih igara i lokalnog stanovništva.

"Rješenje koje smo uspjeli usvojiti omogućuje da se Olimpijske igre održe ovdje, kao i natjecanje Svjetske surf lige", kazao je polinezijski predsjednik Metai Brotherson za AFP zbog ishoda sastanka s ekološkim udrugama.

Zamjena drvenog tornja aluminijskom konstrukcijom za suce već je mjesecima izvor napetosti na Tahitiju.

Tijekom tehničkih testova 1. prosinca, teglenica planirana za postavljanje ovog novog tornja slomila je koralj, zbog čega je polinezijska vlada pauzirala radove.

Ali Moetai Brotherson predstavio je u nedjelju plan rada koji bi trebao rezultirati funkcionalnim tornjem 13. svibnja, nekoliko dana prije nego što se WSL-natjecanje održi na Tahitiju kao generalni test prije Olimpijskih igara u srpnju.

Polinezijski predsjednik bio je oduševljen što je dobio "jednoglasnu podršku svih gradonačelnika, federacije surfanja, pa čak i udruga, sve osim jednog i jedinog surfera, koji misli da predstavlja zajednicu surfanja".​

Polinezijski predsjednik najavio je na Tahitiju da će se natjecanje u surfanju na Olimpijskim igrama 2024. moći održati na plaži Teahupo‘o, mjesecima u središtu napetosti između vlasti i organizatora Olimpijskih igara i lokalnog stanovništva.

"Rješenje koje smo uspjeli usvojiti omogućuje da se Olimpijske igre održe ovdje, kao i natjecanje Svjetske surf lige", kazao je polinezijski predsjednik Metai Brotherson za AFP zbog ishoda sastanka s ekološkim udrugama.

Tijekom tehničkih testova 1. prosinca, teglenica planirana za postavljanje ovog novog tornja slomila je koralj, zbog čega je polinezijska vlada pauzirala radove.

Ali Moetai Brotherson predstavio je u nedjelju plan rada koji bi trebao rezultirati funkcionalnim tornjem 13. svibnja, nekoliko dana prije nego što se WSL-natjecanje održi na Tahitiju kao generalni test prije Olimpijskih igara u srpnju.

Polinezijski predsjednik bio je oduševljen što je dobio "jednoglasnu podršku svih gradonačelnika, federacije surfanja, pa čak i udruga, sve osim jednog i jedinog surfera, koji misli da predstavlja zajednicu surfanja".​
