U Jadranskom moru, dakle ne samo na hrvatskim obalama, zabilježene su tri vrste morskih kornjača: glavata želva (Caretta caretta), zelena želva (Chelonia mydas) i sedmopruga usminjača (Dermochelys coriacea).

Od te tri vrste, glavata želva je najčešća vrsta u Jadranu, a mnogi su je imali sreće i vidjeti.

Što se tiče Jadrana kao staništa kornjača, ovo naše more smatra se jednim od najvažnijih područja za prehranu glavate želve u Mediteranu, ali dosad nije zabilježeno da se bilo koja vrsta mrijesti u Jadranu, već sve jedinke potječu iz centralno-južnog Mediterana.

Primjerice, najveća mrijestilišta glavate želve su na grčkoj, turskoj i ciparskoj obali. U Hrvatskoj do sada nije potvrđeno gniježđenje glavate želve i postojanje njezinih reproduktivnih staništa, ali se, primjerice, istočno područje srednjeg Jadrana smatra vrlo važnim zimskim staništem.

Poznata područja gniježđenja zelene želve su slična glavatoj, uz dodatak područja istočnog Mediterana. Kod nje postoje neke teorije da bi pojedina krajnja južna područja Jadrana mogla biti područja gdje polažu jaja, ali da se to uistinu i događa, nema nikakvih dokaza.

Što se tiče sedmopruge usminjače, za tu vrstu se smatra da i nema mediteranske populacije, već da uglavnom dolazi iz Atlantika, pa stoga nije ni čudno da je ona u Jadranu najrjeđa od sve tri vrste.

U Jadranskom moru, dakle ne samo na hrvatskim obalama, zabilježene su tri vrste morskih kornjača: glavata želva (Caretta caretta), zelena želva (Chelonia mydas) i sedmopruga usminjača (Dermochelys coriacea).

Od te tri vrste, glavata želva je najčešća vrsta u Jadranu, a mnogi su je imali sreće i vidjeti.

Što se tiče Jadrana kao staništa kornjača, ovo naše more smatra se jednim od najvažnijih područja za prehranu glavate želve u Mediteranu, ali dosad nije zabilježeno da se bilo koja vrsta mrijesti u Jadranu, već sve jedinke potječu iz centralno-južnog Mediterana.

Primjerice, najveća mrijestilišta glavate želve su na grčkoj, turskoj i ciparskoj obali. U Hrvatskoj do sada nije potvrđeno gniježđenje glavate želve i postojanje njezinih reproduktivnih staništa, ali se, primjerice, istočno područje srednjeg Jadrana smatra vrlo važnim zimskim staništem.

Poznata područja gniježđenja zelene želve su slična glavatoj, uz dodatak područja istočnog Mediterana. Kod nje postoje neke teorije da bi pojedina krajnja južna područja Jadrana mogla biti područja gdje polažu jaja, ali da se to uistinu i događa, nema nikakvih dokaza.

Što se tiče sedmopruge usminjače, za tu vrstu se smatra da i nema mediteranske populacije, već da uglavnom dolazi iz Atlantika, pa stoga nije ni čudno da je ona u Jadranu najrjeđa od sve tri vrste.

U Jadranskom moru, dakle ne samo na hrvatskim obalama, zabilježene su tri vrste morskih kornjača: glavata želva (Caretta caretta), zelena želva (Chelonia mydas) i sedmopruga usminjača (Dermochelys coriacea).

Od te tri vrste, glavata želva je najčešća vrsta u Jadranu, a mnogi su je imali sreće i vidjeti.

Što se tiče Jadrana kao staništa kornjača, ovo naše more smatra se jednim od najvažnijih područja za prehranu glavate želve u Mediteranu, ali dosad nije zabilježeno da se bilo koja vrsta mrijesti u Jadranu, već sve jedinke potječu iz centralno-južnog Mediterana.

Primjerice, najveća mrijestilišta glavate želve su na grčkoj, turskoj i ciparskoj obali. U Hrvatskoj do sada nije potvrđeno gniježđenje glavate želve i postojanje njezinih reproduktivnih staništa, ali se, primjerice, istočno područje srednjeg Jadrana smatra vrlo važnim zimskim staništem.

Poznata područja gniježđenja zelene želve su slična glavatoj, uz dodatak područja istočnog Mediterana. Kod nje postoje neke teorije da bi pojedina krajnja južna područja Jadrana mogla biti područja gdje polažu jaja, ali da se to uistinu i događa, nema nikakvih dokaza.

Što se tiče sedmopruge usminjače, za tu vrstu se smatra da i nema mediteranske populacije, već da uglavnom dolazi iz Atlantika, pa stoga nije ni čudno da je ona u Jadranu najrjeđa od sve tri vrste.
