Kojim filmom obilježiti desetu godišnjicu smrti redatelja Tonyja Scotta i prisjetiti se jednog od najvećih modernih akcijskih vizualista? U obzir su, dakako, dolazili Scottovi filmovi još neispisanih recenzija. Znači, otpadaju "Top Gun", "Policajac s Beverly Hillsa II", "Prljavi igraju prljavo", "Tjelesna straža", "Domino" i "Otmica metroa 123", čak i "Deja Vu" i "Nezaustavljivi", makar potonja dva nisu tekstualno dostupni "online".

"Prava romansa" je, osobno, ponajbolji film ovog redatelja, ali tu se nekako više ćuti scenarist Quentin Tarantino od Scotta. Da li odabrati Scottov prvijenac "Glad za krvlju" ili možda podcijenjenu "Osvetu"? A "Grimizna plima" i "Fan"? Što je s "Enemy Of The State" i "Spy Game"?

Opcija je bilo puno, ali izbor je nakon dužeg premišljanja na kraju pao na "Dane groma" ("Days Of Thunder", 1990.).

Odabran je jedan od najscottovskijih Scottovih filmova, vrijedan podsjećanja u vrijeme kad je "Top Gun" opet aktualan zahvaljujući nastavku "Top Gun: Maverick". Kakve veze ima "Top Gun" s "Danima groma"? Svakakve.

Iza "Days Of Thunder" stoji isti studio (Paramound Pictures) i isti tim ljudi, od Scotta i producentskog dvojca Don Simpson – Jerry Bruckheimer ("Flashdance", "Zločesti dečki", "Hrid") do zvjezdanog glumca Toma Cruisea. Slično žanrirani film (akcijska drama) praktički se može kvalificirati kao svojevrsni nastavak ili kontinuacija "Top Guna", spušten s neba na trkaću stazu, odnosno prebačen u drugi mačo svijet – svijet automobilističkih utrka.

Umjesto bojnih mlažnjaka i pilota imamo trkaće automobile i vozače utrka, koji također osjećaju potrebu za brzinom, kao što ju je osjećao i sam Scott, samo to verbaliziraju na drukčiji način ("Nagazi na gas!"). Osnovni je zaplet sličan, kao i karakterizacija likova.

Pratimo uspon mladog i talentiranog, ali neobuzdanog i prčevitog "hot shot" pilota, pardon vozača utrka željnog dokazivanja sebi i svima oko sebe. Petea Mitchella, zvanog Maverick, zamjenjuje Cole Trickle. Cole ne skida nogu s gasa i vozi kao kamikaza, slično kako Maverick leti i kako je Scott režirao. I on je (ili zna biti) opasnost za sebe i druge vozače/letače, odnosno "sebičan, lud i uplašen", kako mu kaže liječnica Claire Lewicki (Nicole Kidman u prvoj hollywoodskoj ulozi nakon "Opasnog mora").

Claire je njegova Charlie (Kelly McGillis), zrelija žena koja se ne libi nazvati ga "infantilnim egomanijakom", za razliku od prethodnice, vjerojatno zato što dijaloški živopisniji, humorističniji scenarij ovaj put potpisuje Robert Towne, nagrađen Oscarom za "Kinesku četvrt".

Sličnosti s "Top Gunom", dakle, postoje, ali i razlike, odnosno nadopune ne samo tog filma, nego i prijašnjih Cruiseovih drama. Protagonist ima izrazitijeg mentora Harryja Hoggea, u sočnom tumačenju iskusnijeg glumca Roberta Duvalla, kakvog je Cruise imao uz sebe i u "Kišnom čovjeku" (Dustin Hoffman), koji nastavlja mentorstvo Paula Newmana iz "Boje novca".

Lik oponenta Toma "Icemana" Kazanskog (Val Kilmer) podijeljen je, pak, na dvojicu vozača: stariji Rowdy Burns (Michael Rooker) netko je s kim će se Cole skompati prije odjavne špice, a mlađi Russ Wheeler (Cary Elwes) ima karakterizaciju antagonista, pa i negativca kad zaprijeti da će Colea zabiti u zid, iako se to "zabijanje" može shvatiti seksualno aluzivno, kao i cijeli "mačo" film o muškarcima koji se vrte u krug i jure jedni za drugima.

Međutim, "Dani groma" su, čak i više od "Top Guna", prilagođeni Cruiseu, kojega Scott tretira poput zvijezde, poistovjećujući se s neobuzdanošću i prčevitošću njegova lika u vožnji. Cruise je dobio puni zvjezdani tretman u ovom "Top Gunu" na trkaćoj stazi: scene ulaska zvijezde/junaka u film nalik glumčevu prvom pojavljivanju više uglavnom ne viđamo, dok su u osamdesetima i devedesetima bile sastavni dio zvjezdarenja i junačenja.

"Tko je vozač?", pita se netko očekujući Colea. Kad se Cole motociklom doveze u kadar iz oblaka dima, Scott snima scenu kao da na motociklu pristiže Apolon. Nitko nije na taj akcijsko-kulerski način snimio glumca osim Johna Wooa u "Nemogućoj misiji II", kao što nitko nije snimio ovako seksi film o autoutrkama, ni John Frankenheimer ("Grand Prix"), ni James Mangold ("Izazivač: Le Mans ‘66.").

Tako, ne iznenađuje što je na plakatu "Days Of Thunder" prvi put stajalo samo Cruiseovo prezime, što je dotad na posterima bilo rezervirano za face poput Schwarzeneggera i Stallonea. Jednako kulerski Scott režira i otvaranje filma, snimajući trkaću arenu u zalazak sunca kao da je mitski Kolosej, a vozače utrka, poput Colea i Rowdyja, kao moderne gladijatore koji će se utrkivati i izvan staze u bolničkim kolicima (malo samoironičnog humora) ili u unajmljenim autima.

Gledajući još jednom Scottove uvodne kadrove i njegove hiperkolorne filtre, postaje jasno koliko ovaj izraziti vizualist nedostaje u današnjoj (komercijalnoj) kinematografiji i koliko bi neke filmaše trebalo posjesti ispred njegovih filmova da se uče stilizaciji, kadriranju i osvjetljenju, kreiranju osobitog, autorskog izričaja. Promotrite zeleni neonski filtar u običnoj sceni kad Cole radi CT glave, zasigurno nadahnjujuć Oliveru Stoneu za scenu u ljekarni iz "Rođenih ubojica".

"Dani groma" ekstremno su sinematičan, mišićavo režiran film koji izgleda i zvuči fantastično. Boje i zvukovi eksplodiraju na stazi, sve frca od režijske kinetike, audiovizualnosti i "money shot" kadrova, tipa da Scott jurnjavu na trkaćoj stazi snima kao utrku konjskim zapregama iz "Bena Hura" i usput u drugom planu hvata zrakoplov u polijetanju, kao što je dvije godine poslije Richard Donner uhvatio avion u slijetanju tijekom potjere u "Smrtonosnom oružju 3".

"Vroom-vroom" kinetika je Scottu sve, kao i vizualija: kotači (filma) moraju se okretati, makar oni bolničkih kolica, a boje prštati da se razbije jeftina melodramatika na polovini, kad "Days Of Thunder" ubacuju u nižu brzinu. Ako režija i jest spotovska, "Days Of Thunder" manje izgleda kao dugometražni spot u odnosu na "Top Gun" i Scottov rad s glumcima više je dolazio do izražaja, kao da se redatelj podsvjesno pripremao za "True Romance" i "Crimson Tide".

Ipak, ovo je ponajprije režijski film. "Nijedan automobil neće pobijediti bez vozača", drži Hogge. Ni film bez redatelja. Scott je vozač filma u kojem utrkivanje simbolizira režiranje. "Reci mi, što toliko voliš kod utrka?", pita Claire Colea, a on odgovara: "Brzinu. Da je mogu kontrolirati. Da znam da mogu kontrolirati nešto što je izvan kontrole." Isto je to Scott toliko volio u režiji.

Cruise i Kidman postali par

Legendarni Robert Duvall ("Kum", "Apokalipsa danas") iste je godine glumio i u "Kumu III". Nakon ovog filma Cruise i Kidman postali su hollywoodski par.

Kojim filmom obilježiti desetu godišnjicu smrti redatelja Tonyja Scotta i prisjetiti se jednog od najvećih modernih akcijskih vizualista? U obzir su, dakako, dolazili Scottovi filmovi još neispisanih recenzija. Znači, otpadaju "Top Gun", "Policajac s Beverly Hillsa II", "Prljavi igraju prljavo", "Tjelesna straža", "Domino" i "Otmica metroa 123", čak i "Deja Vu" i "Nezaustavljivi", makar potonja dva nisu tekstualno dostupni "online".

"Prava romansa" je, osobno, ponajbolji film ovog redatelja, ali tu se nekako više ćuti scenarist Quentin Tarantino od Scotta. Da li odabrati Scottov prvijenac "Glad za krvlju" ili možda podcijenjenu "Osvetu"? A "Grimizna plima" i "Fan"? Što je s "Enemy Of The State" i "Spy Game"?

Opcija je bilo puno, ali izbor je nakon dužeg premišljanja na kraju pao na "Dane groma" ("Days Of Thunder", 1990.).

Odabran je jedan od najscottovskijih Scottovih filmova, vrijedan podsjećanja u vrijeme kad je "Top Gun" opet aktualan zahvaljujući nastavku "Top Gun: Maverick". Kakve veze ima "Top Gun" s "Danima groma"? Svakakve.

Iza "Days Of Thunder" stoji isti studio (Paramound Pictures) i isti tim ljudi, od Scotta i producentskog dvojca Don Simpson – Jerry Bruckheimer ("Flashdance", "Zločesti dečki", "Hrid") do zvjezdanog glumca Toma Cruisea. Slično žanrirani film (akcijska drama) praktički se može kvalificirati kao svojevrsni nastavak ili kontinuacija "Top Guna", spušten s neba na trkaću stazu, odnosno prebačen u drugi mačo svijet – svijet automobilističkih utrka.

Umjesto bojnih mlažnjaka i pilota imamo trkaće automobile i vozače utrka, koji također osjećaju potrebu za brzinom, kao što ju je osjećao i sam Scott, samo to verbaliziraju na drukčiji način ("Nagazi na gas!"). Osnovni je zaplet sličan, kao i karakterizacija likova.

Pratimo uspon mladog i talentiranog, ali neobuzdanog i prčevitog "hot shot" pilota, pardon vozača utrka željnog dokazivanja sebi i svima oko sebe. Petea Mitchella, zvanog Maverick, zamjenjuje Cole Trickle. Cole ne skida nogu s gasa i vozi kao kamikaza, slično kako Maverick leti i kako je Scott režirao. I on je (ili zna biti) opasnost za sebe i druge vozače/letače, odnosno "sebičan, lud i uplašen", kako mu kaže liječnica Claire Lewicki (Nicole Kidman u prvoj hollywoodskoj ulozi nakon "Opasnog mora").

Claire je njegova Charlie (Kelly McGillis), zrelija žena koja se ne libi nazvati ga "infantilnim egomanijakom", za razliku od prethodnice, vjerojatno zato što dijaloški živopisniji, humorističniji scenarij ovaj put potpisuje Robert Towne, nagrađen Oscarom za "Kinesku četvrt".

Sličnosti s "Top Gunom", dakle, postoje, ali i razlike, odnosno nadopune ne samo tog filma, nego i prijašnjih Cruiseovih drama. Protagonist ima izrazitijeg mentora Harryja Hoggea, u sočnom tumačenju iskusnijeg glumca Roberta Duvalla, kakvog je Cruise imao uz sebe i u "Kišnom čovjeku" (Dustin Hoffman), koji nastavlja mentorstvo Paula Newmana iz "Boje novca".

Lik oponenta Toma "Icemana" Kazanskog (Val Kilmer) podijeljen je, pak, na dvojicu vozača: stariji Rowdy Burns (Michael Rooker) netko je s kim će se Cole skompati prije odjavne špice, a mlađi Russ Wheeler (Cary Elwes) ima karakterizaciju antagonista, pa i negativca kad zaprijeti da će Colea zabiti u zid, iako se to "zabijanje" može shvatiti seksualno aluzivno, kao i cijeli "mačo" film o muškarcima koji se vrte u krug i jure jedni za drugima.

Međutim, "Dani groma" su, čak i više od "Top Guna", prilagođeni Cruiseu, kojega Scott tretira poput zvijezde, poistovjećujući se s neobuzdanošću i prčevitošću njegova lika u vožnji. Cruise je dobio puni zvjezdani tretman u ovom "Top Gunu" na trkaćoj stazi: scene ulaska zvijezde/junaka u film nalik glumčevu prvom pojavljivanju više uglavnom ne viđamo, dok su u osamdesetima i devedesetima bile sastavni dio zvjezdarenja i junačenja.

"Tko je vozač?", pita se netko očekujući Colea. Kad se Cole motociklom doveze u kadar iz oblaka dima, Scott snima scenu kao da na motociklu pristiže Apolon. Nitko nije na taj akcijsko-kulerski način snimio glumca osim Johna Wooa u "Nemogućoj misiji II", kao što nitko nije snimio ovako seksi film o autoutrkama, ni John Frankenheimer ("Grand Prix"), ni James Mangold ("Izazivač: Le Mans ‘66.").

Tako, ne iznenađuje što je na plakatu "Days Of Thunder" prvi put stajalo samo Cruiseovo prezime, što je dotad na posterima bilo rezervirano za face poput Schwarzeneggera i Stallonea. Jednako kulerski Scott režira i otvaranje filma, snimajući trkaću arenu u zalazak sunca kao da je mitski Kolosej, a vozače utrka, poput Colea i Rowdyja, kao moderne gladijatore koji će se utrkivati i izvan staze u bolničkim kolicima (malo samoironičnog humora) ili u unajmljenim autima.

Gledajući još jednom Scottove uvodne kadrove i njegove hiperkolorne filtre, postaje jasno koliko ovaj izraziti vizualist nedostaje u današnjoj (komercijalnoj) kinematografiji i koliko bi neke filmaše trebalo posjesti ispred njegovih filmova da se uče stilizaciji, kadriranju i osvjetljenju, kreiranju osobitog, autorskog izričaja. Promotrite zeleni neonski filtar u običnoj sceni kad Cole radi CT glave, zasigurno nadahnjujuć Oliveru Stoneu za scenu u ljekarni iz "Rođenih ubojica".

"Dani groma" ekstremno su sinematičan, mišićavo režiran film koji izgleda i zvuči fantastično. Boje i zvukovi eksplodiraju na stazi, sve frca od režijske kinetike, audiovizualnosti i "money shot" kadrova, tipa da Scott jurnjavu na trkaćoj stazi snima kao utrku konjskim zapregama iz "Bena Hura" i usput u drugom planu hvata zrakoplov u polijetanju, kao što je dvije godine poslije Richard Donner uhvatio avion u slijetanju tijekom potjere u "Smrtonosnom oružju 3".

"Vroom-vroom" kinetika je Scottu sve, kao i vizualija: kotači (filma) moraju se okretati, makar oni bolničkih kolica, a boje prštati da se razbije jeftina melodramatika na polovini, kad "Days Of Thunder" ubacuju u nižu brzinu. Ako režija i jest spotovska, "Days Of Thunder" manje izgleda kao dugometražni spot u odnosu na "Top Gun" i Scottov rad s glumcima više je dolazio do izražaja, kao da se redatelj podsvjesno pripremao za "True Romance" i "Crimson Tide".

Ipak, ovo je ponajprije režijski film. "Nijedan automobil neće pobijediti bez vozača", drži Hogge. Ni film bez redatelja. Scott je vozač filma u kojem utrkivanje simbolizira režiranje. "Reci mi, što toliko voliš kod utrka?", pita Claire Colea, a on odgovara: "Brzinu. Da je mogu kontrolirati. Da znam da mogu kontrolirati nešto što je izvan kontrole." Isto je to Scott toliko volio u režiji.

Cruise i Kidman postali par

Legendarni Robert Duvall ("Kum", "Apokalipsa danas") iste je godine glumio i u "Kumu III". Nakon ovog filma Cruise i Kidman postali su hollywoodski par.
