Na dubini od 3000 metara ispod antarktičkog leda pronađena je olupina slavnog broda "Endurance", potonulog prije stotinu godina, na kojemu je plovio jedan od najvećih svjetskih istraživača sir Ernest Shackleton, objavila je ekspedicija koja je krenula u potragu za njim, donosi More.

Jedrenjak s tri jarbola izgubljen je u studenome 1915. pri prvom Shackletonovu neuspješnom pokušaju da kopnom prijeđe Anarktiku.

Svi prethodni pokušaji lociranja drvene olupine duge 144 metra, čiju je lokaciju u brodski dnevnik zapisao kapetan 'Endurancea' Frank Worsley, propali su zbog nehumanih uvjeta koji vladaju u području Weddellova mora.

No misija Endurance22, koju je organizirala zaklada Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust je, koristeći napredna podvodna vozila Sabertooths, opremljena kamerama i skenerima visoke razlučivosti, uspjela precizno locirati olupinu broda.

Snimke su pokazale da je brod u iznimno dobrom stanju, a njegovo ime jasno je vidljivo na krmi. Mensun Bound, jedan od voditelja istraživačke ekspedicije kazao je da su svi članovi "preplavljeni srećom".

"Ovo je daleko najbolje očuvana olupina drvenog broda koju sam ikada dosad vidio. Stoji uspravno, ukopan je u morsko dno, netaknut je i briljantno očuvan", rekao je Bound.

Ekspedicija koju je vodio britanski polarni istraživač John Shears, operaciju je vodila s južnoafričkog ledolomca Agulhas II.

Njezini članovi locirali su 'Endurance" šest kilometara od mjesta koje je zabilježio kapetan Worsley.

Jedrenjak s tri jarbola potonuo je u studenome 1915. tijekom Shackletonova neuspjelog pokušaja da ostvari prvi kopneni prijelaz preko Antarktike, no plan je propao kad je brod potonuo i ostavio slavnog istraživača i članove njegove posade nasukane na antarktičkome ledu. 

Najprije su pješačili preko morskog leda, a potom su isplovili u trima čamcima za spašavanje i stigli do nenaseljenog otoka Elephant, stotinama kilometara udaljenog od najbližeg naselja.

Očajnički nastojeći doći do pomoći, Shackleton je s četiri člana posade u malenom čamcu veslao oko osamsto nautičkih milja (1300 km) da bi na kraju stigao do nepristupačnog otoka South Georgia. Ondje su pronašli pomoć u privremenoj postaji za kitolovce.

U četvrtom pokušaju spašavanja, Shackleton se uspio vratiti i pokupiti ostatak posade s otoka Elephant u kolovozu 1916., dvije godine nakon što je njegova ekspedicija isplovila iz Londona.

Unatoč svemu kroz što su bili primorani proći i šesnaest mjeseci nakon što su ostali bez broda, svi članovi posade "Endurancea", njih 28, preživjeli su brodolom i vratili su se kućama.

Na dubini od 3000 metara ispod antarktičkog leda pronađena je olupina slavnog broda "Endurance", potonulog prije stotinu godina, na kojemu je plovio jedan od najvećih svjetskih istraživača sir Ernest Shackleton, objavila je ekspedicija koja je krenula u potragu za njim, donosi More.

Jedrenjak s tri jarbola izgubljen je u studenome 1915. pri prvom Shackletonovu neuspješnom pokušaju da kopnom prijeđe Anarktiku.

Svi prethodni pokušaji lociranja drvene olupine duge 144 metra, čiju je lokaciju u brodski dnevnik zapisao kapetan 'Endurancea' Frank Worsley, propali su zbog nehumanih uvjeta koji vladaju u području Weddellova mora.

No misija Endurance22, koju je organizirala zaklada Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust je, koristeći napredna podvodna vozila Sabertooths, opremljena kamerama i skenerima visoke razlučivosti, uspjela precizno locirati olupinu broda.

Snimke su pokazale da je brod u iznimno dobrom stanju, a njegovo ime jasno je vidljivo na krmi. Mensun Bound, jedan od voditelja istraživačke ekspedicije kazao je da su svi članovi "preplavljeni srećom".

"Ovo je daleko najbolje očuvana olupina drvenog broda koju sam ikada dosad vidio. Stoji uspravno, ukopan je u morsko dno, netaknut je i briljantno očuvan", rekao je Bound.

Ekspedicija koju je vodio britanski polarni istraživač John Shears, operaciju je vodila s južnoafričkog ledolomca Agulhas II.

Njezini članovi locirali su 'Endurance" šest kilometara od mjesta koje je zabilježio kapetan Worsley.

Jedrenjak s tri jarbola potonuo je u studenome 1915. tijekom Shackletonova neuspjelog pokušaja da ostvari prvi kopneni prijelaz preko Antarktike, no plan je propao kad je brod potonuo i ostavio slavnog istraživača i članove njegove posade nasukane na antarktičkome ledu. 

Najprije su pješačili preko morskog leda, a potom su isplovili u trima čamcima za spašavanje i stigli do nenaseljenog otoka Elephant, stotinama kilometara udaljenog od najbližeg naselja.

Očajnički nastojeći doći do pomoći, Shackleton je s četiri člana posade u malenom čamcu veslao oko osamsto nautičkih milja (1300 km) da bi na kraju stigao do nepristupačnog otoka South Georgia. Ondje su pronašli pomoć u privremenoj postaji za kitolovce.

U četvrtom pokušaju spašavanja, Shackleton se uspio vratiti i pokupiti ostatak posade s otoka Elephant u kolovozu 1916., dvije godine nakon što je njegova ekspedicija isplovila iz Londona.

Unatoč svemu kroz što su bili primorani proći i šesnaest mjeseci nakon što su ostali bez broda, svi članovi posade "Endurancea", njih 28, preživjeli su brodolom i vratili su se kućama.

Na dubini od 3000 metara ispod antarktičkog leda pronađena je olupina slavnog broda "Endurance", potonulog prije stotinu godina, na kojemu je plovio jedan od najvećih svjetskih istraživača sir Ernest Shackleton, objavila je ekspedicija koja je krenula u potragu za njim, donosi More.

Jedrenjak s tri jarbola izgubljen je u studenome 1915. pri prvom Shackletonovu neuspješnom pokušaju da kopnom prijeđe Anarktiku.

Svi prethodni pokušaji lociranja drvene olupine duge 144 metra, čiju je lokaciju u brodski dnevnik zapisao kapetan 'Endurancea' Frank Worsley, propali su zbog nehumanih uvjeta koji vladaju u području Weddellova mora.

No misija Endurance22, koju je organizirala zaklada Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust je, koristeći napredna podvodna vozila Sabertooths, opremljena kamerama i skenerima visoke razlučivosti, uspjela precizno locirati olupinu broda.

Snimke su pokazale da je brod u iznimno dobrom stanju, a njegovo ime jasno je vidljivo na krmi. Mensun Bound, jedan od voditelja istraživačke ekspedicije kazao je da su svi članovi "preplavljeni srećom".

"Ovo je daleko najbolje očuvana olupina drvenog broda koju sam ikada dosad vidio. Stoji uspravno, ukopan je u morsko dno, netaknut je i briljantno očuvan", rekao je Bound.

Ekspedicija koju je vodio britanski polarni istraživač John Shears, operaciju je vodila s južnoafričkog ledolomca Agulhas II.

Njezini članovi locirali su 'Endurance" šest kilometara od mjesta koje je zabilježio kapetan Worsley.

Jedrenjak s tri jarbola potonuo je u studenome 1915. tijekom Shackletonova neuspjelog pokušaja da ostvari prvi kopneni prijelaz preko Antarktike, no plan je propao kad je brod potonuo i ostavio slavnog istraživača i članove njegove posade nasukane na antarktičkome ledu. 

Najprije su pješačili preko morskog leda, a potom su isplovili u trima čamcima za spašavanje i stigli do nenaseljenog otoka Elephant, stotinama kilometara udaljenog od najbližeg naselja.

Očajnički nastojeći doći do pomoći, Shackleton je s četiri člana posade u malenom čamcu veslao oko osamsto nautičkih milja (1300 km) da bi na kraju stigao do nepristupačnog otoka South Georgia. Ondje su pronašli pomoć u privremenoj postaji za kitolovce.

U četvrtom pokušaju spašavanja, Shackleton se uspio vratiti i pokupiti ostatak posade s otoka Elephant u kolovozu 1916., dvije godine nakon što je njegova ekspedicija isplovila iz Londona.

Unatoč svemu kroz što su bili primorani proći i šesnaest mjeseci nakon što su ostali bez broda, svi članovi posade "Endurancea", njih 28, preživjeli su brodolom i vratili su se kućama.
