Danas je Prvi maj, Međunarodni praznik rada. Čestitamo ga svim radnim ljudima i svima kojima taj praznik nešto znači, uz kratki podsjetnik na one koji su najzaslužniji za njegovo postojanje.
Prije svega, hvala kapitalistima 19. stoljeća koji su bezdušno eksploatirali radnike, iscrpljujući ih cjelodnevnim radom i niskim nadnicama, stvarajući time borbenu radničku masu koja će jednog dana izaći na ulice i reći: „Dosta je bilo!”
Hvala američkim radnicima u Chicagu koji su na današnji dan prije 135 godina, 1. svibnja 1886., izašli na ulice i rekli: „Dosta je bilo!”
Hvala im što su se tom prilikom izložili čak i policijskim mecima, a slava onima koji su tada poginuli ili su zbog sudjelovanja u tim demonstracijama obješeni!
Da nije bilo njih, i danas bismo radili šest dana u tjednu po deset i više sati, ukupno najmanje šezdeset sati tjedno, baš kao što su dotad radili oni.
Hvala im što su se izborili za „tri osmice” – osam sati rada, osam sati odmora i osam sati slobodnog izbora (kulturnog uzdizanja). To je maksimalna količina rada koja omogućuje dostojanstveni ljudski i životni balans.
Hvala Drugoj Internacionali koja je na svom Prvom kongresu 1889. odlučila da se 1. maj trajno obilježava u spomen na žrtvu čikaških radnika, što su vremenom usvojili brojni državni parlamenti širom svijeta.
Hvala svima koji su se otada do danas borili za radnička prava, koja se teško stječu, ali se lako ukidaju, osobito kad je na vlasti SDP.
Hvala i onima koji tvrde da danas više nema radnika, da je to iščezla kategorija poput dinosaura. Hvala im jer nam pružaju šansu da iznesemo notornu životnu činjenicu - radnici nisu samo oni koji rade u tvornicama i nose plave trliše, nego su radnici svi koji žive od svog rada i svoje plaće, a da nemaju druge, eksterne izvore prihoda (nasljedstvo, renta, financijske špekulacije...).
Ako više nema toliko industrijskih radnika, to ne znači da je radnička klasa umrla – ona se samo transformirala.
Ukratko: ne samo da i u postindustrijskom i prekarnom svijetu radnici postoje, nego su i u takvom svijetu oni većina.
Konačno, hvala i onima koji tvrde da u liberalnoj demokraciji nema sukoba kapitala i rada, jer nas takve tvrdnje nasmijavaju, a smijeh je ljekovit.
Otuda izvire i odgovor na pitanje treba li i danas slaviti Praznik rada. Jasno da treba, sve dok postoji eksploatacija čovjeka po čovjeku, u kakav god se liberalno-demokratski celofan zamotavala.

Danas je Prvi maj, Međunarodni praznik rada. Čestitamo ga svim radnim ljudima i svima kojima taj praznik nešto znači, uz kratki podsjetnik na one koji su najzaslužniji za njegovo postojanje.
Prije svega, hvala kapitalistima 19. stoljeća koji su bezdušno eksploatirali radnike, iscrpljujući ih cjelodnevnim radom i niskim nadnicama, stvarajući time borbenu radničku masu koja će jednog dana izaći na ulice i reći: „Dosta je bilo!”
Hvala američkim radnicima u Chicagu koji su na današnji dan prije 135 godina, 1. svibnja 1886., izašli na ulice i rekli: „Dosta je bilo!”
Hvala im što su se tom prilikom izložili čak i policijskim mecima, a slava onima koji su tada poginuli ili su zbog sudjelovanja u tim demonstracijama obješeni!
Da nije bilo njih, i danas bismo radili šest dana u tjednu po deset i više sati, ukupno najmanje šezdeset sati tjedno, baš kao što su dotad radili oni.
Hvala im što su se izborili za „tri osmice” – osam sati rada, osam sati odmora i osam sati slobodnog izbora (kulturnog uzdizanja). To je maksimalna količina rada koja omogućuje dostojanstveni ljudski i životni balans.
Hvala Drugoj Internacionali koja je na svom Prvom kongresu 1889. odlučila da se 1. maj trajno obilježava u spomen na žrtvu čikaških radnika, što su vremenom usvojili brojni državni parlamenti širom svijeta.
Hvala svima koji su se otada do danas borili za radnička prava, koja se teško stječu, ali se lako ukidaju, osobito kad je na vlasti SDP.
Hvala i onima koji tvrde da danas više nema radnika, da je to iščezla kategorija poput dinosaura. Hvala im jer nam pružaju šansu da iznesemo notornu životnu činjenicu - radnici nisu samo oni koji rade u tvornicama i nose plave trliše, nego su radnici svi koji žive od svog rada i svoje plaće, a da nemaju druge, eksterne izvore prihoda (nasljedstvo, renta, financijske špekulacije...).
Ako više nema toliko industrijskih radnika, to ne znači da je radnička klasa umrla – ona se samo transformirala.
Ukratko: ne samo da i u postindustrijskom i prekarnom svijetu radnici postoje, nego su i u takvom svijetu oni većina.
Konačno, hvala i onima koji tvrde da u liberalnoj demokraciji nema sukoba kapitala i rada, jer nas takve tvrdnje nasmijavaju, a smijeh je ljekovit.
Otuda izvire i odgovor na pitanje treba li i danas slaviti Praznik rada. Jasno da treba, sve dok postoji eksploatacija čovjeka po čovjeku, u kakav god se liberalno-demokratski celofan zamotavala.
