Najviša temperatura ikad zabilježena na Arktiku od 38 stupnjeva službeno je potvrđena, a s tom viješću su se i oglasila 'zvona za uzbunu' zbog klimatskih promjena na Zemlji. Svjetska meteorološka organizacija (WMO) u utorak je potvrdila ovaj zastrašujući rekord, prijavljen u sibirskom gradu Verkhoyansk 20. lipnja prošle godine. Ta temperatura je 18C viša od prosječnog dnevnog maksimuma za lipanj.

WMO, agencija UN-a, rekla je da ekstremna vrućina 'više priliči Mediteranu nego Arktiku'. Ovo je prvi put da je agencija uključila arktički krug u svoju arhivu ekstremnih vremenskih izvješća. WMO je ustvrdio da je temperatura od 38 Celzijusa izmjerena na meteorološkoj postaji tijekom 'iznimnog i dugotrajnog sibirskog toplinskog vala'.

Prošlogodišnja ekstremna vrućina u regiji pridonijela je širenju šumskih požara, koji su zahvatili šume i tresetišta sjeverne Rusije ispuštajući rekordne količine ugljika. Iako su u ljetnim mjesecima relativno česti, visoke temperature i jak vjetar učinili su požare neobično jakim. Visoke temperature diljem Sibira dovele su i do 'masovnog gubitka morskog leda' i tako odigrale veliku ulogu u 2020. godini koja je bila jedna od tri najtoplije ikad zabilježene, rekao je WMO.

Agencija je poručila da je njezina provjera rekorda u Verkhoyansku istaknula kako su temperature rasle u klimatski važnoj regiji svijeta. 'Ovaj novi arktički rekord jedno je od niza zapažanja prijavljenih WMO arhivi vremenskih i klimatskih ekstrema koja zvone na uzbunu o našoj promjeni klime', rekao je glavni tajnik WMO-a Petteri Taalas za BBC te dodao da otapanje snijega i leda na ruskom Arktiku još pospješuje galopirajuće zagrijavanje. 'Ovo je u velikoj mjeri uzrokovano promjenama radijacijskih svojstava tla i oceana... kada smo imali snježni pokrivač, svojstva zračenja površine su bila vrlo različita kod tamnog tla ili otvorenog mora', rekao je.

WMO je rekao da je dodao arktički krug u svoju arhivu svjetskih vremenskih i klimatskih ekstrema pod novom kategorijom za visoke temperature u regiji. Arktik je jedna od regija s najbržim zagrijavanjem na svijetu, a zagrijava se više od dvostruko brže od globalnog prosjeka. Zatopljenje na Arktiku dovodi do odmrzavanja nekoć trajno smrznutog podzemnog permafrosta. To je alarmantno za znanstvenike jer kako se permafrost otapa, oslobađaju se ugljični dioksid i metan koji su prethodno bili zaključani ispod zemlje. Ovi staklenički plinovi mogu uzrokovati daljnje zagrijavanje i odmrzavanje permafrosta, u začaranom krugu poznatom kao 'pozitivna povratna informacija'.

Više temperature također uzrokuju brže otapanje leda na Arktiku, što dovodi do većeg otjecanja u ocean gdje pridonosi porastu razine mora. Ljudska aktivnost pridonosi porastu svjetskih temperatura, a klimatske promjene sada prijete svakom aspektu ljudskog života. Ostavljeni bez kontrole, ljudi i priroda doživjet će katastrofalno zatopljenje, sa sve većim sušama, većim porastom razine mora i masovnim izumiranjem vrsta.

Najviša temperatura ikad zabilježena na Arktiku od 38 stupnjeva službeno je potvrđena, a s tom viješću su se i oglasila 'zvona za uzbunu' zbog klimatskih promjena na Zemlji. Svjetska meteorološka organizacija (WMO) u utorak je potvrdila ovaj zastrašujući rekord, prijavljen u sibirskom gradu Verkhoyansk 20. lipnja prošle godine. Ta temperatura je 18C viša od prosječnog dnevnog maksimuma za lipanj.

WMO, agencija UN-a, rekla je da ekstremna vrućina 'više priliči Mediteranu nego Arktiku'. Ovo je prvi put da je agencija uključila arktički krug u svoju arhivu ekstremnih vremenskih izvješća. WMO je ustvrdio da je temperatura od 38 Celzijusa izmjerena na meteorološkoj postaji tijekom 'iznimnog i dugotrajnog sibirskog toplinskog vala'.

Prošlogodišnja ekstremna vrućina u regiji pridonijela je širenju šumskih požara, koji su zahvatili šume i tresetišta sjeverne Rusije ispuštajući rekordne količine ugljika. Iako su u ljetnim mjesecima relativno česti, visoke temperature i jak vjetar učinili su požare neobično jakim. Visoke temperature diljem Sibira dovele su i do 'masovnog gubitka morskog leda' i tako odigrale veliku ulogu u 2020. godini koja je bila jedna od tri najtoplije ikad zabilježene, rekao je WMO.

Agencija je poručila da je njezina provjera rekorda u Verkhoyansku istaknula kako su temperature rasle u klimatski važnoj regiji svijeta. 'Ovaj novi arktički rekord jedno je od niza zapažanja prijavljenih WMO arhivi vremenskih i klimatskih ekstrema koja zvone na uzbunu o našoj promjeni klime', rekao je glavni tajnik WMO-a Petteri Taalas za BBC te dodao da otapanje snijega i leda na ruskom Arktiku još pospješuje galopirajuće zagrijavanje. 'Ovo je u velikoj mjeri uzrokovano promjenama radijacijskih svojstava tla i oceana... kada smo imali snježni pokrivač, svojstva zračenja površine su bila vrlo različita kod tamnog tla ili otvorenog mora', rekao je.

WMO je rekao da je dodao arktički krug u svoju arhivu svjetskih vremenskih i klimatskih ekstrema pod novom kategorijom za visoke temperature u regiji. Arktik je jedna od regija s najbržim zagrijavanjem na svijetu, a zagrijava se više od dvostruko brže od globalnog prosjeka. Zatopljenje na Arktiku dovodi do odmrzavanja nekoć trajno smrznutog podzemnog permafrosta. To je alarmantno za znanstvenike jer kako se permafrost otapa, oslobađaju se ugljični dioksid i metan koji su prethodno bili zaključani ispod zemlje. Ovi staklenički plinovi mogu uzrokovati daljnje zagrijavanje i odmrzavanje permafrosta, u začaranom krugu poznatom kao 'pozitivna povratna informacija'.

Više temperature također uzrokuju brže otapanje leda na Arktiku, što dovodi do većeg otjecanja u ocean gdje pridonosi porastu razine mora. Ljudska aktivnost pridonosi porastu svjetskih temperatura, a klimatske promjene sada prijete svakom aspektu ljudskog života. Ostavljeni bez kontrole, ljudi i priroda doživjet će katastrofalno zatopljenje, sa sve većim sušama, većim porastom razine mora i masovnim izumiranjem vrsta.

Najviša temperatura ikad zabilježena na Arktiku od 38 stupnjeva službeno je potvrđena, a s tom viješću su se i oglasila 'zvona za uzbunu' zbog klimatskih promjena na Zemlji. Svjetska meteorološka organizacija (WMO) u utorak je potvrdila ovaj zastrašujući rekord, prijavljen u sibirskom gradu Verkhoyansk 20. lipnja prošle godine. Ta temperatura je 18C viša od prosječnog dnevnog maksimuma za lipanj.

WMO, agencija UN-a, rekla je da ekstremna vrućina 'više priliči Mediteranu nego Arktiku'. Ovo je prvi put da je agencija uključila arktički krug u svoju arhivu ekstremnih vremenskih izvješća. WMO je ustvrdio da je temperatura od 38 Celzijusa izmjerena na meteorološkoj postaji tijekom 'iznimnog i dugotrajnog sibirskog toplinskog vala'.
