Modernim serijama zainteresiranim za tinejdžere nije lako dosegnuti visoku prečku koju je postavila "Euphoria". Pa ipak, ako se od koga moglo očekivati da preskoči prečku "Euforije" ili barem dosegne, to je redatelj Luca Guadagnino, još svjež od izvanrednog filma "Call Me By Your Name". Guadagnino je specijaliziran za audiovizualno taktilno pa i euforično predočavanje osjećaja njegovih likova, od "Rasprskavanja" do "Skrivene ljubavi".
Tome se vratio u HBO-ovoj seriji "Mi smo to što jesmo" nakon izleta u žanr horora ("Suspiria"), ali bez prave "guadagninovske" inspiracije i strasti, ovdje prisutne samo u tragovima, u ponekoj sceni, prizoru, kadru, pjesmi na odličnom soundtracku ("Wild Horses", "Absolute Beginners"...), tek rijetko svemu tome odjednom. Daleko od loše serije, "We Are What We Are" blijedi u usporedbi s "Euphorijom" i nije ni blizu Guadagninovu "A Bigger Splash", kamoli tome da podijeli titulu njegova "magnum opusa" s "Call Me By Your Name".

Premda, čini se kako je Guadagnino upravo tipovao na to računajući epski zamah i grandioznost, rasporedivši seriju na osam epizoda od cca sat vremena (predzadnja traje i 80 minuta!), ali se pritom preračunao. Protagoniste "Skrivene ljubavi" mogli bismo slijediti i osam sati, za razliku od onih iz "Mi smo to što jesmo", koji nisu ni približno toliko zanimljivi, makar bi Jack Dylan Grazer ("Shazam!", "It 1&2") u ulozi Frasera mogao podsjetiti na Timotheeja Chalameta.

Kao da je Guadagnino toga svjestan pa u jednoj rečenici profesorica kaže učeniku da nešto što je čitao naglas pročita opet, s više uvjerenja. Fraser tijekom serije otkriva tko je i što želi biti, jednako kao i Caitlin (Jordan Kristine Seamón) koja se voli odijevati kao dečko i možda skriva "transgender" osobu u sebi, što on opisuje kao "jebenu revoluciju koja se odvija u tebi".
Dakle, Guadagnino je na domaćem terenu s likovima koje je pozicionirao na interesantno mjesto – u američku vojnu bazu u Italiji. Ondje je Fraser došao s majkom, pukovnicom Sarah i njezinom partnericom Maggie (Chloë Sevigny, Alice Braga). I ondje će upoznati Caitlin.
Zbivanja iz njegove perspektive u prvoj epizodi zgodno su prebačena na njezino očište u drugoj, no to su usamljene narativne igrarije serije koja doseže doslovnu i figurativnu "Euforiju" samo u četvrtoj epizodi, kad Fraser, Caitlin i njihova ekipa okupiraju napuštenu vilu kako bi proslavili brak Craiga i Valentine (Corey Knight, Beatrice Barichella).

U neujednačenoj naraciji zna se dogoditi da Fraser i Caitlin postanu periferni likovi u vlastitoj priči, što dobro dođe sporednjacima da ukradu poneku scenu (Vittoria Bottin i Francesca Scorsese, Martinova kći), ali ne i njima i njihovoj seriji. Jer, likovi ne uspijevaju postati stvarni i proživljeni kao vršnjaci iz serije "Euphoria", koja se znatno iskrenije, s više emocija, bavi(la) sličnim motivima identiteta, seksualnosti, usamljenosti. "We Are What We Are" pretendira na isto, ali ostavlja gledatelja emotivno praznim. Mi smo to što nismo.

Modernim serijama zainteresiranim za tinejdžere nije lako dosegnuti visoku prečku koju je postavila "Euphoria". Pa ipak, ako se od koga moglo očekivati da preskoči prečku "Euforije" ili barem dosegne, to je redatelj Luca Guadagnino, još svjež od izvanrednog filma "Call Me By Your Name". Guadagnino je specijaliziran za audiovizualno taktilno pa i euforično predočavanje osjećaja njegovih likova, od "Rasprskavanja" do "Skrivene ljubavi".
Tome se vratio u HBO-ovoj seriji "Mi smo to što jesmo" nakon izleta u žanr horora ("Suspiria"), ali bez prave "guadagninovske" inspiracije i strasti, ovdje prisutne samo u tragovima, u ponekoj sceni, prizoru, kadru, pjesmi na odličnom soundtracku ("Wild Horses", "Absolute Beginners"...), tek rijetko svemu tome odjednom. Daleko od loše serije, "We Are What We Are" blijedi u usporedbi s "Euphorijom" i nije ni blizu Guadagninovu "A Bigger Splash", kamoli tome da podijeli titulu njegova "magnum opusa" s "Call Me By Your Name".

Premda, čini se kako je Guadagnino upravo tipovao na to računajući epski zamah i grandioznost, rasporedivši seriju na osam epizoda od cca sat vremena (predzadnja traje i 80 minuta!), ali se pritom preračunao. Protagoniste "Skrivene ljubavi" mogli bismo slijediti i osam sati, za razliku od onih iz "Mi smo to što jesmo", koji nisu ni približno toliko zanimljivi, makar bi Jack Dylan Grazer ("Shazam!", "It 1&2") u ulozi Frasera mogao podsjetiti na Timotheeja Chalameta.

Kao da je Guadagnino toga svjestan pa u jednoj rečenici profesorica kaže učeniku da nešto što je čitao naglas pročita opet, s više uvjerenja. Fraser tijekom serije otkriva tko je i što želi biti, jednako kao i Caitlin (Jordan Kristine Seamón) koja se voli odijevati kao dečko i možda skriva "transgender" osobu u sebi, što on opisuje kao "jebenu revoluciju koja se odvija u tebi".
Dakle, Guadagnino je na domaćem terenu s likovima koje je pozicionirao na interesantno mjesto – u američku vojnu bazu u Italiji. Ondje je Fraser došao s majkom, pukovnicom Sarah i njezinom partnericom Maggie (Chloë Sevigny, Alice Braga). I ondje će upoznati Caitlin.
Zbivanja iz njegove perspektive u prvoj epizodi zgodno su prebačena na njezino očište u drugoj, no to su usamljene narativne igrarije serije koja doseže doslovnu i figurativnu "Euforiju" samo u četvrtoj epizodi, kad Fraser, Caitlin i njihova ekipa okupiraju napuštenu vilu kako bi proslavili brak Craiga i Valentine (Corey Knight, Beatrice Barichella).

U neujednačenoj naraciji zna se dogoditi da Fraser i Caitlin postanu periferni likovi u vlastitoj priči, što dobro dođe sporednjacima da ukradu poneku scenu (Vittoria Bottin i Francesca Scorsese, Martinova kći), ali ne i njima i njihovoj seriji. Jer, likovi ne uspijevaju postati stvarni i proživljeni kao vršnjaci iz serije "Euphoria", koja se znatno iskrenije, s više emocija, bavi(la) sličnim motivima identiteta, seksualnosti, usamljenosti. "We Are What We Are" pretendira na isto, ali ostavlja gledatelja emotivno praznim. Mi smo to što nismo.
