Kad se pomisli na Metković, jedna od prvih asocijacija svakako je rukomet. Upravo iz tog grada dolazi i jedan poznati rukometaš s reprezentativnim stažem i dugogodišnjom karijerom u najvećim klubovima Europe – Ilija Brozović. No, rukomet nije jedina strast koja ga pokreće; njegova ljubav prema Hajduku traje već dugo i veže ga uz klub na poseban način.
Rukomet je oduvijek bio popularan u njegovu rodnom gradu, pogotovo na prijelazu u 21. stoljeće.
U tom razdoblju, kad smo bili najbolji klub u Hrvatskoj, i ja sam počeo trenirati i igrati. Igrač kojeg najviše pamtim iz djetinjstva, što kroz Metković što kroz reprezentaciju, još je jedan Metkovac – Davor Dominiković. Imao sam čast upoznati ga te smo postali dobri prijatelji, prisjetio se Brozović svojih početaka i uzora iz tog vremena.

Među brojnim uspjesima istaknuo je one koji su mu ostali u najboljem sjećanju.
- Definitivno bih izdvojio dvije medalje s hrvatskom reprezentacijom, bez razmišljanja rekao je Ilija.
Uz rukomet, važan dio života za Iliju je i Hajduk, koji svakodnevno prati.
- U obitelji su svi navijači Hajduka i ljubav prema Hajduku usađena mi je od malih nogu, a ja je dalje prenosim na svoju djecu. Moji sinovi i ja članovi smo kluba i meni to puno znači. Sve tri članske iskaznice uvijek su uza me i s ponosom ih pokazujem kad god me netko pita za koga navijam - ponosno je istaknuo.
Osim što je aktivni član, Brozović, kad god stigne, pomaže Društvu prijatelja Hajduka Metković.
- DPH Metković radi odličan posao i organizira puno humanitarnih akcija; čast mi je kad mogu bar malo pomoći - pohvalio je lokalnu ekipu Ilija.
Uza sve to, Ilija Brozović odlučio je svoju vječnu ljubav prema Hajduku potvrditi na poseban način. Kao simbol trajne pripadnosti upisao je svoje ime u navijački park "Za sva vrimena".
- Projekt me od početka oduševio. Ideja da će imena zauvijek ostati tu, da će moji nasljednici uvijek znati za koga sam navijao, to me inspiriralo, objasnio je motivaciju za upis imena Brozović.
Nije birao određeno slovo na kojem će biti upisano njegovo ime.
- Nije mi bilo bitno koje će slovo biti, tako da zapravo niti ne znam na kojem sam; samo mi je bilo bitno upisati se - nadodao je Ilija.
Zbog svojih sportskih obaveza nije u mogućnosti redovito prisustvovati utakmicama Hajduka, ali jednoga će se dana i to promijeniti.
- Pripreme mi počinju polovicom srpnja, a prvenstvo završava polovicom lipnja, tako da nikada nisam tu dok traje liga. Kad završim karijeru, sigurno ću sa svojom djecom redovito ići na utakmice - zaključio je Ilija.

Kad se pomisli na Metković, jedna od prvih asocijacija svakako je rukomet. Upravo iz tog grada dolazi i jedan poznati rukometaš s reprezentativnim stažem i dugogodišnjom karijerom u najvećim klubovima Europe – Ilija Brozović. No, rukomet nije jedina strast koja ga pokreće; njegova ljubav prema Hajduku traje već dugo i veže ga uz klub na poseban način.
Rukomet je oduvijek bio popularan u njegovu rodnom gradu, pogotovo na prijelazu u 21. stoljeće.
U tom razdoblju, kad smo bili najbolji klub u Hrvatskoj, i ja sam počeo trenirati i igrati. Igrač kojeg najviše pamtim iz djetinjstva, što kroz Metković što kroz reprezentaciju, još je jedan Metkovac – Davor Dominiković. Imao sam čast upoznati ga te smo postali dobri prijatelji, prisjetio se Brozović svojih početaka i uzora iz tog vremena.

Među brojnim uspjesima istaknuo je one koji su mu ostali u najboljem sjećanju.
- Definitivno bih izdvojio dvije medalje s hrvatskom reprezentacijom, bez razmišljanja rekao je Ilija.
Uz rukomet, važan dio života za Iliju je i Hajduk, koji svakodnevno prati.
- U obitelji su svi navijači Hajduka i ljubav prema Hajduku usađena mi je od malih nogu, a ja je dalje prenosim na svoju djecu. Moji sinovi i ja članovi smo kluba i meni to puno znači. Sve tri članske iskaznice uvijek su uza me i s ponosom ih pokazujem kad god me netko pita za koga navijam - ponosno je istaknuo.
Osim što je aktivni član, Brozović, kad god stigne, pomaže Društvu prijatelja Hajduka Metković.
- DPH Metković radi odličan posao i organizira puno humanitarnih akcija; čast mi je kad mogu bar malo pomoći - pohvalio je lokalnu ekipu Ilija.
Uza sve to, Ilija Brozović odlučio je svoju vječnu ljubav prema Hajduku potvrditi na poseban način. Kao simbol trajne pripadnosti upisao je svoje ime u navijački park "Za sva vrimena".
- Projekt me od početka oduševio. Ideja da će imena zauvijek ostati tu, da će moji nasljednici uvijek znati za koga sam navijao, to me inspiriralo, objasnio je motivaciju za upis imena Brozović.
Nije birao određeno slovo na kojem će biti upisano njegovo ime.
- Nije mi bilo bitno koje će slovo biti, tako da zapravo niti ne znam na kojem sam; samo mi je bilo bitno upisati se - nadodao je Ilija.
Zbog svojih sportskih obaveza nije u mogućnosti redovito prisustvovati utakmicama Hajduka, ali jednoga će se dana i to promijeniti.
- Pripreme mi počinju polovicom srpnja, a prvenstvo završava polovicom lipnja, tako da nikada nisam tu dok traje liga. Kad završim karijeru, sigurno ću sa svojom djecom redovito ići na utakmice - zaključio je Ilija.
