Epidemiolozi i virolozi su zabrinuti zbog pojave još jedne podvarijante omikrona koja se jako brzo širi, a nazvali su je Kentaur, prema biću iz grčke mitologije – pola čovjek, pola konj. Podvarijanta BA.2.75 prvi je put otkrivena u Indiji početkom svibnja, a kako pokazuju prve analize zaraznija je od ekstremno prenosive varijante BA.5 te, te u mnogim zemljama prema pisanju britanskog Guardiana, istiskuje prethodnu inačicu omikrona BA.2.

BA.2.75 je zasad registriran u desetak zemalja, uključujući SAD, Australiju, Njemačku, Kanadu i Veliku Britaniju. Osim očitog brzog rasta i široke geografske rasprostranjenosti, virolozi upozoravaju da Kentaur ima dosta mutaciju u odnosu na BA.2.

- Ovo bi moglo značiti da je napravio dodatna unaprjeđenja u odnosu na prethodnika - kazao je dr. Stephen Griffin, virolog na Sveučilištu Leeds.

'Nije toliko stvar u samim mutacijama, koliko u njihovom broju odnosno kombinaciji', smatra dr. Tom Peacock, virolog s Imperial Collegea u Londonu, koji je prvi identificirao omikron kao brzošireću i potencijalno opasnu varijantu u studenome 2021. Kaže da je teško predvidjeti učinak tolikog broja mutacija koje se pojavljuju zajedno, ali virus ima određenu prednost jer bi sam zbroj mogao biti gori od pojedinačnih mutacija.

Varijanta omikrona BA.1 pojavila se krajem 2021. sa značajnim genetskim i virološkim razlikama. Nakon nje ubrzo je uslijedio genetski različit potomak BA.2 kojim je bila inficirana većina oboljelih tijekom zimskih mjeseci. Potom su stigli  BA.4 i BA.5, koji su vrlo slični, a proizlaze iz BA.2, kao i BA.2.75. BA.4 i BA.5 su dominantni soj Covida trenutno u većini zemalja svijeta kao i kod nas. Te varijante omikrona sposobne su ponovno zaraziti one koji su prethodno zaraženi ranijim sojem.

Zasad je nepoznato može li Kentaur uzrokovati ozbiljniju bolest od drugih varijanti omikrona, uključujući globalni BA.5.

'Još je jako rano za zaključke... Ali čini se, posebno u Indiji, da stope prijenosa ukazuju na eksponencijalni rast', ocijenio je Matthew Binnicker, klinički virolog američke klinike Mayo u Rochesteru.

Epidemiolozi i virolozi su zabrinuti zbog pojave još jedne podvarijante omikrona koja se jako brzo širi, a nazvali su je Kentaur, prema biću iz grčke mitologije – pola čovjek, pola konj. Podvarijanta BA.2.75 prvi je put otkrivena u Indiji početkom svibnja, a kako pokazuju prve analize zaraznija je od ekstremno prenosive varijante BA.5 te, te u mnogim zemljama prema pisanju britanskog Guardiana, istiskuje prethodnu inačicu omikrona BA.2.

BA.2.75 je zasad registriran u desetak zemalja, uključujući SAD, Australiju, Njemačku, Kanadu i Veliku Britaniju. Osim očitog brzog rasta i široke geografske rasprostranjenosti, virolozi upozoravaju da Kentaur ima dosta mutaciju u odnosu na BA.2.

- Ovo bi moglo značiti da je napravio dodatna unaprjeđenja u odnosu na prethodnika - kazao je dr. Stephen Griffin, virolog na Sveučilištu Leeds.

'Nije toliko stvar u samim mutacijama, koliko u njihovom broju odnosno kombinaciji', smatra dr. Tom Peacock, virolog s Imperial Collegea u Londonu, koji je prvi identificirao omikron kao brzošireću i potencijalno opasnu varijantu u studenome 2021. Kaže da je teško predvidjeti učinak tolikog broja mutacija koje se pojavljuju zajedno, ali virus ima određenu prednost jer bi sam zbroj mogao biti gori od pojedinačnih mutacija.

Varijanta omikrona BA.1 pojavila se krajem 2021. sa značajnim genetskim i virološkim razlikama. Nakon nje ubrzo je uslijedio genetski različit potomak BA.2 kojim je bila inficirana većina oboljelih tijekom zimskih mjeseci. Potom su stigli  BA.4 i BA.5, koji su vrlo slični, a proizlaze iz BA.2, kao i BA.2.75. BA.4 i BA.5 su dominantni soj Covida trenutno u većini zemalja svijeta kao i kod nas. Te varijante omikrona sposobne su ponovno zaraziti one koji su prethodno zaraženi ranijim sojem.

Epidemiolozi i virolozi su zabrinuti zbog pojave još jedne podvarijante omikrona koja se jako brzo širi, a nazvali su je Kentaur, prema biću iz grčke mitologije – pola čovjek, pola konj. Podvarijanta BA.2.75 prvi je put otkrivena u Indiji početkom svibnja, a kako pokazuju prve analize zaraznija je od ekstremno prenosive varijante BA.5 te, te u mnogim zemljama prema pisanju britanskog Guardiana, istiskuje prethodnu inačicu omikrona BA.2.

BA.2.75 je zasad registriran u desetak zemalja, uključujući SAD, Australiju, Njemačku, Kanadu i Veliku Britaniju. Osim očitog brzog rasta i široke geografske rasprostranjenosti, virolozi upozoravaju da Kentaur ima dosta mutaciju u odnosu na BA.2.

- Ovo bi moglo značiti da je napravio dodatna unaprjeđenja u odnosu na prethodnika - kazao je dr. Stephen Griffin, virolog na Sveučilištu Leeds.

'Nije toliko stvar u samim mutacijama, koliko u njihovom broju odnosno kombinaciji', smatra dr. Tom Peacock, virolog s Imperial Collegea u Londonu, koji je prvi identificirao omikron kao brzošireću i potencijalno opasnu varijantu u studenome 2021. Kaže da je teško predvidjeti učinak tolikog broja mutacija koje se pojavljuju zajedno, ali virus ima određenu prednost jer bi sam zbroj mogao biti gori od pojedinačnih mutacija.

Varijanta omikrona BA.1 pojavila se krajem 2021. sa značajnim genetskim i virološkim razlikama. Nakon nje ubrzo je uslijedio genetski različit potomak BA.2 kojim je bila inficirana većina oboljelih tijekom zimskih mjeseci. Potom su stigli  BA.4 i BA.5, koji su vrlo slični, a proizlaze iz BA.2, kao i BA.2.75. BA.4 i BA.5 su dominantni soj Covida trenutno u većini zemalja svijeta kao i kod nas. Te varijante omikrona sposobne su ponovno zaraziti one koji su prethodno zaraženi ranijim sojem.
