Umro je papa Benedikt XVI., gotovo deset godina nakon što je zbog slabog zdravlja odstupio s dužnosti.

Papa Benedikt XVI (Joseph Ratzinger) rođen je 16-IV-1927. u Marktlu na Innu nedaleko od Passaua, u Bavarskoj blizu austrijske granice.

Roditelji su mu bili seljačkog podrijetla, otac je bio policijski (žandarmerijski) službenik pa povjerenik, ali je odbio ući u Nacionalnu socijalističku njemačku radničku partiju kancelara Adolfa Hitlera, što ga je stajalo šikaniranja i premještaja. Zbog ekonomskih i idejnih razloga otac je neko vrijeme bio učitelj sinovima, Josephu i starijem Georgu, koji je također postao svećenikom. Ratzinger se rano opredijelio za sjemenište, te je kao sjemeništarac bio pošteđen redovite vojne službe u Velikom Njemačkom Reichu, osim što je u sklopu teritorijalne obrane bio u protuzračnoj obrani BMW-a. Nakon rata je studirao teologiju i filozofiju na Sveučilištu u Münchenu, te u Friesingu.

Za svećenika je zaređen 1951.

Status slobodnog docenta teologije postignuo je 1957, a kardinal Frings ga je poveo kao perita (teološkog stručnjaka savjetnika) na Drugi vatikanski koncil 1962-1965, gdje je dospio na glas zajedno sa skupinom inih mladih teologa.

Za redovitog profesora dogmatike i povijesti dogmi na Sveučilištu u Regensburgu izabran je 1969., te je bio prorektor Sveučilišta. Predavao je teologiju također u Friesingu, Bonnu, Münsteru i Tübingenu.

Papa Pavao VI imenovao ga je nadbiskupom Münchena i Freisinga 25-III-1977, a 27-VI iste godine ga je imenovao kardinalom. Papa Ivan Pavao II ga je 25 studenoga 1981 imenovao prefektom (pročelnikom) Kongregacije za nauk vjere, nakon umirovljenja kardinala Franje Šepera. Ratzinger je na toj dužnosti glavnoga papina čuvara pravovjerja ostao sve do smrti svoga prethodnika na papinskom prijestolju. Bio je i predsjednik Papinskoga biblijskog povjerenstva te Papinskoga međunarodnoga teološkog povjerenstva. Glavni je autor novog Katekizma Katoličke crkve. Još 2002 je podnio ostavku Ivanu Pavlu II jer je navršio 75 godina, ali prethodni papa tu ostavku nije prihvatio sve do svoje smrti.

Od 2002. bio je dekan Kardinalskog zbora.

Izabran je za papu 19-IV- 2005. Odrekao se te dužnosti 28-II-2013.

Umro je papa Benedikt XVI., gotovo deset godina nakon što je zbog slabog zdravlja odstupio s dužnosti.

Papa Benedikt XVI (Joseph Ratzinger) rođen je 16-IV-1927. u Marktlu na Innu nedaleko od Passaua, u Bavarskoj blizu austrijske granice.

Roditelji su mu bili seljačkog podrijetla, otac je bio policijski (žandarmerijski) službenik pa povjerenik, ali je odbio ući u Nacionalnu socijalističku njemačku radničku partiju kancelara Adolfa Hitlera, što ga je stajalo šikaniranja i premještaja. Zbog ekonomskih i idejnih razloga otac je neko vrijeme bio učitelj sinovima, Josephu i starijem Georgu, koji je također postao svećenikom. Ratzinger se rano opredijelio za sjemenište, te je kao sjemeništarac bio pošteđen redovite vojne službe u Velikom Njemačkom Reichu, osim što je u sklopu teritorijalne obrane bio u protuzračnoj obrani BMW-a. Nakon rata je studirao teologiju i filozofiju na Sveučilištu u Münchenu, te u Friesingu.

Za svećenika je zaređen 1951.

Status slobodnog docenta teologije postignuo je 1957, a kardinal Frings ga je poveo kao perita (teološkog stručnjaka savjetnika) na Drugi vatikanski koncil 1962-1965, gdje je dospio na glas zajedno sa skupinom inih mladih teologa.

Za redovitog profesora dogmatike i povijesti dogmi na Sveučilištu u Regensburgu izabran je 1969., te je bio prorektor Sveučilišta. Predavao je teologiju također u Friesingu, Bonnu, Münsteru i Tübingenu.

Papa Pavao VI imenovao ga je nadbiskupom Münchena i Freisinga 25-III-1977, a 27-VI iste godine ga je imenovao kardinalom. Papa Ivan Pavao II ga je 25 studenoga 1981 imenovao prefektom (pročelnikom) Kongregacije za nauk vjere, nakon umirovljenja kardinala Franje Šepera. Ratzinger je na toj dužnosti glavnoga papina čuvara pravovjerja ostao sve do smrti svoga prethodnika na papinskom prijestolju. Bio je i predsjednik Papinskoga biblijskog povjerenstva te Papinskoga međunarodnoga teološkog povjerenstva. Glavni je autor novog Katekizma Katoličke crkve. Još 2002 je podnio ostavku Ivanu Pavlu II jer je navršio 75 godina, ali prethodni papa tu ostavku nije prihvatio sve do svoje smrti.

Od 2002. bio je dekan Kardinalskog zbora.

Izabran je za papu 19-IV- 2005. Odrekao se te dužnosti 28-II-2013.

Umro je papa Benedikt XVI., gotovo deset godina nakon što je zbog slabog zdravlja odstupio s dužnosti.

Papa Benedikt XVI (Joseph Ratzinger) rođen je 16-IV-1927. u Marktlu na Innu nedaleko od Passaua, u Bavarskoj blizu austrijske granice.

Roditelji su mu bili seljačkog podrijetla, otac je bio policijski (žandarmerijski) službenik pa povjerenik, ali je odbio ući u Nacionalnu socijalističku njemačku radničku partiju kancelara Adolfa Hitlera, što ga je stajalo šikaniranja i premještaja. Zbog ekonomskih i idejnih razloga otac je neko vrijeme bio učitelj sinovima, Josephu i starijem Georgu, koji je također postao svećenikom. Ratzinger se rano opredijelio za sjemenište, te je kao sjemeništarac bio pošteđen redovite vojne službe u Velikom Njemačkom Reichu, osim što je u sklopu teritorijalne obrane bio u protuzračnoj obrani BMW-a. Nakon rata je studirao teologiju i filozofiju na Sveučilištu u Münchenu, te u Friesingu.

Za svećenika je zaređen 1951.

Status slobodnog docenta teologije postignuo je 1957, a kardinal Frings ga je poveo kao perita (teološkog stručnjaka savjetnika) na Drugi vatikanski koncil 1962-1965, gdje je dospio na glas zajedno sa skupinom inih mladih teologa.

Za redovitog profesora dogmatike i povijesti dogmi na Sveučilištu u Regensburgu izabran je 1969., te je bio prorektor Sveučilišta. Predavao je teologiju također u Friesingu, Bonnu, Münsteru i Tübingenu.

Papa Pavao VI imenovao ga je nadbiskupom Münchena i Freisinga 25-III-1977, a 27-VI iste godine ga je imenovao kardinalom. Papa Ivan Pavao II ga je 25 studenoga 1981 imenovao prefektom (pročelnikom) Kongregacije za nauk vjere, nakon umirovljenja kardinala Franje Šepera. Ratzinger je na toj dužnosti glavnoga papina čuvara pravovjerja ostao sve do smrti svoga prethodnika na papinskom prijestolju. Bio je i predsjednik Papinskoga biblijskog povjerenstva te Papinskoga međunarodnoga teološkog povjerenstva. Glavni je autor novog Katekizma Katoličke crkve. Još 2002 je podnio ostavku Ivanu Pavlu II jer je navršio 75 godina, ali prethodni papa tu ostavku nije prihvatio sve do svoje smrti.

Od 2002. bio je dekan Kardinalskog zbora.

Izabran je za papu 19-IV- 2005. Odrekao se te dužnosti 28-II-2013.
