Dalmaciju su u tjedan dana zatresla čak tri potresa, a podrhtavanje tla zabilježeno je u lipnju kod Primoštena, a u srpnju se tresao Dubrovnik. Tomislav Fiket, dežurni seizmolog za tportal je ukratko pojasnio zašto nastaju potresi u Dalmaciji.

'To su standardni procesi tj. gibanje tektonskih ploča. Riječ je o Jadranskoj mikro ploči i njezinim izlomljenim dijelovima te uslijed naprezanja i pomicanja dolazi do zapinjanja ploča. U trenutku kada to zapinjanje više ne može izdržati dolazi do pucanja koje se manifestira kao potres tj. oslobađanje energije', pojašnjava Fiket.

Iako je uvriježeno mišljenje među laicima kako je bolje da se energija oslobađa nizom manjih potresa nego jednim velikim, Fiket kaže da je to dijelom ispravan stav.

'Naravno puno bolje osjetiti puno malih potresa nego jedan veliki ali ne može se to baš tako shvatiti jer energija raste eksponencijalno. Jako puno potresa magnitude tri bi trebalo biti da kompenziraju potres magnitude četiri, da potroše tu energiju... Ne znači da se jaki neće dogoditi unatoč nizu slabijih potresa', poručuje.

Dalmaciju su u tjedan dana zatresla čak tri potresa, a podrhtavanje tla zabilježeno je u lipnju kod Primoštena, a u srpnju se tresao Dubrovnik. Tomislav Fiket, dežurni seizmolog za tportal je ukratko pojasnio zašto nastaju potresi u Dalmaciji.

'To su standardni procesi tj. gibanje tektonskih ploča. Riječ je o Jadranskoj mikro ploči i njezinim izlomljenim dijelovima te uslijed naprezanja i pomicanja dolazi do zapinjanja ploča. U trenutku kada to zapinjanje više ne može izdržati dolazi do pucanja koje se manifestira kao potres tj. oslobađanje energije', pojašnjava Fiket.

Iako je uvriježeno mišljenje među laicima kako je bolje da se energija oslobađa nizom manjih potresa nego jednim velikim, Fiket kaže da je to dijelom ispravan stav.

'Naravno puno bolje osjetiti puno malih potresa nego jedan veliki ali ne može se to baš tako shvatiti jer energija raste eksponencijalno. Jako puno potresa magnitude tri bi trebalo biti da kompenziraju potres magnitude četiri, da potroše tu energiju... Ne znači da se jaki neće dogoditi unatoč nizu slabijih potresa', poručuje.
