Misteriozna respiratorna bolest pogodila je pse u najmanje 14 američkih država, navodi Američko veterinarsko udruženje koje traži od veterinara prijavu svih slučajeva bolesti, dok se laboratoriji utrkuju izolirati patogen odgovoran za bolest.

Znanstvenici još uvijek pokušavaju utvrditi je li bolest, koja može biti smrtonosna, virusna ili bakterijska te može li biti varijanta poznate pseće bolesti poznate kao “pseći kašalj”, priopćilo je udruženje, piše Reuters.

Simptomi uključuju kašalj koji može trajati četiri do šest tjedana što može uzrokovati blagi bronhitis ili se može razviti u upalu pluća. Neki akutni slučajevi brzo su prerasli u upalu pluća u roku od 24 do 36 sati, kažu.

Za sada nema naznaka da se bolest može prenijeti i na ljude, ali veterinari upozoravaju vlasnike pasa da pripaze tijekom blagdana kada kućni ljubimci putuju s obiteljima ili su smješteni u hotelima za pse.

U američkoj državi Oregon prijavljeno je oko 200 slučajeva dok točan broj slučajeva u Kaliforniji, Coloradu, Floridi, Georgiji, Idahu, Ilinoisu, Indiani, Marylandu, Massachusettsu, New Hampshireu, Rhode Islandu, Vermontu i Washingtonu još uvijek nije poznat.

Reuters javlja da ministarstvo poljoprivrede Oregona surađuje s državnim i federalnim dijagnostičkim laboratorijima na identifikaciji uzroka, a Fakultet za veterinarsku medicinu i biološke znanosti  Državnog sveučilišta u Coloradu povezao je bolest sa slučajevima teške upale pluća i nekim smrtnim slučajevima, navodi Američko veterinarsko udruženje u svom najnovijem priopćenju.

Veterinarka Rena Carlson, predsjednica udruženja, rekla je da je toliko toga još nepoznato o izbijanju bolesti da se o njoj jednostavno govori kao o atipičnoj bolesti. “Jednostavno ne znamo može li prijeći na druge vrste, bili ljudi ili mačke. Mi to pažljivo pratimo”, rekla je Carlson.

Stručnjaci iz New Hampshirea su usmjerili istraživanje na novi soj bakterija, ali do sada su antibiotici bili uglavnom nedjelotvorni u liječenju, rekla je Carlson.

Preporučila je vlasnicima pasa da cijepe svoje ljubimce i potraže veterinarsku pomoć čim psi pokažu prve simptome.

Misteriozna respiratorna bolest pogodila je pse u najmanje 14 američkih država, navodi Američko veterinarsko udruženje koje traži od veterinara prijavu svih slučajeva bolesti, dok se laboratoriji utrkuju izolirati patogen odgovoran za bolest.

Znanstvenici još uvijek pokušavaju utvrditi je li bolest, koja može biti smrtonosna, virusna ili bakterijska te može li biti varijanta poznate pseće bolesti poznate kao “pseći kašalj”, priopćilo je udruženje, piše Reuters.

Simptomi uključuju kašalj koji može trajati četiri do šest tjedana što može uzrokovati blagi bronhitis ili se može razviti u upalu pluća. Neki akutni slučajevi brzo su prerasli u upalu pluća u roku od 24 do 36 sati, kažu.

Za sada nema naznaka da se bolest može prenijeti i na ljude, ali veterinari upozoravaju vlasnike pasa da pripaze tijekom blagdana kada kućni ljubimci putuju s obiteljima ili su smješteni u hotelima za pse.

U američkoj državi Oregon prijavljeno je oko 200 slučajeva dok točan broj slučajeva u Kaliforniji, Coloradu, Floridi, Georgiji, Idahu, Ilinoisu, Indiani, Marylandu, Massachusettsu, New Hampshireu, Rhode Islandu, Vermontu i Washingtonu još uvijek nije poznat.

Reuters javlja da ministarstvo poljoprivrede Oregona surađuje s državnim i federalnim dijagnostičkim laboratorijima na identifikaciji uzroka, a Fakultet za veterinarsku medicinu i biološke znanosti  Državnog sveučilišta u Coloradu povezao je bolest sa slučajevima teške upale pluća i nekim smrtnim slučajevima, navodi Američko veterinarsko udruženje u svom najnovijem priopćenju.

Veterinarka Rena Carlson, predsjednica udruženja, rekla je da je toliko toga još nepoznato o izbijanju bolesti da se o njoj jednostavno govori kao o atipičnoj bolesti. “Jednostavno ne znamo može li prijeći na druge vrste, bili ljudi ili mačke. Mi to pažljivo pratimo”, rekla je Carlson.

Stručnjaci iz New Hampshirea su usmjerili istraživanje na novi soj bakterija, ali do sada su antibiotici bili uglavnom nedjelotvorni u liječenju, rekla je Carlson.

Preporučila je vlasnicima pasa da cijepe svoje ljubimce i potraže veterinarsku pomoć čim psi pokažu prve simptome.

Nova tajanstvena respiratorna bolest širi se kod pasa, neki akutni slučajevi brzo su prerasli u upalu pluća

Misteriozna respiratorna bolest pogodila je pse u najmanje 14 američkih država, navodi Američko veterinarsko udruženje koje traži od veterinara prijavu svih slučajeva bolesti, dok se laboratoriji utrkuju izolirati patogen odgovoran za bolest.

Znanstvenici još uvijek pokušavaju utvrditi je li bolest, koja može biti smrtonosna, virusna ili bakterijska te može li biti varijanta poznate pseće bolesti poznate kao “pseći kašalj”, priopćilo je udruženje, piše Reuters.

Simptomi uključuju kašalj koji može trajati četiri do šest tjedana što može uzrokovati blagi bronhitis ili se može razviti u upalu pluća. Neki akutni slučajevi brzo su prerasli u upalu pluća u roku od 24 do 36 sati, kažu.

Za sada nema naznaka da se bolest može prenijeti i na ljude, ali veterinari upozoravaju vlasnike pasa da pripaze tijekom blagdana kada kućni ljubimci putuju s obiteljima ili su smješteni u hotelima za pse.

U američkoj državi Oregon prijavljeno je oko 200 slučajeva dok točan broj slučajeva u Kaliforniji, Coloradu, Floridi, Georgiji, Idahu, Ilinoisu, Indiani, Marylandu, Massachusettsu, New Hampshireu, Rhode Islandu, Vermontu i Washingtonu još uvijek nije poznat.
