Neposredno nakon Drugog svjetskog rata Šibenik više nije bio isti grad. Brojne žrtve Šibenčana tijekom rata još su uvijek bile svježe, a razaranja koje je Šibenik pretrpio za vrijeme savezničkih zračnih bombardiranja bila su vidljive na svakom koraku.

Posebice je dramatično bilo na Svetu Lucu 1943. godine kada je Šibenik pretrpio osobito teška razaranja, a bilo ranjenih i mrtvih građana. Dnevnički zapisi Šibenčanina Radoja Novaka o tim zračnim bombardiranjima desetljećima su ostali skriveni, daleko od očiju javnosti. Tada dvadesetpetogodišnjak, Novak je marno bilježio svaku porušenu kuću i građevinu i uz to povezao datum kada su saveznici bacali bombe na Krešimirov grad. Zbog toga danas s velikom preciznošću možemo po datumima utvrditi kada je koji objekt razrušen.

Novakovo svjedočanstvo povjesničar Joško Zaninović 2017. godine je, uz svoje komentare, bogato ilustrirao velikim brojem fotografija na kojima se vide razaranja te objavio knjigu „Savezničko bombardiranje Šibenika 1943.-1944. u nakladi Državnog arhiva u Šibeniku.

Na svetu Lucu, 13. prosinca 1943. godine do temelja srušena, između ostalih građevina, i sadašnja gradska vijećnica. Smatra se, uz srušenu zadarsku krstionicu, da je savezničko zračno bombardiranje šibenske vijećnice bila najveća ratna šteta graditeljskoj baštini na hrvatskoj obali Jadrana. Zgrada vijećnice obnovljena je metodom faksimila, kojom se u konzervatorskoj praksi povijesnoj građevini vraća prvobitni izgled. Presudnu ulogu da se donese odluka o revitalizaciji vijećnice i o izboru metode odigrali su konzervatori. Naime, tada je bilo i razmišljanja da se zgrada vijećnice više ne može obnoviti jer su svi njeni dijelovi jako stradali. Obnovi zgrade vijećnice pristupilo se 1947. godine, projekt rekonstrukcije izradio je arhitekt Harold Bilinić, a radovi su, zbog teških financijskih prilika, tekli sporo, da bi vijećnica bila otvorena krajem 1960. godine. Bilinić za taj posao, osim nekoliko predratnih fotografija i hrpe ruševina, nije imao ništa, a po značaju i rezultatu, faksimilska obnova vijećnice u Šibeniku ide u red najrafiniranijih i najkompleksnijih konzervatorskih zahvata u Hrvatskoj poslije Drugog svjetskog rata.

Neposredno nakon Drugog svjetskog rata Šibenik više nije bio isti grad. Brojne žrtve Šibenčana tijekom rata još su uvijek bile svježe, a razaranja koje je Šibenik pretrpio za vrijeme savezničkih zračnih bombardiranja bila su vidljive na svakom koraku.

Posebice je dramatično bilo na Svetu Lucu 1943. godine kada je Šibenik pretrpio osobito teška razaranja, a bilo ranjenih i mrtvih građana. Dnevnički zapisi Šibenčanina Radoja Novaka o tim zračnim bombardiranjima desetljećima su ostali skriveni, daleko od očiju javnosti. Tada dvadesetpetogodišnjak, Novak je marno bilježio svaku porušenu kuću i građevinu i uz to povezao datum kada su saveznici bacali bombe na Krešimirov grad. Zbog toga danas s velikom preciznošću možemo po datumima utvrditi kada je koji objekt razrušen.

Novakovo svjedočanstvo povjesničar Joško Zaninović 2017. godine je, uz svoje komentare, bogato ilustrirao velikim brojem fotografija na kojima se vide razaranja te objavio knjigu „Savezničko bombardiranje Šibenika 1943.-1944. u nakladi Državnog arhiva u Šibeniku.

Na svetu Lucu, 13. prosinca 1943. godine do temelja srušena, između ostalih građevina, i sadašnja gradska vijećnica. Smatra se, uz srušenu zadarsku krstionicu, da je savezničko zračno bombardiranje šibenske vijećnice bila najveća ratna šteta graditeljskoj baštini na hrvatskoj obali Jadrana. Zgrada vijećnice obnovljena je metodom faksimila, kojom se u konzervatorskoj praksi povijesnoj građevini vraća prvobitni izgled. Presudnu ulogu da se donese odluka o revitalizaciji vijećnice i o izboru metode odigrali su konzervatori. Naime, tada je bilo i razmišljanja da se zgrada vijećnice više ne može obnoviti jer su svi njeni dijelovi jako stradali. Obnovi zgrade vijećnice pristupilo se 1947. godine, projekt rekonstrukcije izradio je arhitekt Harold Bilinić, a radovi su, zbog teških financijskih prilika, tekli sporo, da bi vijećnica bila otvorena krajem 1960. godine. Bilinić za taj posao, osim nekoliko predratnih fotografija i hrpe ruševina, nije imao ništa, a po značaju i rezultatu, faksimilska obnova vijećnice u Šibeniku ide u red najrafiniranijih i najkompleksnijih konzervatorskih zahvata u Hrvatskoj poslije Drugog svjetskog rata.

Sveta Luce nije uvijek bila sretna za Krešimirov grad: prisjećamo se dramatičnih događaja u Drugom svjetskom ratu

Neposredno nakon Drugog svjetskog rata Šibenik više nije bio isti grad. Brojne žrtve Šibenčana tijekom rata još su uvijek bile svježe, a razaranja koje je Šibenik pretrpio za vrijeme savezničkih zračnih bombardiranja bila su vidljive na svakom koraku.

Posebice je dramatično bilo na Svetu Lucu 1943. godine kada je Šibenik pretrpio osobito teška razaranja, a bilo ranjenih i mrtvih građana. Dnevnički zapisi Šibenčanina Radoja Novaka o tim zračnim bombardiranjima desetljećima su ostali skriveni, daleko od očiju javnosti. Tada dvadesetpetogodišnjak, Novak je marno bilježio svaku porušenu kuću i građevinu i uz to povezao datum kada su saveznici bacali bombe na Krešimirov grad. Zbog toga danas s velikom preciznošću možemo po datumima utvrditi kada je koji objekt razrušen.

Novakovo svjedočanstvo povjesničar Joško Zaninović 2017. godine je, uz svoje komentare, bogato ilustrirao velikim brojem fotografija na kojima se vide razaranja te objavio knjigu „Savezničko bombardiranje Šibenika 1943.-1944. u nakladi Državnog arhiva u Šibeniku.

Na svetu Lucu, 13. prosinca 1943. godine do temelja srušena, između ostalih građevina, i sadašnja gradska vijećnica. Smatra se, uz srušenu zadarsku krstionicu, da je savezničko zračno bombardiranje šibenske vijećnice bila najveća ratna šteta graditeljskoj baštini na hrvatskoj obali Jadrana. Zgrada vijećnice obnovljena je metodom faksimila, kojom se u konzervatorskoj praksi povijesnoj građevini vraća prvobitni izgled. Presudnu ulogu da se donese odluka o revitalizaciji vijećnice i o izboru metode odigrali su konzervatori. Naime, tada je bilo i razmišljanja da se zgrada vijećnice više ne može obnoviti jer su svi njeni dijelovi jako stradali. Obnovi zgrade vijećnice pristupilo se 1947. godine, projekt rekonstrukcije izradio je arhitekt Harold Bilinić, a radovi su, zbog teških financijskih prilika, tekli sporo, da bi vijećnica bila otvorena krajem 1960. godine. Bilinić za taj posao, osim nekoliko predratnih fotografija i hrpe ruševina, nije imao ništa, a po značaju i rezultatu, faksimilska obnova vijećnice u Šibeniku ide u red najrafiniranijih i najkompleksnijih konzervatorskih zahvata u Hrvatskoj poslije Drugog svjetskog rata.
