Aktivistica, feministica i borkinja za ženska prava Gloria Steinem prošle godine je dvaput defilirala ekranom. U seriji "Mrs. America" kreatorice Dahvi Waller, koja se počela emitirati u travnju 2020., Gloria je bila važan, ali sporedan lik u tijelu glumice Rose Byrne, nalazeći se u sjeni titularne ultrakonzervativne desničarke Phylis Schlafley (dobitnica Oscara Cate Blanchett).

Tri mjeseca ranije, krajem siječnja na Sundance festivalu, premijeru je imao film "The Glorias" redateljice Julie Taymor, snimljen prema Glorijinoj bestselerskoj autobiografiji "My Life On The Road", u kojemu Steinem glume oskarovke Julianne Moore i Alicia Vikander.

"Gospođa Amerika" i "Gloria Steinem: Moj život na putu", kako je "The Glorias" naslovljen kod nas da podsjeti na poznati predložak, fino se nadopunjuju.

Serija i film sagledavaju borbu za ženska prava sedamdesetih iz različite perspektive dviju suprotstavljenih žena, a povezani su Phylisičinim ukazanjem na TV u jednoj sceni Taymoričina ostvarenja.

I "Mrs. America" i "The Glorias" su, usto, relevantni, pogađajući tajming svjetskog, pa i hrvatskog ženskog trenutka s 50 godina starom pričom. Podsjetimo, "Gospođa Amerika" je govorila o ženskim pravima, pravu na pobačaj, ravnopravnosti spolova..., emitirajući se u vrijeme kad je hrvatska javnost bila fokusirana na maternice, srednje prste i vraćanje žena na "tvorničke (Božje) postavke".

"Nikad nas neće shvatiti ozbiljno, mi smo hodajuće maternice", proročki je rekla Steinem u seriji. Film "Moj život na putu", s druge strane, stigao je na domaće "online" videotržište baš kad su se žene Hrvatske i regije ujedinile u grupu "Nisam tražila" protiv silovanja i seksualnog zlostavljanja, a u tom kontekstu ima još proročkije izjave ili scene, tipa da Gloria proziva profesore koji "silovanje nazivaju blagim napadom".

Tako, šef je Gloriji (glumi je tad Vikander) na početku poslovne karijere dao zadatak da odnese pisma na poštu i nađe se s njime u hotelskom apartmanu, što je odbila i dala otkaz. Kad se ubrzo poslije, početkom šezdesetih, zaposlila kao novinarka, radeći veliki novinarski korak naprijed u odnosu na majku Ruth (Enid Graham) koja je morala pisati pod muškim pseudonimom, Steinem je napisala "Priče jedne zečice" i razotkrila "grozne radne uvjete" žena u kostimima zečica.

A kad je gostovala u TV studiju, seksistički voditelj joj je postavio pitanje "Smatrate li da postoji paradoks između ženskog stajališta kako ne žele da ih se gleda kao seksualne objekte i toga da se vrlo seksepilno odijevate?", odmjeravajući je očima od glave do pete. "To je moja uniforma", odgovorila je Gloria, nakon čega je redateljica orkestrirala stiliziranu scenu imaginacije a la "Čarobnjak iz Oza" sa Steinem u različitim "uniformama".

S ovim se dobro slaže nešto kasniji citat starije i mudrije Glorije, kad je tumači Moore: "Najveći pokazatelj je li zemlja unutar sebe nasilna nije siromaštvo, nedostatak prirodnih resursa, religija, stupanj demokracije, nego stupanj nasilja nad ženama". Nelinearne naracije, film hita naprijed-natrag u vremenu i prostoru sa Steinem, od njezina putovanja Indijom do pokretanja časopisa "Ms." i amandmana o jednakim pravima.

Bliža i dalja povijest evocirane su sjajnom fotografijom nesuđenog oskarovca Rodriga Prieta ("Babel") i kostimografijom trostruke oskarovke Sandy Powell ("Daleko od raja"), dok se Glorije konstantno izmjenjuju u kadru, od malih nogu, tinejdžerskih godina, u dvadesetima/tridesetima i u sredovječju, kad Steinem redom igraju Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Lulu Wilson, Vikander i Moore.

Nerijetko se događa i da se četiri verzije Glorije iz različitog vremena nađu u istom prostoru (u busu na putu za negdje) i međusobno razgovaraju, što potencira eksperimentalni pristup Todda Haynesa u biografskom filmu o Bobu Dylanu "Nema me", u kojem je nekoliko glumaca glumilo razne inačice glazbenika, uključujući i Blanchett. Uz pomoć direktora fotografije Prieta, Taymor eksperimentira više od Haynesa: unutar busa sve je crno-bijelo, kontrastirano jarkim fleševima kolora vani, primjerice neonsko-zelenom restoranu uz cestu.

Bogata estetika, karakteristična za redateljicu specifičnog vizualnog prosedea ("Titus", "Frida", "Across The Universe", "The Tempest"), istodobno subvertira konvencije biografskog filma i odvraća pažnju s glavnog lika koji je udario temelje "početka stvaranja naše demokracije kakva je trebala biti prije 200 godina". Na koncu Steinem baš i ne uspijevamo upoznati privatno kao pravu osobu od krvi i mesa, samo kao evoluirajuću javnu/političku personu, ideju, hodajući slogan za prava žena u prepoznatljivom "outfitu" i sa sunčanim naočalama na licu.

Ipak, redateljičin pristup da na jednom mjestu okuplja četiri Glorije u različitoj životnoj dobi svejedno je zanimljiv, u smislu da ispada kao da mlađa Steinem piše pismo starijoj sebi, a starija priča s mlađom i razmišlja kako bi bilo da se s "ovom glavom" može vratiti u prošlost i reagirati na seksizam i diskriminaciju.

Tu se prelamaju prošlost i sadašnjost koje se bitno ne razlikuju, s obzirom da se situacija nije promijenila u zadnjih 50 godina. U vizualno najpamtljivijoj sceni cesta se pretvara u traku za trčanje uzbrdo. "Put prema gore uvijek je krivudava linija", notira Steinem, nastavljajući trčati uzbrdo.

Aktivistica, feministica i borkinja za ženska prava Gloria Steinem prošle godine je dvaput defilirala ekranom. U seriji "Mrs. America" kreatorice Dahvi Waller, koja se počela emitirati u travnju 2020., Gloria je bila važan, ali sporedan lik u tijelu glumice Rose Byrne, nalazeći se u sjeni titularne ultrakonzervativne desničarke Phylis Schlafley (dobitnica Oscara Cate Blanchett).

Tri mjeseca ranije, krajem siječnja na Sundance festivalu, premijeru je imao film "The Glorias" redateljice Julie Taymor, snimljen prema Glorijinoj bestselerskoj autobiografiji "My Life On The Road", u kojemu Steinem glume oskarovke Julianne Moore i Alicia Vikander.

"Gospođa Amerika" i "Gloria Steinem: Moj život na putu", kako je "The Glorias" naslovljen kod nas da podsjeti na poznati predložak, fino se nadopunjuju.

Serija i film sagledavaju borbu za ženska prava sedamdesetih iz različite perspektive dviju suprotstavljenih žena, a povezani su Phylisičinim ukazanjem na TV u jednoj sceni Taymoričina ostvarenja.

I "Mrs. America" i "The Glorias" su, usto, relevantni, pogađajući tajming svjetskog, pa i hrvatskog ženskog trenutka s 50 godina starom pričom. Podsjetimo, "Gospođa Amerika" je govorila o ženskim pravima, pravu na pobačaj, ravnopravnosti spolova..., emitirajući se u vrijeme kad je hrvatska javnost bila fokusirana na maternice, srednje prste i vraćanje žena na "tvorničke (Božje) postavke".

"Nikad nas neće shvatiti ozbiljno, mi smo hodajuće maternice", proročki je rekla Steinem u seriji. Film "Moj život na putu", s druge strane, stigao je na domaće "online" videotržište baš kad su se žene Hrvatske i regije ujedinile u grupu "Nisam tražila" protiv silovanja i seksualnog zlostavljanja, a u tom kontekstu ima još proročkije izjave ili scene, tipa da Gloria proziva profesore koji "silovanje nazivaju blagim napadom".

Tako, šef je Gloriji (glumi je tad Vikander) na početku poslovne karijere dao zadatak da odnese pisma na poštu i nađe se s njime u hotelskom apartmanu, što je odbila i dala otkaz. Kad se ubrzo poslije, početkom šezdesetih, zaposlila kao novinarka, radeći veliki novinarski korak naprijed u odnosu na majku Ruth (Enid Graham) koja je morala pisati pod muškim pseudonimom, Steinem je napisala "Priče jedne zečice" i razotkrila "grozne radne uvjete" žena u kostimima zečica.

A kad je gostovala u TV studiju, seksistički voditelj joj je postavio pitanje "Smatrate li da postoji paradoks između ženskog stajališta kako ne žele da ih se gleda kao seksualne objekte i toga da se vrlo seksepilno odijevate?", odmjeravajući je očima od glave do pete. "To je moja uniforma", odgovorila je Gloria, nakon čega je redateljica orkestrirala stiliziranu scenu imaginacije a la "Čarobnjak iz Oza" sa Steinem u različitim "uniformama".

S ovim se dobro slaže nešto kasniji citat starije i mudrije Glorije, kad je tumači Moore: "Najveći pokazatelj je li zemlja unutar sebe nasilna nije siromaštvo, nedostatak prirodnih resursa, religija, stupanj demokracije, nego stupanj nasilja nad ženama". Nelinearne naracije, film hita naprijed-natrag u vremenu i prostoru sa Steinem, od njezina putovanja Indijom do pokretanja časopisa "Ms." i amandmana o jednakim pravima.

Bliža i dalja povijest evocirane su sjajnom fotografijom nesuđenog oskarovca Rodriga Prieta ("Babel") i kostimografijom trostruke oskarovke Sandy Powell ("Daleko od raja"), dok se Glorije konstantno izmjenjuju u kadru, od malih nogu, tinejdžerskih godina, u dvadesetima/tridesetima i u sredovječju, kad Steinem redom igraju Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Lulu Wilson, Vikander i Moore.

Nerijetko se događa i da se četiri verzije Glorije iz različitog vremena nađu u istom prostoru (u busu na putu za negdje) i međusobno razgovaraju, što potencira eksperimentalni pristup Todda Haynesa u biografskom filmu o Bobu Dylanu "Nema me", u kojem je nekoliko glumaca glumilo razne inačice glazbenika, uključujući i Blanchett. Uz pomoć direktora fotografije Prieta, Taymor eksperimentira više od Haynesa: unutar busa sve je crno-bijelo, kontrastirano jarkim fleševima kolora vani, primjerice neonsko-zelenom restoranu uz cestu.

Bogata estetika, karakteristična za redateljicu specifičnog vizualnog prosedea ("Titus", "Frida", "Across The Universe", "The Tempest"), istodobno subvertira konvencije biografskog filma i odvraća pažnju s glavnog lika koji je udario temelje "početka stvaranja naše demokracije kakva je trebala biti prije 200 godina". Na koncu Steinem baš i ne uspijevamo upoznati privatno kao pravu osobu od krvi i mesa, samo kao evoluirajuću javnu/političku personu, ideju, hodajući slogan za prava žena u prepoznatljivom "outfitu" i sa sunčanim naočalama na licu.

Ipak, redateljičin pristup da na jednom mjestu okuplja četiri Glorije u različitoj životnoj dobi svejedno je zanimljiv, u smislu da ispada kao da mlađa Steinem piše pismo starijoj sebi, a starija priča s mlađom i razmišlja kako bi bilo da se s "ovom glavom" može vratiti u prošlost i reagirati na seksizam i diskriminaciju.

Tu se prelamaju prošlost i sadašnjost koje se bitno ne razlikuju, s obzirom da se situacija nije promijenila u zadnjih 50 godina. U vizualno najpamtljivijoj sceni cesta se pretvara u traku za trčanje uzbrdo. "Put prema gore uvijek je krivudava linija", notira Steinem, nastavljajući trčati uzbrdo.
